I've used a 62" 1080p plasma tv as a monitor before. Fun but the resolution was a bit weak
HDMI Cables help i hear.

You do know that there's no reason why you can't have splitscreen on a PC, right?!

And lately console games with split screens have become rarer, haven't they... but i guess that having 2 people play the same copy of a game isn't good business once it's no longer the only way to offer MP.

No splitcreen is still pretty common in games, not as common because of the increasing popularity of online multiplayer, but some splitcreen is better than non at all

Yes, progress:

1 step forward, 2 back.
Thing is, the constant cutscenes deal? The biggest reason for that is to hide constant map swapping because of consoles very limited RAM. Cutscene or loading screen, thems your choices.

I guess PCs are 'better' if you want to do modding and stuff.

I play on my PS3 because:

a) I don't have to worry about 'requirements' and the graphics are just dandy on the PS3, actually.
b) I just want to play games. And nice games come out for the PS3. Hence, I'm happy with my PS3

At the end of the day, everyone's opinion is their own - I can see the advantages offered by a PC, but I'm happy with my PS3. I can juuuust about get Civ 5 to run on low settings on my PC, but I have neither the time, the money nor the inclination to upgrade it, because there aren't enough games that are PC exclusive that I want to play for me to bother. But again - those are just my preferences. I begrudge no-one the right to mod the hell out of Baldur's gate and kit out their PC with the latest liquid helium coole dprocessor or whatever.

I think everyone should just enjoy playing their games on whichever platform works for them, and stop dissing other people for doing something different. It makes me want to puke when I see the 'gamer geek' type whining on forums about how they hate school cos people are all down on them for being who they are, and then they go and do exactly the same thing by spewing PC elitist/console fanboy hatred all over whoever likes the opposite platform.
If more gamers were like you we wouldn't have these silly console wars.

ive have a bunch of friends who play PC and they think that consoles are worse and so im like screw that but i also see that there are alot of reviewers who also use pc and im just wonadering... whats so special about PC?
Flexibility? The fact that as a system it's open? Much better hardware? Can be used for things other than just gaming, like work? Customization?

Oh i don't know, so many to choose from. Just pick one. The fact is whatever a console can do PC can (often with better results), but no console can do everything a PC is able to.

HDMI cable won't let you set a 1080p TV for rez higher than 1920x1080 (unless it's one of those fucked up 16:10 ratio tvs, in which case it's 1920x1200).

Fine if you're going into specifics then LBP is a shooter, horror, fps, rts, platformer, puzzler, racer
And? On a PC any Source engine game is all those and more.
And you can access any of those things to play with your friends at any time you want without having to download anything?
ya gotta download levels for LBP too, it just might be a little bit quicker.

also, in regards to the Red Dead (no PC port), that doesn't feel like a reason to play on the consoles, it much rather sounds like a reason to Boycott a double crossing dev until it learns it's lesson. (this is rockstar yes?)

modding, 101 buttons on controller, easy to upgrade parts to fit your tastes and budget

mouse is superior for FPS games than the analogues, we dont need aim assist.

if you play games on a laptop, you now have a portable gaming station

internet was made for computers

to me a PS3 and an XBOX are like Apple computers, powerful, but you cant fix them yourself and they cant be upgraded
only difference is one cant play games, the other 2 do only that

Unless your PS3 has magically gained the ability to receive data via telepathy, you can't do it without downloads at some point either.

No, theres no downloading levels in LBP, you press play, it loads like it would for a story level then you are playing, if that is downloading then its not just a little quicker its almost instantaneous

My point was that people should play games on the system(s) that they WANT to play games on. If a Gameboy Color still tickles your fancy, then play it. I play on both a PC and a X-Box 360, just because the games that I personally am into, are on those two systems. There, end of debate.

Anyone who tries to convince you that one system is better than another, should just get curb-stomped.
But that in no way means some can't be superior (and seeing how with the right program you could play those games on a PC i think it's obvious which one it is).

The thing is that even if the PC has the most points in it's favour some of the systems have other advantages that a regular PC won't, like being able to play on the move, while in public transport (handhelds) or simple plug and play (consoles) or something.

And that's what you're referring to (sorry, exclusives don't count because there's nothing about the platform itself that requires a game to only be on it, just the company's money).

PC's can also do a lot more than a console ever can.
Meh, current gen consoles, and even last gen, and you can even argue all previous gens too, are just very custom made computers anyway...

With the right knowledge you could put a PC OS on them and do all those things... of course that would probably cut from their gaming resources and the 5 year old hardware would show even more.

Really? Really? You made a thread to tell PC gamers that you don't play the same format as they do? This is just as bad as a PC gamer making a thread that says consoles suck and whoever plays them suck.

The reason a lot of reviewers prefer PC could be that they enjoy gaming on it more (not to mention they can pause a game and write their review real time practically) just like I prefer to play on consoles.

It's not a matter of which platform you use, it's that you enjoy the platform you use. I'm not comfortable playing games with a keyboard and mouse and I like to just sit in front of my TV and play games instead of sitting at a desk (not to say you can't play PC games on a TV, just usually not right out of the box). It's just a matter of preferences.

Why can't we stop arguing who has the biggest dick so to speak and just enjoy the medium no matter what you use to access it?

that would be because the screen has run out of pixels, you probably know this. but seem to be blaming the cable for you're woes.

I dont think anyone here has actually played LBP, you don't play them off of your PS3, they are published to LBP and you press play then 2-5 seconds later your playing, anyone who has played LBP will back me up

that sorta thing is a little harder to do when you're actually playing in a 3d environment with other people in multiple places. nonetheless, what if your internet drops to a crawl?

EDIT: also, seen the starcraft 2 editor?
the originals editor has eaten MONTHS of my productivity.
come on monnnnneeeey! i want SC2 dangit

Hardly a valid point since you can (just as easily) connect your PC to the TV as well.

And? Steaming content is still downloaded.

Or, to put it another way, try it without an internet connection. Does it still work? No? Then downloading is occuring.
