I do this also. Currently, I am in a Digimon-esque world with my friends, and a love interest, and it's pretty cool. Don't know why I do this, but I do. It's just fun, and there's nothing better to do with my time.

Don't act it, but I definitely do it for my stories. Hell, it's a godsend in my Creative Writing class. Although, I fear I may be a bit too influenced by videogames... *sheepish grin*

My attention span has gotten worse over the years (as demonstrated by the 30-second delay between typing "My" and "attention span"), but occasionally I still zone out and imagine some strange little vignette. I try to write these things down in a journal, or whatever paper is on hand, and then I use them for school assignments. I guess, since I no longer have the luxury of creative writing courses (I'm going into university and studying languages... which is wonderful, but so are stories), I'll have to find time to write them on my own. Oh goodie. <3

As a 28 year old dad I must insist you continue to use that imagination every day for the rest of your life. It's an awesome trait and it will keep you entertained through many boring coference calls/logistics meetings.

And don't fall into the trap of imagining real life stuff like "If I was a millionaire" or "If I was dating the Olsen twins." Stick to the vivid fantasy and enjoy it until you die.

All the fucking time. And I pace while doing it too, especially as a kid when I would walk around outside imagining random stories. I don't usually imagine stories now though, it's mostly music. I always have random tunes, melodies, textures, styles, beats and lyrics, buzzing around in my head and they often form into original song ideas that I sometimes try to create. When I play drums or guitar I often imagine I'm playing along to a song, I fill the place of the other instruments with my imagination.

I often spend long periods of time imagining long political and philosophical conversations with people, most of the time people I have talked to before but I couldn't quite say what's on my mind at the time. I'm not really good at expressing my thoughts on the fly, especially with people I'm not really comfortable with or don't know well. The absolutely perfect thing to say always comes after the moment presented itself for me, and so I replay those conversations in my head but with what I truly wanted to say in place. But occasionally it's with people I haven't met before too.

Video game ideas occupy my imagination a lot as well, some of them I get really detailed and intricate with.

I fantasize all the time. Back when I rode the bus to campus, I'd listen to music, look out the window and let my mind go free. When I was younger, I would fantasize. Even now, I take a trip down that road as a way to calm down and relieve stress. Without it, I don't know how I'd handle life.

I definitely spend way too much time in the non-real world. Whether it's thinking up ideas for my very slowly-progressing novel characters or just dreaming up alternate realities of just a better world, I'd say a good 2/3 of my life is spent in some other world.

It's really great. I just need a better way of putting those ideas in the real world :p

Hey, up to when I was 22, riding the bus home from college, I'd imagine a guy on a hoverboard keeping up with the bus on the sidewalk. I've stopped it now for lack of time, mostly.

Of course, I still roleplay and I'm getting into writing, so imagining is something I've done all my life. I've thought up complex stories from things I made up to help me fall asleep at night.

All the time. The current fantasy that runs through my head is if The Last Airbender was real, and there were real benders in our society today.

I keep my imaganings to my film work. If I fantasise any other time, I tend to get ideas above my station.

I do this a lot, but my story hasn't changed much. I've been adventuring in essentially the same world for most of my life. I've flushed out different parts as I've grown. Geography when I was little, some history in High School, Main characters now that I'm out of college.

Of course I do, especially if I'm bored. My mind will automatically dream up scenarios, characters etc. Heck, just yesterday I was day dreaming about a massive Lord of the Rings-esque battle with the central character leading a courageous charge into a massive horde of enemies. I never act it out, but sometimes I will write it out. I have a notebook just filled with stuff I've daydreamed about.

You know how some parents are harsh to their children and say things like, "If you don't shape up, you will never amount to anything!" or, "You can't change the world with an attitude like that!"

I imagine that, as soon as that child hits the point in their life when they truly believe that nothing they do will have any effect on the future, a time traveler shows up in their lives.

"I'm sorry it took us a long time (from your perspective) to get to you, but we need your help. We had to wait until you could have no possible effect on the time stream to recruit you. History needs saving, and you are one of very few people who can do it."

...and the training begins.

When I listen to certain music, I imagine myself in different situations.

If it's a heavy kind of rock, for example, I imagine myself battling. Silly I know, but I enjoy it.

I still do that from time to time. I find myself daydreaming and thinking up story ideas. I need to improve my drawing capability. It's relaxing, I don't see anything wrong with it. I would recommend maybe joining a gaming group to get your impulses out too. :)

Lawl, when I was 15 years old, I conjured up a plethora of short stories from a sci-fi universe that was centered around colonies on extrasolar systems. It had a lot of stuff in it that was inspired by the scandinavian music that I listen to all the time.

I still have fantasies today, but now they're more aligned with maids with physics-oriented superpowers (Sara Strong, EMily, Winona Weak, and Gwen Gravity). While that's fun and all, I kinda wish I would gain more interest in the old universe that I loved so much as a kid.

EDIT: And to this day, I still listen to the same beats, and some new ones by the same artist that I did not discover until recently. Some of them are really intense; my absolute favorite is "Aliens Alive" by Annbjørg Lien, and it's almost 10 minutes long! Ms. Lien can create the most battle intensive music from just a fiddle and her band, and often I can imagine myself a paladin fighting in this huge epic battle against a titanic black dragon that is disgusted by all that is good and living.

Of course I fantasize, in fact I rarely stop fantasizing.

When playing video games I imagine myself as the main character or the main character's partner.
The same goes for books and movies.

Needless to say I plan on being a fiction writer some day. Or, if my cousin becomes a video game programmer when he finishes school, I'll work with him.
