The whole new Batman series takes itself too bloody seriously, even the Joker, who likes to spout 'Why so serious?' is just too damn serious for a movie that's essentially about a guy dressing up like a bat and fighting crime.

I like a little silly in my hero movies, that's why I prefer the original Batman with Jack Nicholson. That's also why I'd say Iron Man was better than either of the new Batman movies.

That said it was a pretty good movie in theaters. Trying to re-watch it at home however and I quickly grew bored. Ah well!

i find heath ledgers performance is very good but the film as a whole is completely overrated
I was beginning to think I was the only person in the world who thought this.

Christian Bales "Batvoice" was bizarre. The plot was irritating at times (for a supposedly "realistic" Batman it didn't half do some mad things). Maggie Gylenhall was more wooden than the entire Amazon rain forest (why the fuck did they get rid of the one from Batman Begins?). The only good things in it were Alfred and the Joker. In fact that would have made a better film - Alfred vs the Joker.

I'm slightly jealous as I haven't seen it myself yet. Saw the first one through web streaming ages ago, bought the DVD yesterday at CEX. The Dark Knight? I've seen bits of it. Could have sen it the other day but I was too busy. Ah well, I'll probably get the DVD in a while anyway...

Also, I feel this video is somewhat appropriate for the thread. Anyone watching it, also take a look at the Twilight parody and the Shining parody that are included, by the same guy, in the 'embed similar videos' bit afterwards.

Here is my reaction: HOLY MOTHER FUCKING HELL, THAT WAS SO TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!
That, my good sir, is the absolute correct reaction to the awesome-gasm that is The Dark Knight. It is potentially my favourite film of all time

As you may have noticed, I fucking love that film.

I found Tony Stark to be a far more dynamic and compelling character than Bruce Wayne, simple as that.
You have got to be kidding me. Tony Stark is an absolute sellout and a cheap superhero. What kind of hero uses his personae for fame and riches? He's got great power but no responsibility.
At least Bruce Wayne has dignity.

anything Christopher Nolan touches turns to gold. Can't wait to see what he does with Superman and Inception is looking brilliant.

I loved the film, it does exactly what it wants to as an adaptation. It innovates enough to make it fresh and new without alienating fans of the source material which is all you could ever ask for.

Aside from the silly Batman voice of course.

If they make the Riddler the next enemy, they should go with the less comical look in his revamp a few years ago

I'm not kidding at all. In fact, its Tony Stark's sleazy, arrogant, self-serving personality that makes him so interesting. What makes it more interesting is how he tries to deal with it after his change of heart, and how he realizes that so much of what he knew is wrong, and how many lifestyle choices that he's made will need to change.
