okay i'm just gonna randomly acknowledge and rebute (or maybe not) things i remember reading.
(sorry, i just harvested some felweed and am feeling like an altered beast)
1. kinect cannot, and will not be microsofts hat in the ring as far as the next generation goes. maybe it will be a large part of it, say the xbox 720 has the sensor bar built right into the console, while maintaining functionality and ascethetics, that would just be PART of the new xbox. and kinect isn't being used to its potential either. to save kinect, here's some of my advice: firstly a game that incorporates controller AND movement gaming. imagine a mech game where you could sit in the cockpit view, using the controller to move, but then have to reach up with your actual hand to a specific part and go through a shell reloading procedure, or just hit a crazy attack launch button. i'm thinking of a level of interaction that breaks the fourth wall, like having to change controller slots to fight psycho mantis. traditional gaming amplified. movement will never be the sole method of delivering commands to your in game persona, mostly for the reason that it gets incredibly old. imagine a vr completely bad ass graphics game first person shooter, like they played in that one episode of house, well without a dpad on the gun, or some sort of 360 degree treadmill beneath you, you'll be lifting your legs up and down in place to walk. that will get old fast. this movement trend WILL die, and i think microsoft is playing it smart not basing it's whole future on it.
all that aside, there will be major updates though, they're not a (insert large amount of money here) dollar company because they don't know what they're doing and cant handle competition. in one generation, xbox surpassed playstation, in my opinion.
2.i guess the things in the wall about the games shoulda been it's own point. so reread that part if you'd like.
3. xbox live isn't the worst service by far, and from what i can see, you're basing that solely on the need to pay for it. (and by the way, how many of ps3 users have spent how much on Home and Playstation+? freedom isn't free) but the fact is that while (if i remember correctly) playstation relies on servers, which can at any point, be shut down. rendering some achievements (or trophies) unattainable especially for budget gamers getting games later in their lives. whereas xbox relies on player hosted games, meaning that you can still find multiplayer matches in games like Prey. and the wii friend code system is by far the worst set up in the current lineup. if they haven't fixed that haha, i don't know, don't own a wii anymore.
4. lasagna is pretty good. and you're right, the points system needs to go, its an annoying unneccessary middle man.
5. you forget one thing, how many playstation exclusives has xbox borrowed or took outright since last generation? that WILL continue. Metal Gear is both, LA Noir went both, ms jacked katamari (both now) ms jacked gta and got the dlc (both now) ms has the dead rising 2 pro- and epi- logues.
this shit all adds up. personally, i'd like to see nintendo go the way of sega, and just make games. then again, not really, because nintendo has been selling us the same game for over 20 years.
does anyone know what happened to that game that was supposed to be like gta, except you had your bike, and the bike was supposed to be like your companion, and you customize it and shit? i was looking forward to that game.
