After 2 years of deliberation and 6 months of trawling through legal documents and emailing Tell Tale and Ron Gilbert.

I have changed my name to.. Guybrush Ulysses Oblong Threepwood.

Its all official as of Friday Lunchtime.

Oblong because I allowed the people at my work to help choose my middle name.
I had over 200 names and we whittled them down to only 8.

I then let my boss and everyone else in the company take a massive vote and Oblong won by 29 votes.

These were but a few that were suggested:

Rincewind
Tele-marketing
Terminal/Escape Velocity
Animatronic
Mutiny
Meltdown
Core Overload
Flavour Breakdown
Thunderdome
Coupon
Circumbilivaginating
Tiramisu
Lubricant
Throbbing Mountain
Landslide
Diplomatic Immunity
Luciferin
Sextant

Stingray
Whiplash
Jet-X
Liposuction
Cold Fusion
Deathray
Roadkill
Buffy
Prohibition
Jetpack
Online
Chloroform
Banjo
Galaxia
Lobotomy
The Exhumed
Shark Fin
Hawking-Walking
Bedrock
Baskerville
Command Line
Abominable
Executable
Your Face
Blood Bath
Golden Shower
Sub-Orbital

I wont post anymore, but you get the idea. I've not felt this comfortable as a person in a long time. No longer will I grimace whenever my name is mentioned. I'm still the same person inside just with a different name. Its changing everything over that's gonna take some time.

Thought this might be one place I can celebrate, though I expect some trolling. lol

What?

You grimace at your current name, but Guybrush Threepwood is fine? What's your current name? Stinky McButtsmear?

Excuse me, there's something I need to do.

Uh...well done I guess?

I honestly cannot tell if you're serious or just dicking around. In either case, some evidence would be nice.
Totally honest, Ill post a better copy of the deed pic when I've got at the moment. Could upload one now but its a blurry as hell copy.

Not gonna post the whole thing obviously, I wanna celebrate not post legal documents on the net. Will definitely post some evidence. I didn't expect many people to believe me straight away, its a hard one for people to grasp. My Freinds all love it and so does my boss. I love living in a country where you cant be fired for changing your name.

Ha ha, hell yeah. Best GIF I've seen in a long time.

I used to be called Edward Ramsden. I hated my name, was far to British and I always hated the pronunciation.

Also, It was a perfect gift to the people I love and the games series that I adored growing up.

I had to check to see if you were the same person who posted this. But you're not.

Oh well, kudos I suppose...

Congrats!
I see no reason to be judgmental about this, you certainly seem happy with your decision, and you obviously wanted it in the first place so good on ya.

Nah, I didn't really tell anyone apart from my other half until i was on the way to the solicitors, to sign the deed.
To many people brings to much pressure. If I didn't tell anyone I could back out at the last minute and no one would know.
Didn't need to back out though, am really happy with my new name.

Half the reason this world is in as fucked up state as it is, is because people don't want change.
Time to try something that scares you.

Ramsden was "far too British", so you change it to Threepwood, the name of the 9th Earl of Emsworth and his quintessentially British upper class family from P.G. Wodehouse novels?

That's like someone called Andrew Munro deciding his name is far too Scottish and changing it to Bagpipe McSporran.

All I can say is that you have some boring as fuck co-workers if they chose Oblong over Throbbing Mountain, Flavour Breakdown or Thunderdome.

Yes but Threepwood, while British. Isn't as common at Ramsden. I will no longer have to explain that I am no relation to Fish and Chips. Before everyone start saying "Oh you're gonna need to explain Guybrush Threepwood"

Most people, more everyday in fact, don't know who he is so wont even ask.

Plus, I wouldn't change my name if I wasn't prepared to explain it at least a bit.

I hope your boss REALLY likes you 'cos a future employer might not be so humorous.

Good on ya for not inflicting a child with that name but get used to the question "is that your real name?" 'cos Guybrush sounds like the newest Muppet, if I'm honest.

The way I see it, you're not harming anybody but potentially yourself so go nuts. I have to ask though, if you were female would you have chosen "princess Consuela banana hammock"?

Side Tip: Don't get together with a chick named Elaine, unless you want to get mixed up in a ton of crazy voodoo pirate adventures.

EDIT: Hmm, seems you already have someone in your life. Is she named Elaine, by chance?
