I also changed my name today. I will no longer have a name that will help me get a job.

I shall forever be known as, Jerry Dave Steve, The magic man.

I sincerely hope that's true.

Wha-

uh....

Seriously?

I'll just be honest here. If I was an employer and someone came to me called Guybrush Threepwood, I'd think he was joking and turn it down.

So your first name is now "Guybrush"? That's probably the second-gayest name possible, right after Biggus Dickus.
Oh, if only OP's girlfriend was called Incontinentia.

Erm...congrats to OP I guess?

Edit: Oh, and obligatory Nathan Fillion gif:

Congratulations on finding a name that makes you comfortable, OP.

I probably would have gone with Throbbing Mountain or Golden Shower, but it's your call :p

I like how this thread is split into two camps:
Those who are reprimanding OP for making his name silly
Those who are reprimanding OP for not making his name even sillier.

It unfortunately is... Have a look through my friends list on Facebook! His parents were livid with him, especially as he was their only son, so he managed to cut off their branch of the Hull family line with a drunken bet.

It's Guybrush and Oblong that confuse me. Ulysses Threepwood would sound pretty snazzy, but the other two feel a little out of place.

Not that it's any of my business of course.

I can't say that I'd ever change my first name, but then again, nobody ever calls me by it anyway, except at work.

Uh...well done I guess?

I honestly cannot tell if you're serious or just dicking around. In either case, some evidence would be nice.
Totally honest, Ill post a better copy of the deed pic when I've got at the moment. Could upload one now but its a blurry as hell copy.

Not gonna post the whole thing obviously, I wanna celebrate not post legal documents on the net. Will definitely post some evidence. I didn't expect many people to believe me straight away, its a hard one for people to grasp. My Freinds all love it and so does my boss. I love living in a country where you cant be fired for changing your name.
You could have gone all the way and named yourself

Guybrush Oblong Ulysses Threepwood.

As it ever so handily abbreviates into GOUT.

I'd like that.

I won't go into the 'too British' thing beyond... ah, it's already been explained. Well. I sense a certain disconnect with your heritage and culture. That is sad. Well, at least you're a happy camper now. A happy camper with a funny name. Everybody wins.

I have to respect you taking the name Guybrush Threepwood. Mancomb Seepgood would have been dumb, though.

Major props to you on picking the name Guybrush Threepwqod.

It is a bit unusual, but there's nothing at all wrong with Guy as a first name if people thing Guybrush is too weird.

Excuse me while I go change my name to "Cloud Strife" :)

Neat!

Although I would've chosen Rincewind! :3

Reminds me of my idea to give any children I have several names, so they just pick, give a good range.

This thread will die soon, Ill say my final piece and be done with it.

I love my name regardless of criticism and negativity. Thanks to everyone who was supportive and Ill post some evidence soon, if only for those few people who have time for someone, other than themselves.

People are trying to come up with good nicknames now, some are calling me Oblong or obbs, a few people call me Ulysses. To be truly honest, it's definitely not attention I crave. It's giving a few special people (The people in my quad) an amazing chance to have some influence on something as important as choosing a name. Its amazing to see people all excited, about suggesting names and when I'm getting it done Especially as they are all working non stop to get our product ready to be shipped and released. I wanted to give THEM something to own, they have given me so much already. I owe a small part of the world this and I don't regret it in the slightest,

The opportunity I gave them, they might never find anywhere else. A lot of people on here will never ever have the same chance and The best thing about it all? They don't even know I did it for them. I just wanted to see some tired, worked out people excited and happy. It worked Big Time.
