So, I logged in today and noticed I had a message. I went into my inbox, and, God Forbid, another spam bot had apparently fallen head over heels for me and gave me their e-mail. I can't say I was very surprised, seeing as how I get one of these messages just about every week. Today I felt like discussing it though.

I realize I shouldn't get too up in arms about something like this, but I have to admit, it does kind of piss me off. What are these people trying to accomplish? And who on earth would actually believe that a complete stranger suddenly wants a long term relationship after a quick glance at their profile? It doesn't make it any easier to swallow when the message is usually just about identical to the other seven you already recieved that month.

So, has this happened to you yet? Does it happen frequently? Do you even care? Discuss.

Yes, it's happened to me. No, I don't care.
But just so you know, they don't want a long term relationship.

We have spam bots? They haven't bugged me yet... maybe I'm just frightening because of this ghost avatar

I havent gotten any spam on here. But just about every other site with a messaging system that I have an account on I have gotten spam like that. 6 sites had the same username, it was almost funny.

I just don't answer them, much like everyone else, I suppose. If I don't already know you, I am not talking to you via the internet.

Secretly I like the more ignorant ones. Especially of 'some guy' saying that 'his friend' has a big crush on me but is too embarrassed to tell me so I should go to her webcam site to see her titties and talk to her.

I love that. Just imagining a chick that can show off her sin-socket and bewbies but goes "Woah, ask him out? I'm not THAT confident".

I've had them tell me that they saw my profile on warcry.com, a site I've never even been to.

maybe this Warcry [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/401.111754]?
It's a site linked to the Escapist.
just... curious about how this could turn out... spam bots relating info from a site that shares profile infos and such with the Escapist...

I've been getting text messages from spam bots, something like "omg jenny thinks your hot! Lol! Check out her profile at blahblahblah"

and text messages about credit scores.

On this site though, nothing at all.

Me too! Not a traceble source of identification, or any photos of me on the internet. My real name DOESN'T EVEN EXIST. (On the internet) But that's because I have the same first and last name of a famous director... But it helps.
