not that it is a fact.
So how do you get facts then? If all it takes it someone pulling the "it's your opinion" card, there is no such thing as a fact. "This thing we breathe is air." "No it's not, that's your opinion"
Not really. What we breath is called air. That is a fact. Not an opinion. How good an anime series is, is subjective. Therefore it's an opinion.
This is generally true, but there are cases where I dislike things I realize are very good.

I dislike Elvis Presley but I don't deny that he is good.

it might as well be...
OT: I'm glad you could come to terms with anime most people don't realize it's just like any other medium, you know an ocean of second hand bong water with the occasional sparkling magical whale...

Champloo was alright, but it's not really what comes to mind when I think of "good anime." That phrase conjurs up images of the greatest anime ever produced, Fullmetal Alchemist. Intelligent yet hilarious, incredibly dark yet lighthearted, fantastic music, animation, and acting, with plenty of action, romance, and comedy to go around. Damn, is there anything that show *didn't* have?

Death Note is also up there if you want something incredibly intelligent, as is FLCL if you want something incredibly WTF!?-ish.
I still don't get why everyone loved Fullmetal Alchemist. I watched it in Japanese and I hated it. Then I watched it in English and I hated it even more. This took a TON of my fucking time and I want it back.

Everyone I know who likes anime recommended it to me and I don't know WHY. It just wasn't... I don't want to get into it, I could list 50 pages of issues I have with this show.

Please realize, I'm not telling you you're wrong to like it, MOST people love full metal alchemist - I just wanted to vent my frustrations that it just didn't click with me yet everyone loves it so much.

It's called the scientific method. It goes like this:

1. Define the question
2. Gather information and resources (observe)
3. Form hypothesis
4. Perform experiment and collect data
5. Analyze data
6. Interpret data and draw conclusions that serve as a starting point for new hypothesis
7. Publish results
8. Retest (frequently done by other scientists)

You cannot do this with an opinion.

A fact is something you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Fact = Trees are made of wood.

An opinion is a personal preference.

Opinion = I like mustard on my hot dogs.
An opinion is not just personal taste. There are some disturbed individuals who deny the holocaust happened. That's their opinion, and it is flat wrong. It's not considered "un-wrong" because it is their opinion. The majority of people agree it happened, that makes it fact.

Really? I can't begin to understand your logic here so I am just going to stop responding to you before I give myself a headache.

My end point is that when most people agree, something becomes a fact. When Galileo said the earth revolved around the sun, people said no you're wrong, despite it being a fact. At some point, when opinion's are shared by a majority, they become fact. Otherwise nothing can be made a fact because there is always someone who claims otherwise.

If you could please wrap this up quickly take this to a thread outside your getting logic and illogical goo all over my furniture.

As I like anime about vampires and guns/violence I am wondering what is out there that is a MUST SEE for me?

So you are saying that if enough people belive somthing it becomes a perceived fact? Not real but an illusion of a fact? So very confused.

i used t hate anime only having seen crap like dragon ball z and Naruto dribbling out the ass of morning cartoons. but recently i was forcefully exposed in school to a show called samurai champloo which was an interesting clever serious funny re-imagining of Feudal Japan, i liked it, allot, it wasn't just good for anime but it was simply really good. then i found myself watching avatar the last air bender when i had some free time and it was pretty good then it got better and became quite good. then i saw some poor soul eater thing, which was really really really bad. then there was this other violence with little girls thing called elfin lied which just sucked, followed by a quite good and creepy darker than black which would have been very good if not for a ultra painful to tolerate set of gag characters (who as far i could tell nobody liked) and then two more excrement storms i forget the names of followed. In conclusion I've come to terms with anime.
It's like television: mostly polished turd with some gold nuggets mixed in.
hey first off you have great taste in anime:) next id like to recomend to you outlaw star. its funny, has a good amount of action, and has a good story.if you dont mind a complete void of good story and want to just watch people in giant robots beat the ever liveing shit out of each other any gundam will do:) Now i recommend watching a Hayao Miyazaki film they have great story and great depth. hope you like these recomendations:)

You really need to work on sentence and paragraph structure along with some capitalization. It will make your posts a lot easier on the eye and less likely to drive people away.

OT: I think I can give you a prescription to some shows that might change your mind a bit.

First you'll need some good shows to watch. Thankfully I am willing to give you some lists of anime to look at.

All the bolded are must-see.

-Lucky Star
-The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
-K-On!
-School Rumble
-The Great Teacher Onizuka (bad production values, but a good show overall)
-Azumunga Daioh
-Midori Days
-Ouran High School Host Club
-ToraDora

And if you want a little spice in your Slice:
-Welcome to the NHK
-BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad
-Cowboy Bebop (if you must watch one of them, watch this one)
-Outlaw Star
-Trigun
-Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
-Mobile Suit Gundam: 08th MS Team
-Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
-Baccano!
-Full Metal Panic!
-Code Geass
-Desert Punk
-Gundam 00
-Hellsing Ultimate
-Wolf's Rain
-Kino's Journey
-Rozen Maiden
-Now and Then, Here and There (very heavy show)
-Princess Tutu (give it a chance)
-Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
-Death Note
-Red Garden
-Blue Gender
-Monster
-RIN ~Daughters of Mnemosyne~
-Paranoia Agent

[sub][sub][sub](All I can think of now)[/sub][/sub][/sub]

You haven't seen enough anime yet to come up with any good conclusion of the media. See some of these and I'm sure they'll alter your opinion a bit.

I also suggest you do some research on shows before you watch them. Look at the directors, VAs, and studios and their track records. Avoid Shonen at all costs.

You just contradicted your own point. The majority believed the Earth was flat so by your logic, that meant it was fact. Yet we know the Earth is round. That's not opinion. It's fact. As in, undeniably correct.

OT: I loved Samurai Champloo but I never got to see the end :/

It was a fact of the time. A wrong fact perhaps, but a fact.

Alright, just wanted to make a suggestion of something you may like but want to get around the people debating over the difference of fact or opinion...

Try the series Black Lagoon. Its an action series that's rather funny as well. None of the generic over used jokes in most animes but genuinely funny with really well rounded and fleshed out characters.

Whats even better is the dubbers for the series actually gave a shit and its impossible to tell it was even dubbed over unless someone tells you. Well, so says my experiment with the friends i showed.

If you like action that is still funny then its awesome. I can't really explain it, mostly because I am pretty bad at explaining ideas that aren't mine, and likely i would end up ruining some of the jokes, however i say give it a chance. Its funny, full of action, enjoyable characters, and all around great show. Give it a watch.

0_0, I will not talk to a person with Konata avatar that talks of "ecchi" animes.

Shame on you!
Konata plays porn games though.
Illegally, I might add.

When I was young and easily entertained I was into Dragon Ball Z. I also watched Sailor Moon but, that's all that was available to me. Luckily, I had a great friend who introduced me to Akira, Hokuto No Ken and, Vampire Hunter D.

At the moment my favorite anime series is actually Suzuka, a romantic drama (with comedic elements as is the law of anime). My favorite manga is still Petshop of Horrors; the scariest bit being the anime that was made based off of it.

Dude, you need to put in capitals and divide into paragraphs, it's hard to read.

OT: Good for you. Now go watch Full Metal Alchemist (not Brotherhood) and Hunter X Hunter, some of the best anime ever written.
