Ouch... I'm sad now... I sucked at Zelda too, still haven't beaten it =(

But, nonetheless, for the time that i played it (can't anymore, my cartridge was stolen =(. ) It was awesome, and an all around enjoyable experience.

Also, Obvious troll is troll.

OoT is a good game. Zelda is as much about story as minecraft. The enjoyment doesn't come from the game telling you a story, it comes from you being the story; you are making it unfold for yourself. If that isn't your style of game, then go watch a movie or something so a story can be told to you.

That said, Oot isn't the beast-game-ever made like some people say, it's not even the best Zelda game ever. You were hype-trolled.

We at the escapist know Ocarina of Time isn't a god send.

That title belongs to Wind Waker or Majora's Mask.
Dear lord why didn't they just remake Majora's Mask? The whole mask mechanic in it was so much more interesting than the time mechanic in OoT. Not that is was a bad mechanic. It was so good infact that they slapped it into MM as well.

Plus, being a Goron rocks tits.
A Goron? Please. Everyone knows being a Deku Scrub is where it's at.
I must disagree, my good man, as it is a well known fact that Gorons can execute thine sick flips.
Ah yes, but Deku Scrubs can fly and shoot down balloons with their boogers.

Well, I guess they're both out-classed by the Zora, who can play wicked guitar solos. UNDERWATER. You just can't beat that.

I actually agree, the game is lack luster in story, I hate all of the NPCs and think Gannon should kill all of them and I find nothing about it compelling. Twilight Princess had far more for it, however I still like Darksiders far more and as I'm told by everyone "It's a Zelda clone".

Funny, I find SSBB to be the most disappointing piece of shit game in the world and Ocarina of Time one of the most amazing experiences ever (on console). Actually, may I recommend trying it on console because I'm pretty sure it handles very differently (probably a lot worse) on the 3DS than on a good ol' controller.

Also, the thing that disappointed me most about Ocarina of Time was that I found it to easy. All the mobs have similar patterns and it didn't take me long to figure out.

Ya... I'm sorry, dude. But you being bad at games doesn't give you the right to flame them.

I recommend looking for some heart pieces. More health should make things easier.

Also, we don't think you're trolling. We just think you're not good at this game. But that can be fixed with practice!

Still, I've never heard of anyone saying Zelda games were difficult...

To someone that grew up with Twilight Princess, you won't understand the significance of Ocarina of Time.

Ocarina of Time was the first real action game to use lock-on fighting in a non-ship-based scenario. It's the game that made games like Twilight Princess and Wind Waker exist, and really the precursor to all great action-adventure games that aren't full-blown RPGs.

Yahtzee made a great point in his review of the game, that to play Ocarina of Time after playing only the games that were built on it, you miss a lot of the experience and notice the subtle flaws far more often.

Anyway, I think that OoT is great, and I didn't beat it until it came out on 3D. I wasn't interested in those types of games when I was younger, but I certainly like them now.

Maybe you'll grow up (I think we've established that you're likely quite young) later and realize that you like these lighter, simpler adventure games.

Most "classic" games aren't very good. Games don't age well, in fact, games age terribly compared to other mediums. Keep in mind that nostalgia can be detrimental to gaming, its the reason awful games like Duke Nukem Forever sell well. The community needs people like you and me who aren't stuck in the past and actually look for improvement and change. So it's not a bad thing for you to challenge so-called "classics". Mostly, gamers love them because they bring back memories of childhood, not because they hold up well in modern gaming.

That said, I don't have much of an opinion on Ocarina of Time personally, im a PC gamer at heart so I haven't had much of a chance to know enough about Zelda as a series. I played Ocarina of Time on an emulator about 4 or 5 years ago and mostly all I remember is I got bored quickly, but I was young and my tastes have changed since then so I don't pass judgement on it.

The only Zelda game I have an opinion on is Wind Waker, played it through recently (also on an emulator) and enjoyed it quite a bit until near the end when it got repetitive.

I actually enjoyed Wind Waker more, but I wouldn't rank it as high simply for that reason. Honestly, I enjoyed the sailing. I found it relaxing.
You are probably the only other person I've seen who enjoyed the sailing. I love playing games and actively playing them. But sometimes it's nice and calming to plot a course halfway across the world and watch the seagulls, wind and waves fly by. All the while listening to a wonderful sailing theme.
Yep. It kind of bugs me when people discuss games with great atmosphere...most of the time, only dark or somber games are mentioned. While most Zelda games feel like a quest, the sailing makes Wind Waker feel like an adventure. The perfect light-hearted atmosphere.

...I think I'll finish up my Twilight Princess re-play tomorrow and start my Wind Waker re-play again afterwards.

Meh, to each his own.

Although I do find disliking a game because of its difficulty rather... silly. It's not even an unfair kind of hard; I went through those skeletons the first time I fought them.

I don't have a 3ds nor do I plan on getting one until a game i'm genuinely interested in comes out (acctually there are some but not enough yet).

IMO people who create threads just so that they can tell everyone they hate a specific game should get banned.

In short: Who gives a shit? I hate plenty of games, but you don't see me creating hate threads. You have an opinion and that's perfectly fine.

Oh, and to avoid confusion. I'M NOT an OOT fan. Infact I've never even played a Zelda game.

The game is hard? I felt it was fun, and challenging but never hard. I did get stuck a few times when needing to find where to go in a temple, but not impossible.

Second time around, the game becomes really easy. xD I swear, the enemies strength comes mostly from not knowing how to kill them at first.

You know, people say that, yet I still enjoy plenty of NES, Genesis, and SNES games. Even games I never played as a child. I must be really good at tricking myself into liking these terrible classics.

Seriously, there's plenty of great classic games. Sometimes you have to accept flaws, but that's because the classics are what moved the medium forward in their days, and some of the later 2D games aged remarkably well. For example, I played Super Metroid for the first time last year. Marvelous game. I'm sorry, but people really need to stop playing the nostalgia card. I don't replay my favorites because they remind me of a happier time. I replay them because they're my favorites. I don't play the classics that I missed because they were a piece of my formative gaming years that I missed, I play them because I really like older styles, especially 2D platformers.

If you don't like them, that's fine. To each their own, but the community does not need more people who look down on those of us who enjoy more than just the latest fad.

is just one of those games you don't bad mouth on the internet unless you want to get verbally abused. (See Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 7)
also not trying to start a fight and its been about 3-4 years since i last played it, but how in world does anyone bad mouth chrono trigger, FF7 i can kinda understand cuz it gets over hyped and what not, but chrono trigger is right next to ff6 for best 16bit RPG, and a near perfect classic

Hmm, no. I tryed console and 3DS. 3DS was smooth, nice. Console pissed me off.

Console: "Gaddamnit Link, jump you frakking a-hole!!

Turn dangit! Turn!"

3DS: "omg he jumps when I need him to! The camera's so much more smooth."

With console, I gave up on the game when I was going through Dodongo's Cavern, because Link wouldn't jump or turn right and would fall.

On the 3DS, I brushed through Dodongo's cavern without a single complaint.
