[quote/]DIDN'T I SAY IN THE SECOND SENTENCE THAT MY THOUGHTS ON THIS GAME WERE 100% LEGITIMATE?
Indeed, but this tactic of flame deflection carries about as much weight as "Guys, I'm no sexist, but woman should never run for president."

[quote/]And also, for all of you asking why this game is the worst game I've ever played... I've never really played any BAD games, except for Super Mario 64 and LOS:TEN. OOT is worse than these games in my opinion, therefore it is the worst game I've ever played.
And again, why am I laughing at your comments?
.... Regardless of what the masses may furiously bleat, there is an art to trolling, lad... Subtlety should never be forsaken if one is to try his hand at legitimate trolling, and name dropping another game widely revered as a timeless staple of gaming magnificence for no believably organic reason was a fatal misstep.

You opened weak, showed your hand far to early on with the explicit "Why am I loling" comment (Really?), and you finish in a pitiful attempt to spurn more rage through the forced inclusion of another N64 gem.

I'm dissapointed, kiddo... Most respond to this thread with grievances toward your difficulty threshold... But I must express my dissapointment in today's fledgling trolls. You need work, lad... You need much work...

Hehehe, difficulty spikes.
As in any difficulty is very hard in Zelda.
Protip: Bomb the skeletons.
That tip is probably so obvious, I wonder whether or not Navi tells you if you ask.

I didn't really like Ocarina of Time either. I didn't hate it by any stretch of the imagination, mostly because almost all of my complaints are about it being old. First off, I will admit that I'm a bit of a graphics whore and OoT slides just barely under my tolerance. I didn't have a platform as a child or even game much period, so my first system was an Xbox. A few years after I got my 360 I finally gave OoT a whirl and I discovered that I anything this game had done well had been ripped out and re-purposed for pretty much every adventure game ever, so while I appreciate that OoT was a really groundbreaking game for the time, it ends up being more of a museum piece than a game that's actually fun for me to play. Also, I was playing on a computer, and the game was clearly made with a controller in mind, so the controls where really, really clunky. So, basically, I'm sure that if I had been playing this game at the right time and platform, I'd love it to death just like everyone else. But I didn't, so I don't.

The duelling enemies have an honor system. Only the one you're locked onto will ever attack you. Also, I love OOT. It's an early example of good game design, not leading you around by the nose but not dumping you on an island with a single-shot pistol. It also harkens back to when enemies were more complex than mashing the combat button against them.

Funny how you're telling The Escapist not to play this game. Half of us beat this game several times already. WHEN WE WERE TWELVE.

WTF my post didn't ... post...

Long story shhort, if you think this is so difficult and Escapist should not play it, how come a good half of us beat the game multiple times by the time we turned twelve?

Also, did you really just flame a fan favorrite NOT expecting us to defend it? Then run out crying? You haven't been using the internet long, have you?

EDIT: WTF again. My previous post magically appeared the moment I said it didn't post. I find this hilarious for some reason.

Fine. I give up. You all win. I'm going to betray my opinion and call the game that ticked me off more than anything else in the world the greatest thing ever. THE HYPOCRISY IS DELICIOUS.

Or perhaps you're legitimately thinking that I liked the game, but just decided to claim to hate it so I could be a troll. No. I'M NOT TROLLING. Trolling is claiming to hate something good because it will be hilarious to watch people call you an idiot.

Maybe you'd like it if I just cancelled my Escapist account. Would you like that? I'm trying to get it in your heads that the only reason this game is so good for you is because you played it at an age where you'd enjoy Captain N.

Come on moderators, ban me already. I welcome it with open arms.

First of all, that part is not too difficult. Just don't focus on one Stalfos...change around a bit so you kill them closer together. Spin-attack, man, spin-attack!

Secondly, it's regarded by several people (including me) to be the greatest game ever made for one it brought to the medium, not because no designer has succeeded in making a more enjoyable game. Just the opposite. We call it the best because over a decade of technological and design technique advancements improved on its groundwork. This is our Citizen Kane. You don't have to like it, but you should respect it. Almost every game you've played since Ocarina first came out was influenced by it in some way. Personally, I prefer its successors, but that doesn't mean I scream "Nostalgia!" every time someone likes Ocarina more than Twilight Princess.

Super Mario 64 is a similar case. While not quite as big as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, it did set up for it. These two games gave us modern gaming as we know it. They were more than Mario and Zelda's 3D Leap...they were gaming's 3D leap.

Part of the problem is you seem to be too young to recognize what Ocarina did. I was young when it first came out, and it would be many years before I beat it, but even little Starwarsgeek knew he had never played anything quite like it before. We aren't blinded by nostalgia, you just have different tastes and don't know how much Ocarina and Mario 64 changed gaming, and I don't blame you...it's really hard to appreciate something when you're already used to it. Although I know they're a big deal, and I still enjoy them, I can't really appreciate how much Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda changed things for the NES.

Now, if you excuse me, I have a play date with a dream princess.

What flaws??? The only thing you've mentioned is that A. You use the Sheikah stone, a built-in-player's-guide that DID NOT EXIST IN THE ORIGINAL, and B. You can't beat an enemy that, despite having a shield, is as easy to beat as simply mashing the attack button.

I'm serious. Someone mentioned using Bombs, I think you can hit it with Deku Nuts or the Hookshot to stun them, but quite frankly, if you just spam your sword, you eventually get a hit or two in between shields. And god forbid you paid enough attention to find out "Rotate the joystick a full circle and attack to do a no-MP spin attack." I swear, I've killed two of those guys at once just spamming that move.

There is no secret that the game's original controls did not transfer perfectly. Using the L-Trigger is a little unusual/uncomfortable for some, so I guess maybe you'd lose target now and then and that can be aggravating. But you're complaining about the difficulty of a game that a large portion of people on these forums beat at around half your age.

I personally don't give a damn that you hate the game, that's not my business. WHY you claim to hate is is laughable though. In the whole of the game I had a hard time with one dungeon, the fabled water temple. The game is easy enough that I beat it without Z/L targeting in fact that's the only way it has ANY sort of difficulty curve at all. secondly, NO zelda game ever has had an in depth story to it. That's not why people play them, at least I don't think so. If you want an in depth story, go play an RPG like FF or more preferably a Bioware game before mass effect 2.
Action/adventure games like Zelda just don't have that kind of depth you seemed to be expecting.
Half, if not the whole reason people bought the game was for nostalgia factor. It pretty much set the modern template for the current zelda games.
If you are visiting the sheikah stone so often you perhaps should listen to navi who will periodically tell you where to go. She really will, just give her a listen. Though it honestly sounds like you are either trolling or just really aren't good at video games. Perhaps going back to something simpler might be in order? Or at least find a new way to troll harder.

Actually, trolling is doing something deliberately trying to intice a negative reaction out of people for your enjoyment. And I like Ocarina of Time, and I was only 4 when it came out, didn't play it seriously til a few years ago. And no part of it was hard. I'm not a fan of the old style hard anyway.

It's one of the few games where I'd listen to the music by itself outside of the game, and it's just a good game. JUST BOMB THE FUCKING SKELETONS.

Ah, it's been a while since I've seen such Flames on a Thread.... I shoulda got some popcorn.

In all seriousness, you really hate a game because it's too hard for you? Personally, I feel like you could have much better reasons to hate it. Then again, I've played games where dying less than 1000 times during a playthrough is something to be honored, so...

I suggest to you, should you genuinly not be trolling and are willing to recieve input, and are still willing to play Ocarina of Time 3D, to go to the Lon Lon Ranch, go ahead and get Epona, and then start working on the Big-Goron Sword Sub Quest. The Big Goron Sword is the shit, and if you do get it, you will be able to about rape everything.

If you're still having troubles, how many empty bottles do you have? Try to get all 3 that you can (Lon Lon Ranch as a child from the big fat guy, the chicken lady with the allergies in Kakariko Village as a child, and the obligatory Storyline Quest for one). While you're fighting and practicing on the enemies that require a little bit of sword play to defeat, extra fairies in bottles increases your longetivity, and you should eventually be able to get guarding their attacks and stricking them when they are the most vunerable.

Personally, I find it weird that you struggle with the Stalfos. You took on Wolfos and Lizalfos to even get this far, so you should have experience with the sword-play like enemies... the only difference with the skeletons is that you have to kill them faster. Still, practice should help...

With that said, if everything has been done, practiced as much as you can, and you still can't get through it... I'm sorry to say this, and I know it's rude as hell, but you must genuinly be bad at video games... Considering what you've been through to get to that part, I still don't see how you're stuck there.... Although considering some of the responces so far, it's even harder to see you not being a troll....

What a pretty silly reason to hate OoT. It wasn't my favorite Zelda game, Wind Waker holds that spot. But OoT certainly wasn't so hard that it couldn't be beaten, it just takes patience, concentration, and determination, though it seems more an more that the kids in the generations under me have none of those skills/qualities in them.

You gave me a good laugh though when you said that your favorite game is SSBB. SSBB is a game that is in no way difficult. It's a triple cake walk compared to all fighting games. After I zipped through the campaign thing, I decided to see how much of a challenge the game could throw at me. So, I set myself one on one with several different CPU characters that were set at the highest setting and I flattened every single one of them. I then played several where I put more than one in to fight, I destroyed them over and over again.

SSBB is child's play. Yeah, it is sometimes fun to play, but not from a challenge standpoint.

My recommendation is to start playing a good portion of the old classic Nintendo games, from the NES and SNES, now those were challenges.

Go try and beat Super Mario Bros. 3 without whistles, or doing the hidden cheats(like the swim under the boats thing, on the boat level in the in Dark World final area).

Just goes to show you that all modern games are spoiling new players with "normal" difficulties being the cakewalk that very easy difficulty used to be in older games. God forbid somebody sticks one of you scrubs in front of a game like Battletoads. You'd have an aneurism and drop dead from frustration on level 1.
Nah, the first two levels of Battletoads are easy. Now if you said to have him try the hover bike section of level 3, then he would have an aneurism.

I wish my copy of the game still worked properly. Most times now when I am on level 2, halfway through it blips, my toad's sprite disappears, and then after a few seconds it restarts the level over again. Sometimes it happens three times before I can beat the level. I don't know, maybe back in the day they actually programed the game to be glitchy so that it would be harder.

Personally I miss that level of difficulty, I played spirit tracks and even twilight princess and never died... like ever.. seriously games should be hard, at least hard enough that victory feels like an accomplishment rather then holding your hand.
