"I could care less" meaning "I don't care at all"

Well, if you could care less, that means that you do, in fact, care.
I hate that one. If they say "I couldn't care less" then they're doing it right. I don't get how people can possibly think they're grammatically correct in saying "I could care less".

This.

Or when someone thanks God for something that was done by a person. For example, the episode of Scrubs where Doctor Cox's sister prays with a family then the medicine finally starts working. Cox asks her to admit that medicine made the man better, she agrees then adds "Thank god for creating medicine." because you know, the hard work of people isn't really theirs, it's gods.

I've had people say that about a few things and it just annoys the hell outta me.
People who are ignorant with religion in general. I mean, I'm a (somewhat) devout Catholic, but some people are utterly stupid. I like to take the approach of the Bible verse, which goes something like "God has no hands but yours, no eyes but yours, no mouth but yours..." etc etc. Don't know the actual verse, but that's how I take it.

OP: Whenever people say "Everything happens for a reason". Assuming you're taking a non-literal interpretation of it, and tying it to fate and destiny and what not, it just pisses me off. In my eyes, destiny and fate are constructs of some form of divine being or come from some other spiritual basis. When completely atheist people say it, it just gets on my nerves so badly. I fail to see how someone could believe in fate or destiny without them coming from some greater place.

That was very convoluted, but I hope someone can understand what I mean/see where I'm coming from.

"Why So Serious" - But only when used by people who don't grasp its meaning.
"Same Difference" - I just fucking hate that line.
"The Lord Works In Mysterious Ways" - I think ive seen that above me, but ill say it as well.
"Its Just My Opinion, To Each Their Own" - There are many reasons this is incorrect.
"Treat Others As You Would Like To Be Treated" - Tell that to the Government, and i beg to differ.

"Wherever we go, there we are."

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT EVEN SUPPOSED TO MEAN? It's like a Buddhist koan, except stupid! D:<

Also, a popular verbal tic I've noticed around this region: "must be gonna." As in, "they must be gonna build a McDonald's there."

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. STOP SAYING THAT! IT MAKES YOU SOUND STUPID! Say something like "it seems as though" or "it looks like" or "they're going to"!

I totally get why people I do it I guess, but when you do a favor for someone like fixing their car like I had once and they "Thank god you know what you're doing." I turned and said "God didn't train me, my Dad did and I was sure to learn so I know." They scoffed at me like I was mocking them, I was simply stating that it wasn't Gods work, it was mine. I'm not religious, but I'm not against religion, I just hate how people bring it up so often in that kind of way when it's not needed.

I get what you mean about that as well, and that's why I never say it.

No.
Sense.
The difference between the two is equal ... though I only use it in context, not as a way of saying "I have no idea what you said, but I'm still right"

OT: That eye for an eye thing is true for me, also "We just have to agree to disagree" No we bloody don't! This isn't about bloody opinion and therefore I am right!!! *rage*

So, you don't think I'm sexy enough. Also, I'm really not a nice guy. Oh well, now I don't have to take you out to dinner anymore.
Bitter maaaan.

I hate when people go "well, you're entitled to you're own opinion." Let's translate. "I can't find anything with that you're saying, but I'm firmly set in my existance of being a stupid asshat so I'll ignore what you just said."

People on Deal or No Deal who say "Well I came here with nothing..."

Bullshit, you probably spent hundreds of bucks and took weeks off work just to drive to the studio! Your not really optimistic about winning that $50 are ya?

Also, when people say the glass is not half empty, its half full. Well guess what buddy, that doesent matter when you have alot of glasses!

"It's always in the last place you look"

This always pisses me off. Only a massive idiot would keep looking for something after they find it, so this is essentially true by definition and saying it is always a massive waste of time because anyone with a brain already knows.

I totally agree. Why is it so hard for these people to just thank other human beings for help? For example: You could say "Thank God I passed my exam" or you could give yourself a pat on the back for doing well, a bit of self-confidence might help you more than thanking your god
Do you take everything so literally?

Yes. Yes I do

I dislike most sayings. There's seemingly one for every situation, but there's usually one contradicting it too. It just seems like a meaningless statement used to justify a position without resorting to reason.

"Cool story, bro." If I give a valid point and you dismiss it out of hand as opposed to actually responding or conceding I get pissed. Really REALLY pissed.

I got in an argument on WoW with the whole Pirates vs Ninja thing, just for fun, with a guy in my guild. I used X-men for my proof and he started saying that "They're not a ninja" for whatever character I mentioned. It's important to know two things at this point, one: I am a geek. Two: There are a lot of ninjas in the x-men. I used psylocke for this example, had a book in front of me saying outright that she was a telepathic, telekinetic, ninja. About an hour went on before I just logged off and punched a wall because I was giving valid points and he was using that god damn phrase, and now I hate the phrase.

"You can't have your cake and eat it to" It irritates me because every one says it wrong. It makes no sense saying it this way but the proper

"You can't eat your cake and have it to" makes sense. It means you can't physically dispose of the yet still maintain a state of having the cake before you.

Not you can't have a cake but we expect you not to eat it. If you told an adulator the first one they would think "yes i can" and if you told them the second one they would say "Piss off, i am trying to bone this woman who isn't my wife!"

That being said "Piss off" "Take The Piss" "No, Really?" also get on my nerve.

OT: "Atta' Kid." is usually said whenever someone does something good or admirable around my school.

No, really? That just takes the piss that does.

Most chav slang winds me up but I wouldn't say I get angry, more like dissapointed in people for making up using such phrases and words.

Can any non brits understand what this means? "Nah bruv that geser is safe, he went into the shop for us and got us some tabs so you don't need to spark him. Check out them fit girls they're gagging for it you get me?"
