You know that it's not a good sign when you find yourself saying/shouting/screaming those words aloud at the screen (or just softly to yourself). When did this last happen to you? Don't pretend it never has - if you are the silent type, the question is: when was the last time you shut off the program/console mid-game in disgust?

For me, it's Little Big Planet. Girlfriend bought it for my birthday in November and we thought it'd be fun to play together...yeah, right. Controls are so bad that she couldn't get past the third stage, so we had to give up on co-op. Next point; controls are so bad it is no fun to play even for a seasoned gamer like me (even though it is real easy and short, I suspect the control problems were purposefully added to make the game last longer than 2 hours). It's an excercise in frustration, made worse by the utter pointlessness of it all. Lacking motivation, characters and story, the game is just a long sample reel for the editor part, which doesn't interest me in the least. I've failed to see the point in game creating tools ever since the "Shoot'em Up Construction Kit" for the C64, and LBP hasn't changed that a bit.

May be just me...but anyway, that's a game that frequently causes me to utter those three words instead of cursing. (Heck, not even Mirror's Edge caused me to say it, and that was surely the worst game I played last year:)
What's yours?

Grand Theft Auto 4, I keep trying to give it a chance, but the annoying and unfun car controls and Brucie keep me from enjoying it.

Also Rock Band/Guitar Hero/Whatever... call me crazy but they kind of annoy me. It's either one person hogging the instruments, my friend telling me how great his "real" band is and other such frustrating things. I just don't like playing it.

Oh yeah... and Mario Party, I have the worst luck in the universe with party games. And the only ones I ever win at are ones everyone else hates.

Usually when I scream "I HATE THIS GAME!" I mean "man this is so hard yet kinda awesome!" because for some demented reason I like games that challenge me. Grand Theft Auto 4 is the best example of this phenomenon.

If I don't like a game I won't let it get the best of me, I just delete it and never touch it again EVER :D

Brawl, and I still hate it! The gameplay is 10 times better in Melee but I can understand people would get sick of it since it has been out so long.

Earthworm Jim 3D. completely destroyed the series with crappy controls, ugly and boring levels and very poor attempts at being funny(a cow general gets hit by a cow. har har HAR!).
should have known not to buy anything with 3D in the title (like Sonic 3D wasnt enough).

Sonic The Hedgehog for the 360 is the most recent, but other games it has happened for are Fuzion Frenzy 2 (only game I every returned after buying) and Resident Evil: Zero Mission (or hour, I forget) That game was my first RE game I ever played, and so far, the last. Having to find fire to kill the zombies is dumb when they are your main enemy. Later I found out that that game is very hated and most RE games are not like that, so RE5 will be my second shot at the series.

I have some similar situations happen to me. I call it "The Hitman Effect" but its a bit different for me. Its where I play a game and say I hate it and plan to never play it again only to play it again later on and find I like or even love it. Hitman: Blood Money was the first to have this happen, hence the name, but Splinter Cell: DA and Armored Core 4 both had the Hitman Effect for me.

I thought those platforming bits were rather fun, difficult at times I agree! But I really got a sence of reward when I got through them!

Do avoid anything with "3D" in the title, apparently, that's the best bit of it; fuck everything else.

I often get pissed off at cheating AI in multiplayer games. The "easy" AI on Worms Open Warfare is pretty awesome at drawing parabolic paths. The only salve from me taking them back is the actual multiplayer.

Xenosaga: episode 2

The combat in this game just really turned me off of it, which sucks because I loved the first game, and not beating the second is preventing me from playing the third

The last time I turned off a game in disgust because I truly hated it was KingdomHearts2. It was because it was too easy. I think it was around the time they sent 1,000 enemies or something like that and said I had to beat them all, each enemy falling under one hit. My mind randomly turned off as I continually hit one button, the 'kill' button, and after a point I realized that I wasn't enjoying myself in the slightest. The rest of the game was pretty much like that. There were two buttons: kill and instantly kill. And they sent wave after wave of the same gothic enemies at you.

That's not to say I've become angry at a time. I was piss-angry at the second to last Spyro on the Wii, and I hit a boss in Grandia 3 that requires copious amounts of grinding to get past (when grinding wasn't required for the last 1.5 CDs). This boss completely broke the flow of the game for me for being so mercilessly hard. However in these cases I never say I hate the game, I put down the controller and look at a walk through. They make the game challenging, but that's exactly what I want in a game. Where's the fun if I continually live?
