How so? Ad-blocking programs aren't illegal. Fine, they may be unethical, but it's not like I'm insulting someone and saying that there content isn't worth my time. It's saying that I don't want to watch 30-second videos before I actually move onto the reason I pressed the "Play" button.

Ads are always going to be annoying, but they are also inevitable.
I personally hate advertising, it treats people like total idiots and assumes it will make them buy things.
BUT The Escapist needs it to make money and keep a great site going, so you can't complain too much.
Really as long as I don't have to look at it, I don't mind. Banners along the side of the site or around the videos are fine, I can ignore those, but when we are forced to watch these ads IN the videos (or pull up another tab and wait for it to be over) that goes a bit too far. The ad companies pay either way, please choose the options your viewers don't hate.

There's nothing wrong with reminding the Escapist of what it's viewers want, you just have to be reasonable as well. My only request is to have little (or no) forced interruption of videos.

And thank you Escapist for listening before and stopping those De Blob pop-out ads

The only thing that anoys me is that at the end one starts, when I watch a part back I have to wait another minute AGAIN, though I understand why they have them, it's one of these "deal w/it" things.

I don't care about pre-video ads. They pay for the show, and the costs associated with streaming. What pisses me off is those ads that when you click, a thing pops up that has the video player and a MASSIVE ad surrounding it. I can never get the video to work when they have those things on.

You realise there was a time on TE before Yahtzee, yes? Before that time, ZP was just a couple of youtube videos on a crappy mic.

The Escapist then discovered him, and offered him money to continue ZP through them. He's since been here for a long long time, and has a large back catalogue of videos. What I think you're missing is that to keep this vast amount of past videos and articles online and available for anyone to watch also costs money.

If people such as yourself want to revisit some of the older material, then there has to be a way to pay for that material to remain available.

i am well aware of that mr. pedantic. however you do realise that Yhatzee pretty much made the site what it is today, in the early days most of the traffic brought to this site was initially because of his videos.

Anyway all i was saying is have been at the site since ZP started (or there abouts).

Well, I never like ads, but the escapist is not that obnoxious with ads. They used to play ads in the beginning of video clips, but they stopped that now. They just show the ad around the video, which I think is better.

Defiantly this. The escapist has gotten way better with their ads and I enjoy the site more because of it. Not to long ago I almost gave up because If I saw another one of those slim Jim adverts I would have to kill someone, thank god they stop those. Now all I'm waiting for is for this Captcha phase they're going through to slowly die off too. But its free for the most part and I'm happy to increase their traffic for the forums and they awesome videos. Would pay for the pub club but don't have the money at the time.

OH back to the point. Stop your bitching.
