I have a very slightly... 'unique' problem (only slightly unique!)

nose canceling headphones... the soundproofing your home idea works for me. I use heavy insulation between the walls. Since some sounds can still get through and I really need to sleep, I use nose canceling headphones.

I know one guy, that made an enclosure like box around his bed with sound proof insulation/foam on the outside. That way he doesn't sacrifice his workspace, just his bedspace.

Either read a dull Victorian-era book or watch an excessively dull movie. Works most of the time for me. Good movies to choose from: City Hall, Power, Silver City, Valkyrie (it drags in the middle), City By the Sea, or any political movie really.

I know what I would do...

Unfortunately, it involves purging the festival grounds, and the people on them, with fire...

But hey, it could still work!

sleepingpills!!! You can beg your doctor for pills so strong you'll never wake up. But due to the likely fact that you do want to wake up I suggest a weaker pill. Just talk with your doctor. My dad got sleepingpills so easy it's almost scary!

Don't sleep, just consume copious amounts of caffeine the next day and crash hard after the festival is done

People near where I live are constantly throwing big parties with loud music blaring at night. I just try getting into the beat of the rhythm and soon I just pop off.

Right, let me explain my situation. It is currently about 11:30 pm and I intend to go to sleep soon. Only 1 problem - I live in Reading, England.

Anyone living in England might know that my town is currently in the middle of Reading Festival - one of the biggest rock festivals of the country, second only to Glastonbury Festival.

The problem lies in the fact that my house lies happily in the area in which I can't hear the music enough to actually appreciate it, but can hear it enough to keep me awake, all bloody night.

One solution would be to actually go to the festival, but I intend to go on Sunday anyways, and buying a ticket now would cost about, say, £100-150. If your lucky.

So, Escapists! I have this problem every year - how do I finally stop it?

Oh god, just don't. I'm sure the festival goers would be really happy to find a Patient Demon nibbling at their ankles.

earplugs are good, I used to live on a direct line between a nightclub and the bus stop.
Though Reading is quite loud so i would suggest this...

or cancel the sound out with destructive interference

If you can't quite hear the music well enough to appreciate it, get drunk. Then you'll probably love it. Then fall asleep like a baby. Problem solved.

why not? it might cut down the noise....

soundproof not only your windows as captain pancake pointed out, but your walls as well.
