Because people are assholesNinjaDeathSlap said:3 words for you... The Dallai Llama.
Now a question... Why are people so willing to ignore the plentiful examples of humans not being assholes whenever they feel like being cynical?
A totally facile and irrelevant statement. You are still in no position to comment upon the whole of humanity based on your unimaginably limited experience of it.DoxyGrim said:The fact that I have a right to type, say, or think whatever I want.
Well perhaps you should be disrespectful to yourself then? Don't want to be a hypocrite after all. What a lovely paradox you are.Danny Ocean said:I've never put any thought into that. I dislike being human, but I've never felt any disrespect ... for myself based on that.
If everyone is stupid, then the nature of the term 'stupid' leads one to conclude that no-one is stupid. You're contradicting yourself with that one simple statement. Then maybe it would be better to rephrase it as "people are stupid."
Oh don't be so formal about it. I don't really care if you respect my opinion or not, or if you have the right to free speech or not. Those are all just vacuous distractions. Simply discuss the core substance of the matter.Again, I'm trying to be civil here, and I don't want you to think that I'm being hostile. Not saying that I think that you're being hostile, but I don't want you to think that I don't respect your opinion.
It seems to me that you sound younger than DoxyGrim, even though you have achieved the grand old age of 19, and accrued the vital experience necessary to lecture others. Power to the peaceful.Danny Ocean said:A totally facile and irrelevant *SNIP*
When he said it was too much you could of just said don't worry about it its on the house. It's a fucking large soda who cares? Ok, so he went through your tip jar and acted like an asshole. Just the next time he comes in, if he does, refuse service to him. You have that right.Kopikatsu said:...for many reasons!
It would take forever to go over all of them, so...I'll just give an example of what happened at work the other day. There was a guy who ordered a large soda, so, I gave it to him. Then after drinking part of it, he asks how much it is, despite there being a GIANT menu sign behind the counter, and so I tell him, and he says "Nah, that's too much."
So...he dug through the tip jar for the cash, handed it to me, then left. I was so stunned that I didn't even say anything...and he didn't even give me enough to pay for the thing. (Sales tax...)
Why are people such assholes?
I know. Like those people who complain about the most trivial of things when others are fighting wars for them, when millions of people in third world countries are dying, when people can be executed for speaking out against their government. It's amazing how many people trivialize these things while playing up their own, at best, minor annoyances.Kopikatsu said:Why are people such assholes?
OH MY GOD! rainbow dash's hair is the american flag! OH MY GOD!!!!! im a MLP-knower-abouter.Bags159 said:Obviously because he is unaware that Friendship is Magic.Kopikatsu said:Why are people such assholes?
I don't know what I would have done in your situation to be honest... that's ridiculous. Glad I never had anything like that happen to me when I cashiered at Kroger (although someone did try to shortchange me. Yeah, you're really subtle when you try to pay for a $.99 pack of gum with a fitty).
Naaa wouldn't work, you see at fast food places like that where shit is cheap they ask for the money THEN give you the food, the mistake this guy did was he bought someone he hardly knows lunch then just expected out of the goodness of his heart that the man would pay him back. Which might I add he afore mentioned he had been given MANY reasons NOT to do just such a thing... Sounds like the this guy was never taught not to associate with strangers...Actual said:I wonder if I could eat for free that way, just order a burger from McDonalds and then wander off without paying. Are they really going to bother chasing me or calling the police?
I was wondering when someone would point that out. I'm glad you think I sound young- most of my peers beret me for sounding too old. I must be getting frustrated that yet another teenager has lost faith in mankind for the most trivial of reasons and based on such limited experience.Levethian said:It seems to me that you sound younger than DoxyGrim, even though you have achieved the grand old age of 19, and accrued the vital experience necessary to lecture others.
You're pointing out the idealism of my avatar as if it somehow takes away from the point I'm trying to make to the other person, even though the two things are entirely unrelated and you'd see from many of my other posts that I'm far less idealistic than that picture might lead you to believe.Power to the peaceful.
Fixed. And you might want to edit your post - makes you look like you're arguing with yourself.
Really? You consider that 'outsmarting'?OmniscientOstrich said:Welcome to the club? Although, the example that you listed just sounds like you got outsmarted. Yeah, most people are assholes just savor the few that are actually decent/likeable.
Did you read the rest of the comment where he dug into the tip jar and used that to pay (not enough) and went off on his marry way?CarlMinez said:People are assholes because we constantly find new ways to destroy ourselves and our environment, not because some guy you met the other day doesn't know how much a large soda costs.
