Chances are it's a fake. I mean common, it's Facebook. Not exactly a 'reputable source'.

Regardless, I wouldn't really care. "Oh no, a celebrity died..." Overwhelming meh.

It's a rumor. I don't tend to believe rumors, only when it shows up on the news (and I'm starting to trust that less, too).

I love how we're always ripping on Fox News for being so obviously fake, and then we turn around and get our news from random Facebook groups.

As a teacher I would accept Wikipedia as a credible source before Facebook. He isn't dead.

Really?

Anyways, I heard he died, too. Apparently from Cardiac arrest or something. Not sure about any of the details beyond that, though.

Hey, their science articles aren't bad.

Stuff on politicians though, that is usually suspect.

A good teacher never accepts encyclopedias as sources, not matter how good the articles are.

Yes, Wikipedia makes it a pain in the ass to make your own articles and a little too much effort to edit. Facebook is three buttons and 4 minutes and you have a group like this. A 30 second internet search tells you he isn't dead.

Possibly, but a really good teacher tries to teach his or her pupils how to do proper research, I'd say.

Wikipedia is like any other source: only as strong as its references and quality of writing. It generally acts as a smart jumping-off point, even if its direct use is usually discouraged.

Exactly. Just like any encyclopedia.
