I highly doubt Skyward Sword is the "Best game ever made"

Maybe I'm just worried that it might steal GOTY from Skyrim, idk. It just bothers me that people are giving a Wii game good reviews...

1) Why do you, as a consumer, care what is considered the game of the year. Seriously, how does a well received game affect your enjoyment of a different, also well received game.

2) Hate? You hate the Wii? Okay, you're allowed to hate things, but you are admitting a strong bias against the Wii and Wii games and then decide make a thread dismissing the good reviews of a game in a legendary (yes, I know) series like Zelda. You think Nintendo went as far as to buy a good reviews, when being a Zelda game likely would have gotten great reviews anyway unless it was absolutely terrible. We all have opinions, but given what's behind yours, why should anyone take this seriously.

Your taking this entire post too seriously my friend. I'm just saying that it seems a little ridiculous that all these game reviewers are calling this "the greatest game of all time" when to me, it looks ordinary.

watch the gametrailers review, it still gives skyward sword a good score, but the reviewer wasn't particularly enthusiastic about the game.

The "best game ever made" is entirely up to opinion. For example, the "best film" is apparently Citizen Kane. While that is a wonderful movie, it is not, in my opinion, the best film of all time.
In games, the "best film" seems to always be OoT. I would say TIE Fighter. Again, it's all a matter of opinion. So don't worry about it.
But if we're still gonna worry about it: if there's any new game that I think could claim the title of "best game," it'd be a new Zelda. I mean, it's been ages since OoT. They had to top it eventually...

Yes, it is possible for a Wii game to be good, there is nothing alarming here. However, I'm pretty sure it's not the best game ever, but maybe the people you listen to have yet to actually play a better game.

haha jesus, i think you hold the record for most quotes on one page...people are quite pissed off at you it seems, the irony in them asking why you hate/get pissed off at the wii, when they are in fact getting pissed off at you for pissed off about being pissed at the wii...

still, i can see where your coming from, i've always hated the wii's controls and the shitty thing overheats it's crappy hardware way worse than my ps3/360 ever has, so i too have a bias towards it (not to say i don't enjoy some super smash or other gamecube games on it though..with gamecube controllers.)

still, people definitely misread your intentions with your post...i certainly took it "lightheartedly" while most people didn't seem to understand that..

It's the same thing every year. Around the fall all the big blockbusters come out and everyone always calls them the best games ever made; I see people doing it right now with Battlefield 3 to. Contrary to what everyone else thinks, I don't think people loved old games better just because of nostalgia, BUT I do think newer, shinier things often seem more amazing then they really are. It's once we look back at them after the initial excitement that things can be judged more fairly. Hindsight is more likely to be 20/20.

That said I am a die hard Zelda fan (half my room is covered with Zelda stuff) but even I have a hard time believing this new game warrants a perfect 10. I have just not been impressed with anything I've seen video or picture wise. It just looks like Windwaker 2.0 and in the sky... I hated Windwaker :/ I still pre-ordered the collectors edition of SkywardSword, and I will give it an honest chance, but I would be shocked if it turned out to be even half as good as people say.

Not gonna lie, friend, I feel the same way, but for the other game. I'm worried Skyrim will steal Zelda's wholly deserved thunder. In my head it already is the (miles) better game, despite the fact that I'm 10 hours into Skyrim and have not played Skyward Sword. I'm not keen on the Wii myself as a system but I can't deny Zelda.

It honestly bugs the fuck out of me, despite my love for Skyrim, how stupidly trended it is in here. Don't they know Zelda's coming?! I have no logical reason for it except that Zelda is the only game I'm a fanboy of. Made me a gamer, gave me my love for Fantasy, pretty much helped shape me.

S'all good though. We can chill together in the Illogical Corner and swap stories, dovahkiin.

You've basically just invalidated your argument. You're biased, you hate the Wii and Wii games. Skyrim could have been released on the Wii and you'd hate it because it's a Wii game regardless of quality or content.

You're just as bad as the Zelda fans by saying Skyrim is GOTY anyway, just on a different side of the coin.

Not being a zelda fan, not being 12 and not being blinded by nostalgia I think I can safely say that Skyward Sword looks more like one of the worst games ever made. Crap graphics,crap platform, fighting blob monsters, oh yeah, definitely the best game I have ever heard of.

If this game beats Skyrim in anything (which is extremely unlikely - unless of course there is an 8 years and under GOTY category) then it proves there is something wrong with the gaming industry.

I wouldn't be too worried, before I read this post I thought it was just another average release nostalgic fans were praising.

Heres the problem. Being a gamer who didn't really begin to "game" until 2003 and never really was a huge zelda player or fan I really can't help believe that nostalgia (Yes, that horrible word, I don't like either but forgive me) is affecting how they react to the game.

Now, here is where you can give me flack and humiliate me because all I've played of the zelda series is Magora's (Magoria's?) mask and twilight princess and while they were both good and fun games they just really never sucked me in.

So, maybe as a gamer who is unfamiliar with the golden age of Nintendo nor as someone who has never played skyward sword I have no right to say this, but I really seems that Nintendo has just been riding and milking the same series for over a decade now and really should not be encouraged and allowed to do so.

If it's a good game what does it matter what system it's on? Being on the Wii doesn't automatically mean it can't be a good game. Even if it does win game of the year, so what? It won't make Skyrim any worse, maybe it deserves it more? Who knows.

you are both right and wrong it can still be a good game but will have stupid gimmicky annoying controls making it bad
