I think I would like the girls in the videos if there was more to them then just T&A. Also showing them playing a game but never explaining or telling us in anyway what is going on isn't helpful, maybe sprites as an overlay on the video on what is going on would be helpful. I would care more, if I had a clue what was going on.

I think "it's too hard to follow" comments are hilarious.

Episode 1: They say who they are and that they play D&D.

2: They get given a mission and agree to go on it.

3: They go on the mission. They go into a dungeon. They see some elves fight a monster, they fight the monster, the monster runs away, they chase it.

It ain't rocket science.

Its better I guess, but I'm still not satisfied with it on the whole because its too short. Not in the "Portal" kind of way where I wish there was more to the game but evokes a "WTF I don't even..." reaction out of me because of all the editing.

The "Robot Chicken Writers play D&D" is definitely a better way of handling it, thanks for the link people. Though, I'm okay with the 'dirty' lighting and casual setting with which the players are using. An important part of RP is being comfortable (imo) so that you can relax and just enjoy hanging out with friends and dice.

As I've said before, I'll keep listening but really this could be so much more... and how about putting up an unedited version on your blog? It could even just be all audio, I'd listen to that for sure!

and just one more time...

Thats it, I'm making a list.

1. The cameraman sux big time, zooming in on the neck of someone talking and so on. I know it's hard to hold a camera straight, but this guy has some seriously weak libs or something...

2. Bad cutting. BAD cutting. The whole thing is just bits and pieces of conversations. Allmost every start of the cuts have half a word uttered in the middle of a random sentence.

3. What's the deal with the music soming on and off like someone in the back turns the volume up and down and stops and starts the music? Annoying as hell.

4. Pictures of butts won't keep the audience attention. Okay, maybe you showed it to prove a point about the miniatures, but we all got the point way before that.

5. As I see it there is no point in this at all. We can't get the story of the game and we started in the middle of the whole damn thing too. We can't get any of the jokes because we don't know the internal ones and we don't get to hear why stuff is funny because most of it got cut out.

6. Way too short.

Pretty ladies isn't everything. We don't come to this site for that. We want soul.

For this kind of show to work, you need an interesting and witty cast. Once the novelty of them being pornstars/strippers wears off (after two minutes), there isn't really much to like. Nobody really says anything funny. Nothing entertaining happens. Some of the cast is just really annoying (ie, Sasha Grey, sitting around looking bored and self-important). It just isn't really something worth watching.

There are two moderately interesting/entertaining people in this show: the woman with the big glasses and the woman who looks like Trinity from the Matrix (Kimblerly I think?). Unfortunately, they can't carry everybody else.

Bad, boring, pointless and insulting.
And for some reason it will continue and it will continue to lower the respect for the escapist.

"Hey Watch! We have a show with pornstars! PORNSTARS! Maybe there will be boobs!!11!eleven! Oh and they are playing DnD to further strengthen the skewed negative view of tabletop/RPG Outsiders."

Oh man... The only thing the show is good for is to polarize. But does it have to be a main show for that?

P.S.: And what is it with that "...Episode 5 gets better" stuff? Why the hell do someone has to endure 4 dishes of cow manure before the steak arrives? A show has to deliver from the first episodes on not the last.

Where is the incentive to look at the first episodes if it starts getting good somewhere in the middle? Couldn't have episode 5 be the first one with an (1 - ONE - UNO) introduction/exposition episode before?

Oh yeah, I've already listened to all of those, awesome stuff. I even recognized the same DM as soon as he started talking, giving me Penny-Arcade nostalgia instantly. I keep expecting Wil Wheaton to pop up suddenly.

I agree for the most part, but I don't think they have to be necessarily witty. So long as there is banter you can start getting a feel for the players and their characters. Many shows don't have any semblance of plot but depend on getting the viewers to like the characters; which won't happen if you don't give them enough screen time.

Of course, I wouldn't want to ration out what they already have any further. However, if in every progressive episode we see different people getting the camera focus it could work. Assuming of course the aforementioned people aren't the only ones with a modicum of likable personality.

Also, I never got an answer on why these are so short. Are the editors doing it to themselves or is The Escapist imposing length limits?

wow again so much flak... suddenly i don't feel as bad for world war two bomber planes

i find this to be intresting

The idea here is Juxtaposition(i think thats how you spell it). taking pornstars some more intrested in the game then others and filming them playing one of the neirdiest things on the planet.

Sure i laugh only once or twice an episode but i think the emphisis is really more on the spectical.

I mean where is it written that every escapist feature has to be funny. If sombody finds where. tell them game dogs has to pack up
I'm just lurking to see by the comments if this has turned to my taste. Obviously not. I ain't gona *****, different strokes for different folks n all that.

Just had to comment that as a Fight Club fan, I've gotta say, that is an awesome user name.

2 : they where extorted into rescuing someone's (the suspected medusa's ?) sister from the goblins is more like it.

While the general is story is I suppose easy enough to follow there are still a lot of things we have missed out on.

Why did they go on the crime spree in the town that allowed them to be extorted into this mission first place ?

I got the impression they fighting the elves "hanging around underground doing dark stuff" (aka the dark elves) and not a monster. If that is the case why did they attack them ?

My complaint is that with the disjointed editing of this we don´t get any insight in the characters and why they do the things they do.

This is embarrassingly bad. Even compared to the Escapist News Network.

I like it. So to all you non lovers "grow up. Enjoy it or go back to game dogs"
Why should we grow up just because we have a different opinion than you do? Same could be said for your post..

Instead of coming after us, maybe explain to us why you like it, because I think it's safe to say that most of us are missing out on something.

I gave this show a fair 3 episodes. The random butt shots did it for me.. I'm surprised there aren't as many "Told you!" posts from those who called that from the first episode.

There's story in there some where, but I honestly have no clue where.. We're expected to hold up till episode 5 where supposedly it gets better, but honestly I have trouble finishing a single episode..

We're supposed to also read this blog that may help explain this a bit better, but I've said in a previous episode that the problem with this is... a few weeks ago when episode one popped onto the escapist, there was absolutely no warning of it what so ever... If they had shown us the blog a day or 2 before the first episode sprung onto the front page, we'd have some warning... Though, because the episode came first, most of the potential viewers were turned away and thus would have no interest in the blog what so ever.

I don't understand why we should follow a blog or read a snippet from a blog to be able to understand a show in the first place? Isn't that what the first few episodes OF the show is supposed to do?

To me, this just seems like a very long pilot episode montage... Slow it down, let us learn about who we're watching. Let some storyline develop and have it flow. Right now it seems like a couple of dudes behind the editing chair keep going "Oh I liked that bit, put that in there..." or "Oh that was a funny remark, we need that!" I'm guessing you guys are experimenting with a type of style that you want to go for, but i'm sorry, it's not something I think I can get used too.

I see our sessions are quite different.
When I play with my friends we don´t tend to run around randomly chopping down people left, right and center.
It's a roleplaying game, not a first person shooter.

You're playing a role, okay, you're supposed to act like a real character in this world. And yet you saunter around killing intelligent creatures like they're just another widget, a bunch of pixels to blow away, a mechanism for obtaining experience points and treasure.
That isn´t roleplaying. Not as I understand it.
Now if had been established that their characters are bunch of psychos who get their jollies from slicing up people at random and strangle them with their own intestines it would be understandable but I keep hoping there is more depth to them than that.
And the unicorn story in start kindles this hope.

Make an opportunity attack at your heavily damaged opponent, and you roll a 2...

I have had soooooooo many moments like that, and it is always disappointingly hilarious. Well, everyone else in the room gets a laugh anyway...

Honestly i like this show. If it's not your thing just go watch something else and stop all the whining already. But of course nonsensical whining is what the internet is for i guess so it will never stop...

This is weak.
It seems to me to just be a feeble and unnecessary attempt to raise traffic.
It's extremely boring, it's not funny, and the gimmick of the players being 'adult entertainers' wore off about as soon as I read that was what the series was about.
I enjoyed when the Penny Arcade guys played with Wizards of the Coast. That was entertaining. Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to give my epitaph for the time I spent watching this series.

EDIT:

You do realise that pretty much everyone who posted here gave it three strikes, posted maybe one short comment on each thread, and then let loose just a bit on this one, before announcing they were going to leave the show behind, ergo, watch something else when they wanted to see an Escapist video, right?
