So much negativity.....

Wife and I have been watching it and we actually find it entertaining. Then again we've been playing pen and paper rpgs for years, so it's actually kinda fun to watch others playing.

Sasha definately appears to be a first time player of DnD, and is a source of comic relief with her comments, but she is getting into it alright and isn't afraid to make fun of herself (sense of humour, always a good thing when gaming).

So to the makers, keep it up, this is rather fun.

i don´t want to be rude - but is the Gamemaster illiterate? Or is it normal for an american adult to speak in such a uncoordinated manner? ehm.... like a women... there´s like a... like a... you know a... there like you know... theres like a woman... theres like a spiderweb... theres like a spiderweb in her mouth...; and that in every other sentence. As a forgein person to the english language its very hard to follow the fastcut sequences of this series. Its like watching a 1 minute exzerpt of a 5 minute Trailer .... in orcish.

You got that from snip-its? Because what I'm reading you were watching something that was not edited by a monkey with parkinson's disease. Maybe you clicked a different link and went to this one instead ( http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Videos.aspx ). Because everyone else is seeing the video made by the monkey with parkisons. Click that link and watch it then compare it to "I hit it with an axe" and maybe (thats a pretty big maybe), you will be able to grasp why this is trash. But I too will wait in hopes that episode five will be better, but that is looking like a false hope.

Edit: This is for "Zak" and other DMs ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdFClW2WVmI ) Learn from the man with the shinny head!

I'll have to check out the Robot Chicken and PA videos, as far as I can tell this just brings across the idea that watching a Tabletop game you're not in is just plain boring. I imagine it's similar to the issue of switching to a thrash-metal song in mid-play, it's just incoheirent noise until you can find the measure. You miss out on the magic due to lack of immersion.

An idea (though one that would take it away from documentary and towards entertainment) would be illistrated shots of the in-game action interjected similarly to the PG-13 shots of 'dat ass' found in this episode. This would clarify some of the things the editing for compression obfuscates and be more engaging for those of us spoiled by Yahtzee into requiring humourous visual aids every fifteen seconds.

I gotta agree with the comments here and also say one more thing; the DM seems to be a bit of a prima donna himself.

Why? Well, because, I thought I'd go over to his blog and give him some constructive comments about how he could improve the video. I mentioned the editing, I mentioned the lack of a coherent storyline and the need for continuity, the need for the viewer to actually know what's going on at any moment in time, and I mentioned the need to get rid of the creepy guys sitting in the background doing nothing. It was VERY polite, very thoughtful and genuinely trying to be helpful to him, based on the feedback that he's getting here.

You know what he did? He deleted it. No answer, no consideration, no acknowledgment... just straight up deleted.

So yeah, it seems the guy isn't just incapable of making a video worth a damn, he's not capable of taking any criticism or advice about it either. I just can't work up the effort to muster up any respect for someone like that. Call me crazy, I guess.

I like it. So to all you non lovers "grow up. Enjoy it or go back to game dogs"
Why should we grow up just because we have a different opinion than you do? Same could be said for your post..

Instead of coming after us, maybe explain to us why you like it, because I think it's safe to say that most of us are missing out on something.

I gave this show a fair 3 episodes. The random butt shots did it for me.. I'm surprised there aren't as many "Told you!" posts from those who called that from the first episode.

There's story in there some where, but I honestly have no clue where.. We're expected to hold up till episode 5 where supposedly it gets better, but honestly I have trouble finishing a single episode..

We're supposed to also read this blog that may help explain this a bit better, but I've said in a previous episode that the problem with this is... a few weeks ago when episode one popped onto the escapist, there was absolutely no warning of it what so ever... If they had shown us the blog a day or 2 before the first episode sprung onto the front page, we'd have some warning... Though, because the episode came first, most of the potential viewers were turned away and thus would have no interest in the blog what so ever.

I don't understand why we should follow a blog or read a snippet from a blog to be able to understand a show in the first place? Isn't that what the first few episodes OF the show is supposed to do?

To me, this just seems like a very long pilot episode montage... Slow it down, let us learn about who we're watching. Let some storyline develop and have it flow. Right now it seems like a couple of dudes behind the editing chair keep going "Oh I liked that bit, put that in there..." or "Oh that was a funny remark, we need that!" I'm guessing you guys are experimenting with a type of style that you want to go for, but i'm sorry, it's not something I think I can get used too.
Maybe you don't like it (why most don't) is because they're all taking an offence because dungeons and dragons is a "serious" game.

wow again so much flak... suddenly i don't feel as bad for world war two bomber planes

i find this to be intresting

The idea here is Juxtaposition(i think thats how you spell it). taking pornstars some more intrested in the game then others and filming them playing one of the neirdiest things on the planet.

Sure i laugh only once or twice an episode but i think the emphisis is really more on the spectical.

I mean where is it written that every escapist feature has to be funny. If sombody finds where. tell them game dogs has to pack up
I'm just lurking to see by the comments if this has turned to my taste. Obviously not. I ain't gona *****, different strokes for different folks n all that.

Just had to comment that as a Fight Club fan, I've gotta say, that is an awesome user name.
Thx dude. that movie was a life saver this past summer. And i try each day to explain that there is an extreamly complex messege and tones going on... Still most people see it as fratboy violence.... oh well. I could go on and on about How much i love chuck palahniuk and how i've read all his books but... this is not the place

I donno if you were joking but I got a laugh out of this anyway xD. Thanks!

Although if you were serious.. Even then.. There is comedy to be had with tabletop styled games like D&D... Plus, even if they were doing a serious show here.. I'd still find it unwatchable in it's current state. Drawn by Pain is a serious show on here and from the few episodes I've got to see of it so far... It's pretty good! My complaints aren't "Make me laugh clown!" Like a few others have stated.

Alot feels it needs improvement. Dislike watching people eat whilst talking. I can only relate to the bored guy in the background. However as I've said before good concept, improve and take on board the complaints and this show can rock.

wooo! Reaper minis! I'm going to edit this post to give a little more explaination. I like the concept, I just... I don't know it needs to feel a little more, commercial, right now it doesn't seem to be Escapist grade material. The Escapist (imo) has been fairly consistent with quality of it's content, this seems rushed and a bit well half assed (no pun intented). I have high hopes for it (I mean hell it's strippers and D&D that in and of itself should be awesome!) but right now I think if it was a bit more structured. not necessarily scripted... (although I would suggest to the GM to write down some talking points so he can stay in character. GMing for Dummies is a pretty handy little piece of literature. you don't even have to purchase it just swing by B&N and skim over it one day.) maybe in a better location, better camera work. I think this could be something a lot cooler.

Okay, based on your comments, and the fact that you joined this site just to post them, I am absolutely positive that you are either involved in the production of this series, or have a relationship with someone who is. It seems an awful lot like you're just trolling everyone who has anything bad to say about your favowitest video in da ho wide wowld.

But in case I'm wrong: There's a difference between content and presentation. Fast riffs and satanic references are part of the content of Slayer's music. If you criticized that aspect of their music, they would be right to ignore you, because to change that would change the very nature of their music. If you got Slayer's first demo, on the other hand, and the music was shoddily edited so that the tracks didn't sync, juxtaposed phrases were in different keys, and lyrics were cut off mid-word, you could suggest they change that in the future.
It's their demo.
They're not established artists in this medium, so constructive criticism should be accepted, whether they choose to implement it or not.

This is like that. Understand the difference?

Okay, here's my 2 cents. Or possibly around 1/4 of a cent or so.

I'm gonna declare right off the bat that, for me, Sasha Grey is both the hot one and the entertaining one. That probably doesn't say good things about the show, given that she's the guest star.

Her D&D-naivete is kind of cute and funny, as opposed to the others, who seem to have played before but end up with statements like, "Do you have a flashlight?" or "I'm charismatic-ing them." Their DM also annoys me, but I'm not going to harp on that too much, as I can't really say why he does.

Fair enough; I like the concept of the show, but it seems to be done very poorly. It just doesn't seem like something good enough to have a 5-minute(-ish) ongoing series. And of course, not everything HAS to be funny (though I certainly like it when it is), but this show seems to be intended that way, and if it loses that quality, I don't really understand the point of making it a running series. Some people seem to like certain qualities of it, though, so maybe I'm still missing something.

No, thankfully, not all Americans speak like that. Unfortunately, there are some that do. And to me (and to most people that I know), it's somewhere between funny and frustrating to hear that kind of person speak. But aren't there people like that in most, if not all, languages around the world? Although, to the players' credit, I don't think their English is necessarily terrible; there are just typically many people trying to talk at once, and the clips are frantically cut apart.

You make sense. I like you.

Anyway, I'm going to keep watching the series for now, because I like having things to use up my time on a regular basis, but I may have to stop in the near future. Honestly, if my gaming group played like this, I'd either kill myself or quit. Probably the latter.
