I just can't fall asleep...

Of lately, I've been having problems falling asleep at night. It's as if something just keeps me from falling alseep before 5 in the bloody morning (which is pretty annoying when you have to be up by 8.30) - I can be dead tired, but the second my head hits the pillow, I'm wide awake.

So I was wondering; What do you do when you have problems falling asleep?

Try and keep active, eventually you'll tire out.

Keep surfing them interwebs.

Truth be told

I lay in my bed trying to fall asleep, then I use the bathroom

If I have to go, I cannae sleep. My body will even wake me up if I have to use the Bathroom.
Otherwise, I just lay in the bed waiting for-freakin-ever to fall asleep.

I suffer from the same thing, except I tend to fall asleep around one to two o' clock in the morning. It's worse when I'm stressed.

I've learned to live with being eternally exhausted.

I usually fall asleep very easily, but when I do not, I just think about stuff until I fall asleep. Sorry if thats not very much help to you...

Try getting some more exercise, consume less caffine, try wakeing up earlier, if that keeps up, consider visiting a sleep doctore, perhaps there's some underlying problem?

Well, if you're of legal age, I'd say have one drink. A single beer/glass of wine/shot will probably help tire you out (some sort of chemical reaction...I dunno what it actually is), and as long as you stay at just one, there won't be ill effects.

Underage? Well...warm beverages, soothing music. Been a while since I had to do those. Biggest plan was to avoid anything with a high mental stimulus level (i.e. computer, Tv, Books) and just get comfortable. The rest should come naturally.

I visit a support group for testicular cancer. Cookie for the reference.

Following that I sleep like a baby.

Break out my socio-linguistics book.

In all seriousness, there's not much I do that actually works. Anything I try to do just provides more mental stimulation and keeps me up. Although I've found that a source of white noise, like a fan, tends to droen out any distracting nighttime sounds and helps to lull me to sleep.

I'd be too afraid of men with boobs and a woman for some reason.
OT: I always drink a cup of tea before bed and I sleep twice as good than if I didn?t have any.

Have a look on youtube for relaxation vids, there are hundreds in all kinds of accents, some even whisper. Might help you unwind.

Weed works pretty well, for me at least...

Failing that, exercise, read a book, wank, ring a friend if they're up this late too.

Or drink (preferably beer or whiskey :D) or take sleeping pills. Not at once though. Unless you like being ill/ dead as well as being an insomniac.

Put a film on and be determined to watch the entire thing. That makes me fall asleep within 15 mins everytime.

Although on another note I have an essay due in in 12 hours so I'll gladly swap your insomnia at the moment.
