Hello Escapist,

As the title implies, I just completed Fable 3, I don't know how to feel overall, as it didn't fill me with joy yet it didn't leave me disappointed, just dead in the middle of 'that was alright' now i loved Fable 1 and 2, but this one didn't really feel like those two in the sense of charm,I didn't feel the need to do sidequests as I did in the second and wasn't compelled to complete the game as soon as possible, bummer.

what did the escapist think of Fable 3?

Thought the story and characters were much improved. Though with every fable game, it feels like it was rushed. There were some really good idea in there that I feel should had have more time spent on them. The main story was wayyy to short and the side quest were almost cookie cutter. Peter needs to either make the main story bigger and more epic and gives a real feel for a journey or give us more freedom and a huge variety of side quest. If he was really smart he would give us both.

The first half of the game was a lot of fun, but once you became king/queen, it kind of went downhill. I didn't exactly enjoy having to farm several million gold, and most of the quests were already done.

Kinda agree with L3m0n. Though mine's more on the polarization of good/evil. First half, they put major major emphasis on being good (From my understanding) to get things done. While after the king/queendom part, evil is emphasized.

Still working through it. I like it (played it 8 hours straight), but I don't like how fast it's being taken. I feel like the Quest Bar is like DO THIS, DO THAT, YOU CAN'T MAKE FRIENDS.

But it's humorous and I feel it will have replay value, which is nice. We'll see how I feel when I complete it.

Yeah I completed it a day or two ago, the thing that annoyed me was the money gaining thing for the treasury, It said I had like 121 or so days to go, so I had to go and decide on something (One of the many promises), I was planning on donating around 6 Million into the treasury but then bang, 121 days goes pop straight after this decision and I can no longer donate any of my money.. I have 100,000 out of the 6,600,000 Im supposed to collect in the treasury. Now all of a sudden shit has gone down in Albion and I cant do jack shit about it, and the whole freakin place is deserted of any form of life after the shit that went down has all cleared up. I decided to start a new game.

I've read in many places that the game is worse than Fable 2. [lik=http://unrealitymag.com/index.php/2010/10/29/why-fable-3-is-an-embarrassment-to-video-games/]Here[/link] is a lengthy (but funny) take on a guys experience playing the game. He outlines everything that is making me not want this game.

I also felt that middle of the road, I don't know how to feel thing about it.
I thought the main story was short, but according to my friend, the game opens up a lot more when you do sidequests, because some sidequests unlock others which unlock more, etc...

I liked the shades of grey choices when you were King/Queen, that was nice. Well, I guess the choices weren't grey, but the whole outcome was.

Yeah, I still can't decide if I loved it or simply liked it. I felt the ending came way too abruptly, which kind of disappointed me.

I just became Queen, and have started the promise-keeping...er...cutscenes.

All in all, Fable 3 has so far been a huge disappointment. I'm still enjoying it, but I guess I just didn't realize how great Fable 2 was until they took away a bunch of the things I liked about it, and left the stuff I didn't (primarily the dog).

I am still doing the revolution but I wanted to ask a question, does your choice in the beginning of the game when you decide wither or not to kill your girlfriend effect the game, I just finished the sidequest with her and we are no married but what happens if I chose to murder her? also am I the only one who loved the quest where you are in a game of D&D that would have been the coolest quest chain ever.

You could still donate money. When it tells you to enter the portal you could still use the book to donate money in. I do know what you mean though, same thing happened to me. I looked at how many days was left and I thought, 152, plenty of days to go. I give the statue back to the woman thinking, I'm sure my real estate will have built up the cash by then. To find out that it's now the big day. I had to leave my console on for nearly an hour to build up my money. (I chose all the good options so the money I'd built up before was used on those)

Apparently you can actually leave the meeting and it'll ask you if you want to go back in time. Although I didn't know this at the time so I haven't tried it personally.

Eitherway, I did really enjoy Fable 3, far more than I enjoyed 2. Two I just felt nothing for, however I actually feel compelled to play Fable 3 more. Still don't think it's as good as the original was in terms of story though. They built up Jack of blades so well in the original.

ENDING SPOILERS:
I loved the ending, it was quite emotional and i'l admit I got a bit teary eyed. I loved Walter, he was a brilliant character.

The story was very much improved, although they should of improved environments and created more variety in weapons and clothes. I also wish they would explain some things though and I want to find more about Theresa!

The quests didn't feel as fulfilling or as frequent in Fable 3 either. For example, the Chesty quest in Fable 3 is nothing compared to the one in Fable 2.

Dear @Mr. Self Destruct

I felt the same, especially when I became King,
I've always prefered being the lower class type in games, becuase then you have something to fight for, once you're the top, you're the top!
Doing the King's/Queen's Schedule day after day felt rather repetitive.

But, to other players wanting to know what choice's the make as the ruler of Albion I give you this advice, If you want to be nice, be nice! Debt won't make a difference to you, unless you want to go around buying everything, everywhere.
But once you have defeated the shadows the game will become rather boring as everyone apart form guards will be dead, you'll find yourself wondering around Bowerstone, Brightwall and the Dweller's camp with only you in sight.

So, I recommend being "evil" but for the peoples sake, be bad, to be good.
having money can pay for soilders, guards and worriors which will help you defeat the shadows, leaving more civilians alive after.

You might not like having people shout abuse at you, and you might not like having demonic wings but, at least you'll have someone to speak to now and again.

Signed,

Kane Heartly

I decided to keep all my promises and everything so I had -1500000 or something. Lucky for me, I bought out all the real estate and set the rent and prices to high, so I got about 180000 every five minutes. Then I just went and did all the sidequests I could until I had enough money.

But regarding the game, the main story all felt rushed. Once you finish Aurora, it takes about twenty minutes total to get through "Thanks, we'll help you fight" to a thirty second planning scene to fifteen minutes of combat, to "Oh, let's kick down the door to the throne room inside the castle we were a couple miles away from two seconds ago", to Logan being all "But don't want want to know why I-" To Walter telling him to shut up, then straight to you being crowned. And I didn't skip a single major scene.

It doesnt really matter how you play, good or evil, the fact is if you want to save everyone you need to buy up pretty much everything and let it collect for you and just leave your guy standing there.
