Great movie by the way, but I swear some people in my theater needed to get smacked. They all acted like they never read the book! On certain parts that were in the book that everyone should know about they acted like they weren't expecting it. I was like why are you clapping and cheering? You should know that this happens!!!!

Here's a thought. They were glad to have seen whatever happened on screen. Is that hard to imagine?

It's like saying "I'm not going to a musical concert because they play the same songs." Why watch the movie when you've already read the book?

You go for the experience. Just because you know what happens doesn't mean it doesn't spark some emotion within you.

Ugh I hate it when people Shout, Clap, Cheer, Yodel infact make any noise beyond laughing at a funny part when watching films.

I think it ruins the expereance.

Maybe they didn't want to waste 700 pages of their time reading a children's book and felt watching the movie was adequate?

It sparked emotion, but I wasn't gonna be all "YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!" every time something happened. I cheered at the beginning, and the end. And this girl next to me kept asking questions about the movie to her boyfriend. I was thinking "Why are you even here??"

They should be assaulted for not reading a book?

I suppose the illiterate or blind are free of this rule?
Of course not do not be ridiculous.
The blind have brail don't they. Smack those fuckers down with the rest of them.

A lot of people never read the books, dude. Alternatively, maybe they were just really excited seeing the books brought to life.
I agree it is pretty annoying when the theater won't shut up, but you can't really fault them for it.

Because they could? It is far worse when they talk the whole way through the movie and you miss the most important things... Especially during Inception!

I concur, Harry Potter is not a childrens book. It's a book for everybody. Children, adults, and elderly people. I grew up reading those books. And I'm pretty sure a childrens book doesn't have people dying left and right like in the last HP book.

They were loud alright, every time they cheered they overpowered the dialogue which I hated.

I don't like people clapping and cheering throughout a movie I am watching at the cinema. I have just paid an arm and a leg to watch this film and I don't want to hear people talk. If I am seeing a comedy and people are laughing, thats great, but people talking and cheering during the film just irks me. After the film has ended, that is fine, but not halfway through.

I had a similar experience. In front of me and my boyfriend were these three ditzy girls who screamed at things that weren't scary and next to us was a group who kept asking one of the guys questions about everything that was happening.

I think that if you're going to see a movie that's in a series you should have some sort of background knowledge whether that be you've read the books or seen the prequels. I don't see how you could enjoy it if you have no idea what's going on.

Lots of people don't read the books, they rely on the movies entirely to tell the story. I know a lot of people who never read them. This could be the first time they are seeing this story.

Of course, this has probably disadvantaged them somewhat as some of the films are pretty much unintelligible without having read the book first (Harry Potter 3 I'm looking at you.)

Your logic is flawed: you grew up reading a book, so it must be for everyone?

Children's books don't have people dying in it? Are you aware that there have been PICTURE BOOKS about NUCLEAR HOLOCAUSTs? (http://www.amazon.com/Nobody-Wants-Nuclear-War-Pictures/dp/0807557390)
In addition: the Alex Rider books have quite a lot of death in it, and they underlie quite a few Roald Dahl stories. What about "A Series of Unfortunate Events", where people really are dropping like flies?

Yeah same here. Especially the people that yell out comments and stuff.
I'm actually guilty of doing that once, but only 'cause the cinema was empty (and I mean empty, it was just us and some teenagers at the back :l).

OT: Anyways, I haven't seen the last 2 Harry Potter films, and I don't plan to unless other people want to go. I'm not as big a fan of the movies as I am of the books.

Why not let D-mite tell you that reading is important?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlKL_EpnSp8

But in all seriousness, I will definitely be going to see this too..if the movie theater in our town will remain afloat financially until it comes out here.
