I traded my old one in for this. I was out of space on my old 20 gig harddrive, and the old one was making those "the fan has just inhaled a gigantic dustbunny" sounds, so before I got the old RROD I traded it in.

It seems okay. If I didn't have a machine on the brink, I wouldn't have gone out of my way to get one. I really hope it lasts a while. The larger hard drive is nice, but I don't use the wireless to get online, so that is not very useful to me.

The binging and case, it's strange but it sure seems like they are trying awfully hard to mimic the PS3 for some reason. I find it funny that the 360 switched to a shiny black case with chrome, just as the PS3 switched to a matte black case sans chrome.

Really, functionally it is pretty much the same as my old one. I don't have a problem with that. I just got it to play my 360 games, that's what it does, so I'm happy.
I have a 20 Gig model now and was thinking about getting the new model. How was transfering content? Is it easy to do with things like saves/dlc/arcade games etc?
I have a memory card, which the new one doesn't take. But, I was able to use a USB flash drive to move everything, no problem. I didn't use the transfer cord, but you can go that route as well. The USB I had, the transfer cord I did not.

I have DLC, XBL games and saves. You can use up to a 32gig flash drive, but if you're like me, a 16 gig fits everything from the old 360 on it.
Looks like I have more reasons to upgrade then. The 20 gig hdd really is too small >.<

Yeah, that was my main reason, aside from the fan noises. The Fallout 3 DLC and the Oblivion DLC pretty much wiped out my old HDD.

You know, when I bought it, it didn't seem that bad. But now that I have the new one, it seems pretty puny in comparison.

I've been hearing people give it a lot of shit because 'you can't move it whilst theres a disc spinning in it' like it's a fucking travesty, but who the hell picks up their PS2 and launches themselves down a hallway while it's still plugged in anyway? It's one of those arguments that seems like logical rage-bait on the surface, but turns out to be just a bit retarded.

Note, I'm not exactly an xbox fan. au contrare, I own a PS3 in actuality, I'm just unbiased. mostly XD

I don't intend to get one. The only problem I have with my Elite is the discs scrathing if you move the console, and I've heard the new one's even worse for that.

But a bunch of my friends are getting it, and they've liked the Xbox for a lot longer than me. So, how bad can it be, I guess?

I generally hate xbox's. playstation will always own xobox. It's like comparing mac to pc.
Not many people like the mac, but it is obviously superior. lol :)

oh lawl

Anywho, I'm entirely behind the times. I have a first generation 360, which is kinda confounding because it decided to consistently stop reading disks about a year and a half ago... A shame I discovered the magical wonders of steam about then.

that is exactly why i hate xbox.

It happened in a video with someone just naturally picking it up rather than deliberately doing it, so it is something that occasionally happens.

When I first got my 360 I put Gears of War in it and turned my tv to Video 3 (whatever) and the screen was green and blue. The Xbox was placed closed to the front of the tv stand so as I moved it foward to check the cables....

Me:Whats that noise? *Open my disc tray and turn the cd over

FFFFFUUUUUUUUUU-

And now like you I'm a proud ps3 gamer :)

Ha, lol. T exact same thing happened to me, but with fable 2.
Still, I'm still a proud "xboxer" (or should that be "xboxeer"). I love the old thing.

I'm still on the fence about getting one. I'm not sure how long the 360 will be around. Apparently it all hinges upon the success of Kinect. If the 360 truely does have another 5 years left, then I'll pony up for the new Delta model (my name for it, better than Slim). Until then, I'll be waiting for my old 360 to break.

Do you juggle your running systems all the time or something? I don't understand how it's a problem. I could see it being a problem on say the PS2 where you had an attached controller and might jostle the system on accident, but on the 360? Why in the world would you be moving the system around while it is on?

I have the new 360, and it's pretty good. What they say about the disc gettig destroyed if the console is moved at all is false. My little brother knocked it out of its spot while we were playing a game, and we were still able to play it, no problem. I suggest it if you need a 360, but keep the old one if you aren't getting a new one.

Wow dude, I'm not even gonna make a snarky comment, that sucks.

Wether you're a PS3 or Xbox gamer, you've shelled out decent cash for these things, so it sucks when they just crap out :/

I picked up the new XBox 360 (Slim, if you want to call it that) pretty much on the night of its release, trading in my old XBox 360 Pro and ponying up $120 AUD.

I'm happy with the purchase. I use wireless N at home to get on the network; doesn't make any difference for online gaming since my ADSL speeds don't come near the limit of wireless G anyway, but makes it a much more functional home media device.

Its a metric shitload quieter when discs are spinning, compared to my Pro, which is fantastic as it was a pain in the arse to install every single game to HDD just to avoid the loud BRRRRRRR when I was playing.

And, its shiny and black, matching my TV.

I'm not sure about ruining discs if moved while in use, I've never tried.
