I was 15minutes late to the screening I saw (the cinema had the wrong times on the internet site). I didn't realise how late I was. Needless to say I was quite confused by the ending. I've seen it again and I don't mind it.

I personally liked it. Change a pace from all the other movies out at the time,(even now really) so that in of itself was pretty refreshing. Also enjoyed how she used the situations in her life to escape reality. Gotta admit, first time i saw it through to the ending, I left mad. Thinking about it more though, I realize now it couldn't have ended better.

Not really sure why people hate the movie to be honest. Heard people don't like the acting, but seemed fine to me. Loved how the action scenes were everything guys have come to love (or at least me anyway.)

It feels like people actually tried to develop a movie to tell a story with Suckerpunch. It has the standard movie issue of hot girls and explosions, but for the most part I feel like they are warrented, instead of just there to draw in the money.

no one thinks the movie is good except Moviebob and those who follow his commands, and a depraved french bisexual porn reviewer on another site.

I ENJOYED the movie, but it certainly isnt anything that can be described as good, and bob's balther about it having hidden depths of symbolism and meaning, is just that

Kinda like when I walked into Starship Troopers late, awesome movie but why were they fighting the bugs?

Yes, I figured it out later and the movie got 20% cooler.
Except in Starship troopers it's pretty straight forward. I started watching Sucker Punch when they were on the Brothel part, so when it snapped back to the Assylum I was like wtf?

I didn't like it. Sure a few of them were easy on the eyes. Still a weak flick. Coming from a guy who likes women.

...no one likes Sucker Punch. It's shit. The soundtrack is the best part of it.
Sweet Dreams. Marilyn Manson did it better though...
Ehhk... Really? I have four versions of that song on my iPod and two of them are up there with my favorites but I really didn't like Manson's version very much.

I loved it. Maybe because I seem to be one of the few people who actually understood the plot. It was a good combination of action and an interesting story. Pretentious? I never felt like the film tried to be anything other than it was. It wasn't prefect, but what film is?

It wasn't bad (It's one of my favorites), it just is not what it appears. It's very deep, but it's all deep. If you don't want to go down and get the story, you will just see it as a sequence of music videos.
Really. Its not that deep. Its 5 centimeters at most.

Sucker Punch was a boyish fantasy movie, that means it's supposed to look cool instead of making sense or telling a message.

It was visually impressive, but yet again, so do the Star Wars prequels.

I wouldn't say "everyone thought it was great" by a long shot. It seems to heavily divide opinion on The Escapist, and it pretty much made a smoking crater at the box office. [link]http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=suckerpunch.htm[/link]

I think it was a significantly flawed movie, but not without its virtues. It's the sort of thing where I hope the movie's flaws and financial failure don't keep other movie-makers from recognizing and capitalizing on its strengths in making other features. And as Movie Bob more or less said, whatever else may be wrong with it, it's nice to see a movie where the director actually has some idea how to compose a shot and cut a scene- I'm so sick of pseudo-reality camera work and flea-on-crack editing.

If you'd like to read my original "just-out-of-the-theater" opinion on Sucker Punch, or look at the original discussion after MB's review, you can find it here:

I have to admit I didn't mind it all that much.

It wasn't great but it wasn't the worst movie i've seen (Open Water, Flightplan and The Village .... i'm looking at you).

It just tried far too hard to get the story across. In all fairness the actual story was a well thought out concept but the end product didn't quite work out for me.

But, as I said, I didn't find it terrible. It is worth watching once.

The only person I've heard say a single positive word about it is MovieBob. Now admittedly, I really like him as a film critic for the most part, so that recommendation is enough to make me interested in checking it out despite all the other negativity, but the point is that I have heard very few positive words about it. So not sure where you're getting the idea that everyone loves Sucker Punch, that's all.

My main problem with Sucker Punch is:
There's a difference between making a movie about girls in their underwear fighting robot-nazis, and a movie about girls in their underwear fighting robot-nazis that wants to be taken seriously.
The fact that the director pulled the "It was all a psychopath's thought process" twist about as poorly as you could possibly do so was just icing on the cake. It's been done before, and it's been done much, much better. One part I really liked is when a character said "fuck" and they blanked it out. Sure, we can have as many scantily-clad women backflipping through the air in slow motion so you can see their underpants, but swearing!? OHHH NOOOOO!!!!!
Don't watch Sucker Punch. Instead, do something I found to be much more amusing: find "The Forbidden Kingdom", fastforward about halfway through, and watch it from there. Some friends and I did this, and it was truly an experience to behold.

Really? I haven't even watched the movie and I can answer that for you, they like it because "like" and "dislike" are personal opinions. You use terms like "okay" and "bad" when they too reflect on your own personal schema on the level of quality a certain aspect of the movie should be, its all subjective and meaningless to discuss.

Posting threads like this is really pointless, I could say Doctor Who is horrid quality and repetitive, I wouldn't be wrong because they loose blanket statements and based on my own opinion, but all it would do it start a flame war between fans and non-fans.

But yeah... back on topic, people like it because they are entertained by the movie.

I liked it well enough. Granted, it didn't blow me away, but I didn't think it was bad. Sure, it has its flaws. All movies do (aside from Scorsese flicks).

I think Zack Snyder is a fine director, and I am hopeful for his Superman film. I'd much rather see a Zack Snyder picture over a Michael Bay or Dennis Dugan picture any day.
