So I like bagpipe music a good amount, i dont listen to it everyday but i enjoy listening to it every couple of days. The thing is, everyone i know thinks bagpipe music is horrable for no reason.

It may be just from the fact that im 25% Irish and 25% Scottish, but I can never find anyone who likes the genra.

Pretty much what im asking is, are there any Escapists out there that like the genra, or tend to listen to it a fair amount. Because im getting really lonely in my little world.

I'm reasonably ambivalent towards it, myself. I don't love it, but nor do I really understand why so many seem to dislike it.

Oh, it's a horrible and crude instrument. Blasts loudly, noone can ever seem to play it correctly and will damage your hearing if you accompany/play it.

Don't like bagpipes on their own, whack them with the Real Mckenzies for some punk rock/bagpipes action and I'll pay attention.

It's odd, I have some playing right now. I find it soothing, and the flowing nature of the music is good for when you need to focus or concentrate. As such, more then one Alliance dog has been slit up by the crazy troll highlander dervish. If only they made Kilts for rogues...

So, yeah, don't feel lonely. It's just that the world cannae handle the awesome of two Bagpipe lovers in close proximity, so we are doomed to solitude.

I like them, they have a depressing sound to them. But if someone is playing one right next to me I will have the urge to muder them.

Bagpipe music is fine, but being in Edinburgh almost every day makes you a little sick of it after a while.

I love Bagpipe music.
So does my wife.

It's so haunting...and yet so beautiful.

I remember camping one summer with 4 or 5 of my buddies. Well, one morning we wake up and some of use are getting breakfast ready, others are playing some early morning chess (Great game for camping), and suddenly...across the still, fog covered waters...comes the haunting tune of bag pipes. One of tenants of a near-by cottage on the lake happened to play, and decided to walk to the end of his dock, and play to the morning. We all stopped what we were doing and just listened in peace for the full 3 to 4 minutes. Just incredible.

As the end of the song, we burst into applause and cheers, and could hear other campsites doing the same.
I'll never forget it.

I would show you some good bagpipe music, but I have the feeling that you wont care so really wont even try.

I guess it has something to do with the fact it was used as a form of psychological warfare in victorian times. Some of them are very nice songs, but unfortunately my mind is still a little scarred from a man coming in to my primary school playing the bagpipes not too well.

It was rather frightening then.

What, you gonna show me Highland Cathedral? Green Hills? Sorry, but I've heard WAY more bagpipe music than you have, being a snare drummer in a scottish marching band for too many years, and bagpipes are stressful and crude. And they fucked my hearing a little too.

I actually like bagpipe music a lot, I just rarely listen to it, it doesn't suit my house... Kinda?
But if I'm out and about, or at a wedding where someone is part Scottish, I'll sit and listen for a while. =]

I like the bagpipes too.....

Is it because I'm Scottish?

bagpipes are great.
i don't think any other single instrument has quite the awesome level of the bagpipe.
