Lies and slander, boss.

OT: I've been guilty of doing it once or twice, but it's always annoying to get killed by someone else who does it.

Camping is pretty obnoxious.

You can shout 'legitimate strategy' all you want, everyone still hates you.

That's pretty obnoxious in itself.

As long as your definition of camping doesn't include Snipers, I'm not a fan of camping, but I don't really care, there are ways to kill them if you are clever

Real camping is awesome.

Videogame camping, not so much. It's a coward's strategy, in my opinion. More importantly though, it just isn't any FUN. I mean sure, your kill/death ratio will probably be great, but how much fun are you gonna have cooped up in a single room for the whole damn game, staring at a door?

I only camp when I HAVE to, like when I'm getting spawn killed every 10 seconds and my team is down 80 trillion points. Yes, this has happened.

Hate it. I liked it in BFBC2 though, when people camped on that big mountain. Then ou call in a mortor strike. Or blow up a house with a tank.
Yeah, people like to camp on top of places with a lot of overview. They just don't seem to realize that everyone else can see them as well..

I played only hardcore in BC2; I couldn't stand the fact that you needed 6 shots to kill someone. Hardcore brings that down to half of it, or so .. A damn shame that all the sniper rifles (except the semi-autos) became one-shot killers .. and half the team picks recon.

alright your gonna have to elaborate on that.

the only online fps i play is team fortress two, and theirs only two classes that encourage camping, sniper and spy. a spy with cloak and dagger standing around doing nothing is not helpful to the team, and also its really boring. thats why i only use cloak and dagger with your eternal reward.

sniper encourages legitimate camping, but TF2's map design ensures that the only place he'll be able to get a good shot is in a very obvious place where people can see him. combined with freezecam, you need to move around quite a bit if you want to stay alive.

camping outdoors? ya, its fun but i wouldn't really want to go for more than a day or two. unless the outdoors had wifi.

Being out with nature, cooking marshmellows, tents etc, its all good fun :D

What I hate with a passion is boring opponents that stay in one room, of course, if you know how to play the game tactically you can still take them out, but I just find it boring.

So are you a happy camper and / or an FPS camper :) Or do you detest both?

And how do you eliminate those pesky campers :D
I don't particularly mind camping. I love nature, and I'm not a picky sleeper, so the average camp out it perfectly fine for me, so long as it doesn't go on past 2 days.

As for FPS campers, I loath them with a passion. My standard tactic for them usually switching to a class with a grenade launcher, then clearing them out of their hidey-holes with explosivey goodness. Not only does it deny them their camping spot, but if they somehow do keep on going back, you can grief them until they either rage quit (removing the offending problem) or learn how to use cover properly (thereby giving you a more enjoyable opponent), so it's a win-win situation.

I'm rather indifferent about camping. It can be annoying, but you know the general area of where they will be, so that only helps them short-term.

What annoys me more is when you're defending a point and people claim your defending, despite the fact you're actively moving within the area.

This is also why I'm looking forward to Battlefield 3. Blowing the hell out of cover is a pretty viable option.

Got to say that I don't mind people that camp. Always funny lobbing a grenade next to their feet and watching them fly half way across the map. Little more sneaky on a map if sniper rifles are involved. Very good strategy for dealing with campers. Always tag team them and sneak up to where they are hiding. Nothing more funny than spraying bullets on someone who thinks they are hidden in the shadows. The great thing about campers is that they don't learn from their mistakes most of the time. You will see the same person hide in the same 4 spots over and over again. Love camping in a spot that somebody else has been using so I can suprise them when they come up to use it. As for real camping, not much of a fan, I don't need to pretend to be homeless.

I laugh every time at the camping hate (FPS).
People should rage at camping only in one case: When there are easy camp spots that are clearly imba and won't allow you to reach the sniper, and in this case you should blame the developers and not the campers.
You seriously think a sniper should stand in the middle of the map, looking for a target without a cover? Stop qqing that you got head shot for running in a middle of a war zone.

No, No, No. It's not camping, It's MONITERING.

I can't camp in real life. I'm a 4 course meal to mosquitos.

Fair enough. During that night while with 4 other people drinking and some of them doing weed, she, who was stoned and wasted, kept hitting on me, while unintentionally insulting me saying things like "Have you ever had a girlfriend before?" "So you've never kissed someone before?". I kept declining her advances, then about 3-4 in the morning, we went to our two tents. A boy's and a girl's tent. I went to sleep. My sleeping buddy moved to the girl's tent and passed out. Then the girl that hit on me that night crawled in while I was sleeping... I woke up that morning, with my sleeping buddy, replaced by this girl.

I picked up my stuff. Left and phoned my parents to pick me up.

I'm a very old fashion camper.

We don't take any food, dangerous but more fun that way. We each take a ton of twine or paracord, as many knifes as we feel will be needed, eating/ skinning/ making traps. Then magnesium starters, water, a portable water filtration pump. We added recently that you could take a cast iron skillet since it made cooking easier, but those things are heavy. Then we drive up a trail that is about 60 miles from now-where in the middle of an Oregon forest, then hike about 6-10 miles to where a map shows water should be, and just try to survive for a week.

My buddy nearly died on his first trip, we ended up having to help him because he couldn't catch any fish and all his traps where always empty.

Much fun.

As for campers, I hate em' mainly because I don't like playing as them, it gets boring fast just sitting on top of a spawn point waiting to snipe people in the head.

See, there's a difference between camping and a sniper position. Camping is for n00bs who don't want to get in on the action so they just hide in the corner waiting for someone to walk by. They're obnoxious. A sniper position is, however, very useful in terms of defense and strategy. And besides, people can usually see you if you're sniping. If you're camping, you're just sitting there stoned in a corner.
