So I started playing dwarf fortress again. Its famous for being complicated and that. But after you get over the newbie mistakes it becomes super easy to create a super bunker that nothing can penetrate and can produce infinite food and is perfect in every way. So this play through ive decided to add a new rule: My dwarfs are humans. They CANNOT dig unless it is a basement at 1 level down or a stone/metal mine structured as such at a max of 4 levels down. All buildings must be above ground and dwarves must live above ground in buildings with a roof. Its insanely hard now. All buildings take 10000 years to build and every dwarf is constantly unhappy from not having enough housing and building a nobles 2 story palace requires crazy complex planning and scaffholding. Im also having serious trouble fitting everything into a single layer. Suddenly the game is awesome and interesting and im struggling.
TLDR: What games have you played recently where you invented your own game changing rules to make the game waaaay more fun.
