I heard recently that the price for live will be getting higher so if figured I should buy it now while it's not as pricey (even though it should be free but whatever microsoft... you dicks) so do you guys have any suggestions of what I should get. I'm looking into getting a wireless adapter. I already have a wireless router and I'm shit with this stuff so I'm not sure whether I need an adapter or not. I heard wired has a better connection but my xbox is upstairs and we can't get an extention through the house and having it go down the stairs is a stupid idea. It's in my room upstairs and I can't move it downstairs. So I figured I could buy one of those Halo Reach cards that give you 14 months, 2 of them free, for £40. But If I need an adapter it needs to be wireless and a good one is £55. I also worry about putting microsoft points on and how to do it because we arn't in the best financial situation right now. We can afford the Gold and the adapter but I'm not so sure about the points. The second I post this I'm going to continue to look I just want advice from those who have been through it. Before anyone says "just go check out the site," I'm doing that right now I just wonder what you all found the easiest method to be.

Don't do it.

Nah just kidding, I know nothing about XBox Live. I know that I hate Games For Windows Live though.

Wireless will never match the latency and bandwidth of a wired connection, not to mention the 360 wireless adapter is the most overpriced peripheral out there. If you MUST have wireless just buy a cheap wireless router and use that in lieu of the 360 adapter.

As for XBL in general, I have been a customer since the original Xbox days and never once have I re-thought my decision. Ever used the free service on the Wii? The fact it is free shows, big time. XBL is worth 60 bucks a year, get it.

getting a wireless adaptor is a good idea,

as for the xbox live, theres a deal going on for the new halo reach stuff, 12 monthes for $33. its really good if you want to save your money for more games or more live in the future (i completely agree that xbox live should be free)

You might want to test another wireless device in your room before making a purchase, just in case the range is too far from your router.

I won't even play online shooters unless someone else I know is on to party up with. Randoms are the worst, at least you can lose with friends and still have a good time.

This is coming from an Xbox Live user: Wait a few weeks. You will really hate it unless you obsessively play Halo: Reach, just wait for the HR hype to die and then sign up.

Halo. Don't listen to these people, its' fun if you're playing with your friends. And if anyone is really getting on your nerves, you can just mute them.

Just last night I was running Big Team Battle with a team of my mates, a whole team of 8 that is.

Fucking awesome time, though with those guys playing Tetris would be a blast.

Works well for weather updates and other simple network tasks. The retarded friend codes and overall flaky connections ruin the experience when gaming though.

The over priced wireless adapter is shit.

Try and make sure the (fucking short) wire reaches your router. Having said that, my wireless adapter takes 2 goes to get online, but when it does, the speeds are excellent. It's still rather crap that it only works when it's teetering on the top of my box rather than clipped on the back. ^_^
