I may never purchase another EA game so long as I live.

This is so true it's sad.

Wait... does this mean that Bioware is EA's Pixar? Wow.

No, only because VALVe is already Pixar in imagination, creativity, and quality. It is a good analogy though. Perhaps if VALVe was bou.... no. Lets not talk about that.

Then we won't have to hear this again when EA sends out another game among its armies of them that isn't up to your standards.
Forgive me if "able to play" is an exceptionally lofty expectation.

Get over it. Plenty of games have lag, and aren't as good as people would like them to be, but you don't see a ***** thread about every company that publishes a game you don't enjoy.
Perhaps you both think I'm being hyperbolic when I say that the game is unplayable. I'm not. I didn't make this thread after missing two or three kills during a minor lag spike, I'm talking about an unconditional lack of functionality where, no matter which game you're assigned to, the player is perpetually teleported back nine steps for every ten they take, attempting to fire a missile results in the appropriate sound and animations playing, but the missile never leaving the launch tube, emptying an entire magazine at an opponent only to have every last bullet magically reappear in your gun and all damage negated, etc... and that's on a good day.

I'm not bitching about minor glitching, what I'm saying is that the game has gone from working near-perfectly to being absolutely fucking broken. I'm sorry if buying a game for the multiplayer aspect, only to have it stop working altogether after only a few months, isn't up to your standards of what constitutes a legitimate problem.

Had Armored Core 4 a while ago. The singleplayer was kinda dull but I was looking forward to the online play, creating my own custom mech with custom paint job and flying around the landscape blasting the shit out of other mechs. Sadly, this was not to be. Apparantly 505 games just couldn't be fucking bothered to finish the online part of the game (I bought this game second hand at least 6 months after release, at LEAST) and hadn't released an update so that people could play online. This meant that I ended up with a poor single player experience and no epic online war with giant mech suits!

To this day, the 505 games logo makes me cringe and scowl!

That's a straight out lie. You will buy another EA game, its impossible not to. (Unless you want to miss a lot of very good games).

And yes, the massive delay of the Fallout 3 DLC's for the PS3 pissed me off enormously.
Shit, I just remembered that the Mass Effect series is published by EA. You got me.
But Mass Effect isn't dependant on servers and all that jazz EA is very 'popular' for. It's just you and the singleplayer experience. In all honesty, nobody would deny you the right to play Mass Effect. >__>; Hush@Haters.
yeah this. while i can understand maybe not buying multiplayer based games, especially shooters, but i mean come on...mass effect, dragon age and whatnot...those are some good candies to be had =]

Novalogic games are fun and the mission editor is so easy to use than you have hundreds, even thousands, of maps to play, yet they don't support the games at all. There are the stupidest ever glitches that they don't even try to fix. Example: Black Hawk Down. Most the time when you try to climb down a ladder you will die out of nowhere.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl was sort of the opposite for me. I love the game, but half the reason I bought it was for the online multiplayer. So what happened during the first few weeks I tried to play online? All that happened is that I would sit in the lobby while the game "registered" players that it hadn't even connected to yet. If I didn't get an error code, I would give up all together. I was still having this problem months after the game was released. And if by some miracle I actually did connect? Laaaaaaaaaaaaggggggy as hell. It's gotten better, though. These days I can usually find a match (Usually lag free), but it's still not guaranteed.

I also used to play Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy's online mode quite often. But I don't think it's the lack of upkeep that's killed it, its the fact that no one plays it anymore. No matter how many servers I join, I rarely find anyone who isn't a retarded bot. (Literally, the bot A.I is horrible. They just walk back and forth in a straight line and never even attack you) I suppose it's understandable, though. The game IS seven years old.

I recently bought Skate 3, and I can't even play it online because it says "We're sorry, you're not old enough to access the online features", and yet I can play Battlefield and Skate 2 without any problems whatsoever. I've contacted EA, they said contact Xbox, I've contacted Xbox, they said contact EA; great. The only "viable" options they gave me were to create a new account, or make a new account that I can play Skate 3 on for the remainder of my active XBL subscription. I can play every other game online without problems, it's just Skate 3, which is annoying as this instalment had a heavy emphasis on multiplayer.. so yeah, fuck EA.

I loved The Matrix Online, but it got sold to SOE, lost AIM funtionality(it mattered to me at the time), had a total combat overhaul, got almost no promotion beyond the time of its initial release, and was left to wither and die leaving only its hardcore community to mourn what once had been.
While I'm not one to hold a grudge(and I know some citing this and SOE's handling of SWG as reasons to never deal with them again); I will say I am still at least a bit irritated about how it all played out.

Now, as for the discussion: Have you ever fallen in love with a game, only to have it fall apart before your very eyes due to a gross lack of support from the companies responsible for maintaining it?
Yes, and that's why I don't buy games from EA or Ubisoft until they can show me that they can care more about developing a game, then the money they'll make off of it.

Pretty close. EA has the money to buy exclusive licenses, and simply buy out the competition. In fact, you might say that's an insult to Disney lol

Yep, you're correct. I've been primarily bringing down buildings on White Pass with C4, using the recon kit so I could throw down motion mines and know when to detonate without having to expose myself. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to be shot to millions of pieces when I try to do that after the match has gone on for more than thirty seconds. I'll definitely give your tactics a try if the game ever works again, thanks.
