Although what you did is bad, your relationship is not irretrievable. You take her aside and explain everything. EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. Explain how you like her if you haven't already. Explain how you don't like being told to change. Explain how you misunderstood her. And most of all, explain how you are sorry.
