oh, those were the days. I really like gold, but I remember when the original red and blue came out, the show was still really popular and "Nintendo Power" released this like multi-part pokemon comic, and I was collecting the cards - yeah the red and blue days were the best.

I have a good deal of nostalgia for Pokemon, it being my introduction to anime and practically raising me as a kid and all, but I'll also admit I liked the batch after the original 151.

after red blue or (red green over seas) pokemon got retarded. nintendo tried to make them all too cute. before the gameplay was great mixed with a little bit of story. then 4kids entertainment got the rights to make a tv show and it all became about that. now instead of hey theis cool game has a show, its more, hey this show has a game... it makes me sad

I think some of the newer ones are good; Dialga, Lucario, Luxray and Darkrai come to mind. Although i will admit, the amount of good designs per generation has been dropping ever since GSC.

Not to say that the originals didn't have some fugly ones. Grimer and Muk are prime examples. And what were they smoking when they came up with Executor, exactly? Koffing and Wheezing, too...

If you ask me, that last statement totally invalidated everything else you said. Not to mention that I and I'm sure many other people consider Crystal to be the best of the series.

I had stopped playing after Gold, but I did recently pick up Platinum for my DSi havent had much of a chance to put anytime into it yet though.

Oh and the card game was bad ass. Making my mom take me to the 'Battle Center' at Toys R' Us every Saturday... I was so close to getting the 8th badge,,,,it still frustrates me to think about it!

I've seen loads of threads about Pokemon recently which is cool as I just got my Pokemon Crystal in the mail after deciding that I needed a Pokemon game for my neglected GBC after losing Silver about 5 years ago.

I hated Yellow. Blue was alright, and I never owned red. Crystal was my favorite of all time. Ruby was OK. And Diamond did some stuff alright. That is my history with the series.
