I have over 1600 hours into multiple save slots, if you want a turn based strategy rpg the best one ever is Disgaea: Hour of Darkness

It'll last you a good 80 hours (or more if you take your time).
Seconded. I suggest you play through it at least twice, once with a male Warden, once with a female Warden (human noble, if you want the "best" possible ending). You're gonna get drastically different endings if you just play it right.

Ahh, two things, aren't they called DoTA? Well, i call the genre that way, and they are amazing and OP should play em, and HoN isn't free, or wasn't last time i checked, but certainly is my favourite, by far, of the two..

If we are going that way, also try TF2, Bloodline Champs, SC II and Monday Night Combat. Good stuff there.
It actually just went free-to-play recently. Pretty nice actually, i was tight on cash for a while so i couldn't buy it. Both games are great in their own way and both are fun to play!

But i've been hearing people call it a MOBA recently, and i suppose it makes sense. Now that there is more than one real standout in the genre there needs to be an all-encompassing term.

Tales of Vesperia if you got a 360. It's on Games on Demand and it's truly a masterpiece if you like JRPG (not turn based battles and got offline multiplayer for the battles). There's literally hundreds of sidequests (not exaggerating here). When you complete the game you can choose something called new game + where your skills in the game can grant you stuff like 10X exp in the next run, or how about make it harder and get 50% exp next run? You can also choose to get all weapons and attacks from the end on your new playthrough. There's no story choices such as in Fallout or Oblivion, but if you play it without paying attention to side quests the first time around and do next play with them you could easily get a whole new experience and probably round up around 100 hours on it.
What's good about it is that it really gets the story just right. It starts out pretty simple. Help your friends by getting back a stolen item. Then it turns out you've stumbled upon something much bigger and while you finish the first story aspect there's now a much bigger and deeper one left. That's pretty standard for any JRPG, right? Now here's for the spoiler, I'll keep it brief, but I still warn you before taking a look.
You finish that story and everything seems to be working out for the best. Then something new happens. It actually seems like a series of games rather than just one and it's all done in such a way that it doesn't feel like they should be 3 different games. At least I wanted it to never end yet wanting it to end just to see how it would end

There's also Pokemon.

I wish I could but I could only play them on emulator as I just couldn't get it running. Same goes for every PS game. I know that not all mentioned console games here are only for PS but if I had to emulate games from PSP, DS or PS3 if thats even possible, then it would feel much more like piracy.

Dwarf Fortress. It's an RPG if you play the Adventurer mode. Try to memorize every page of the wiki first, though, as it's incredibly difficult. I might also recommend a different tileset to make it slightly more understandible.

Here's a link (it's free, Yay!)

And here's a story about someone's experience in the Fortress mode.

Once you get used to the game, you'll want to keep playing. Hoepfully.

Remember that it's not finished, and inspired Notch to make Minecraft.
I did play DW and it was great but if wanted to play something like that now I would probably get Dungeon Keeper or Diggles because I need something more simple now.

WoW cannot be played just a 2-3 hours a day.

Why? Is there a rule i haven't been made aware of? I've probably only played about 5-6 hours in the last week.
Well, for 2-3 hours you may do some instances but there is no way that it could be enough for raiding and pvp can no longer be full time job because arenas take you about half an hour a week. RP could be fun but for that I would need almost perfect english.

Have you thought about a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA)? An rpg they are not, but they have a massive amount of players and you can play it without end. The big two, Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends, are free to play. HoN takes more skill, but LoL is easier to jump into with a tutorial and co-op vs bots games.

For MMORPG's i would suggest trying to get into the betas for Tera, and Blade and Soul. Both are coming out relatively soon and seem to bring a few new ideas to MMO's. Just take a peek at some info at them.
I fail hard on any Dota game so that is out of question but I may check those MMORPGS.

I finally got into playing Cave Story, which proved to be quite a gem of a game. There are plenty of save points, so you don't have to play for extended periods of time. It also has a great story with separate paths for multiple playthroughs. Also, if you really want the True Ending, there's a nice bonus dungeon with some extreme difficulty, if you're feeling a little masochistic. Best of all, it's Freeware. I managed to get both of the endings in about three-days, but I had a lot of free time that weekend.
Great game, played it when it was still new.

I know this may sounds crazy. However it is a franchise we can all fall in love with.

POKEMON
I have played Pokemon Gold. Pokemon games have such a great potential to be competitve games and I really feel that singepleayer is useless because last time I replayed it I made a great team and then I just stoped playing because I could defeat anyone.

Also to those who mentioned Baldurs Gate. Played it, love it , but I think I need something more simple now.
Those who mentioned Deus Ex I may try it and same goes for Systemshock and Bioshock.

Did I reply to everyone? Hardly, that would be insane.
My winner for now is probably Dragon Age and some FPS RPGs but I may also check some other mentioned games that I haven't played yet. Maybe I will make second wave of replies later.

Dragon age sucks
Wow.

Such a shining example of humanity here.

Mentlegen, take note- you must strive to be like this man.

Such elegance. Such tact. Such a way with words.

Lenteja, you are a poet.
A concise and accurate phrase is better than a long winded one.
To each their own, I suppose, but I disagree entirely. If you're going to say something sucks, give reason. Why does it suck? Why would another game be better?

/thread.
That /thread doesn't even make any sense.

This thread isn't about whether or not Dragon Age is good.

Why not try saints row 2 or a just cause 2 both games will give you one of the two sandboxes on the market and if your the type that can get lost in a sandbox they are both games that will swallow you whole.
Just Cause 2 will keep you playing for years if you drop 2-3 hours a day into. It's absolutely massive and reminds me more of an MMO with its size. Also, it's a shit ton of fun.

The entire Fallout Series?
Theyre all worth a play. You could get them all pretty cheap except for New Vegas.
And with the more then active modding scene, FO3 and New Vegas last nearly thrice as long as they should.

Ontop of that, the AMAZING Dlc for new vegas is something unlike anyother.
Old World Blues had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Laughing like a mad man, and giggling like a school girl.

Try the Fallout games. Very high replayability and is an overall very excellent experience regardless of which one in the series you choose to play. :3

I Want To Be The Guy: The Movie: The Game

You won't possibly finish it in the first day and actually has some exploration / multiple paths to go through.

Good luck!

Why not just go along with the original Deus Ex? She's tried, and tested and a damned fine game. (Which funnily enough I was talking to a conspiracy theorist about.)

As for Human Revolutions, I'm not trying not to hope that it stands up to the original. With hope, lies disappointment. But who am I kidding, of course I'm hoping! XD
Humm... i would wait for a Steam sale to play the original, but i am a cheap SOB!
Ha ha ha, now that IS cheap. I think you can pick up a really old game like that (11 years, I think) for about a fiver around my neck of the woods. Though if you're really cheap, you could pick it up on Freecycle or E-bay.

Oblivion or morrowwind, if you can wait then skyrim. Ive spent over 1000 hours on oblivion so yeah its quite long.
If you're into shooters, I'd say Mass Effect or Fallout 3. Both take a very long time to complete (unless you JUST do the main storyline, which is no fun) and are really great games.
If you're not into shooters, I'd say Dragon Age or Oblivion. Both take a stupidly long time to play, and will suck you in. I have at least 1k hours in it, and I'm still doing new stuff. Again, don't JUST do the main storyline.
If you like RTS, pick up SC2. Its really fun, and the custom maps get more and more inventive every day. Besides that, the campaign is sooooo gooooood.

Several people have suggested Deus Ex, and I have to say the same. Your computer will have to be pretty high end to really enjoy it, but the same can be said about SC2, and I enjoy it just fine with my decent comp.

What helps when I've run out of games to play is doing a general google search and slowly narrowing it down till I find a game that tickles my pickle.

I really recommend terraria, it's rather addictive but you can easily just put 2-3 hours into it per day without a problem and the actually hours spent on it can go from 80 too almost an infinite amount of time (depending on if you start to get busy with the builder aspect of the game or if you feel like replaying).
It also has free content updates once a while so that keeps you playing as well, the only problem might be the graphics Re-logic used, it might not appeal to everyone.
