I need fun, simple RPGs for a 9 year old. Yeah, you read that right.

My first RPG was Morrowind :D

Torchlight. Its Diablo but cute.
Not really.

"Diablo But cute" would Fate. Fate is just kid friendly diablo.

although... Diablo isnt an RPG really... not even on a super simple "Spore" level RPing

Well, almost all of my suggestions have been taken so far... But I'm gonna put my 2 cents in and say Animal Crossing
NO! Because of that game I am racist against racoons. Greedy lil' f*ckers...
But you have to admit, it is fairly simple and enjoyable, especially for a 9 year old girl just getting into gaming..

How about pokemon. There's a lot of grind to that if you want to train a lot of pokemon. Also there is the possibility that she will slowly discover the deeper elements of it and come to appreciate that as well.

You could lure her into it with the promise of cute collectible creatures, and when she's done she's suddenly a far more experienced gamer.

Pokemon, mario RPGs, Torchlight. Titan Quest would work reasonably well too, but not Diablo. For either of the last two, be prepared to help out a bit with explaining the whole skill thing.

I mean, I played things like Planescape: Torment when I was seven, but I'm weird. This is going by what sane people of that age would play. Secret of Mana on an emulator may be decent as well. Or Seiken Densetsu 3.

If she wants grind, then... World of Warcraft free trial, possibly?

And if she stops liking grind and starts hating Farmville, introduce him to Farmvillain. That's where I cross the line on advertising.

Paper mario 2. It's cartoony and fun to look at, and very simple. Keep in mind that she's 9. Bad graphics might be a big downside for a kid. I would refrain from using anything that looks like it's pre n64 era.

Im going to be more realistic about my choices for her rather than just say KOTOR or Morrowind (im 21 years old and i still find morrowind somewhat confusing) because that's just silly.

I would say chocobo tales mysterious dungeon on the wii, i haven't played it myself but it seems like a very kid friendly rpg

or just give her a pokemon game. 9 year old's and pokemon games seem to go hand in hand all the time, i guarantee she won't put it down.

Kingdom Hearts isn't all too complicated. I played it when I was 10 and instantly fell in love with it. It was actually my gateway game.

If she likes Farmville, get a Harvest Moon title. I've been hooked on Harvest Moon since I first played the original on the SNES.

It's not an RPG But Peggle, always Peggle.
Besides that, Paper Mario, Super Mario RPG, POKEMON!, stuff like that.

If she likes farming, get her Harvest Moon (one of the good ones).

Oblivion was my first RPG but I'd played lots of other games before it. And it's 15+. I'd say maybe Pokemon.

It's hard to say anything except for Pokemon for this. The original Kingdom Hearts is simple, but the problem there is if she wants to understand the story for any of the other games.

Or you could be cruel and hook her up with the original Legend of Zelda. Not an RPG, but watching the frustration she'll get as she won't be able to find the first dungeon would be quite funny.

Well, the words 'simple' and 'RPG' rarely go together. I'd suggest D&D 4th edition. I've heard it's good for beginners.

Lies, it's a pretty complex game. Maybe less so than 3rd but more than any other. Basic DnD is the way to go (in every respect).

But if you want a CRPG, then you're never too young for Fallout. Or maybe just go with Fable.

I've played DF and the first thing that came into my head when you posted that was "Oh dear"
