Hello all... i know this is a stupid sort of post... and i dont even know why im making it.. but here goes.

The situation is i am a 17 year old male. I was dating a 17 year old female. We broke up on our 11 month anniversary... I got with a 21 year old. I have been with her for the past 2 months... About 2 hours ago i broke it off... because i could get out of bed in the morning with her telling me she loved me... Knowing that i still loved the 17 year old... I would have been lying to say i loved her back... SO now me and the 21 year old are over... And i feel bad even though i technically did the right thing... i did tell her i didnt feel love for her... and you cant force a feeling... SO did i do the right thing by leaving her? or am i an idiot... Be as harsh as you want or as kind or gentle... just need morale support....

You were honest to yourself. You did the right thing.
Hopefully the 21 year old understands and you broke up on good terms, rather than ending up hating each other.

You did the right thing, you'd only be lying to her if you told her you loved her too. Which would only end with her being hurt even more - you wouldn't be able to keep up the charade forever.

Aren't relationships a pain in the arse? Nothings ever simple

She loves you, you don't love her back, there's no point in hanging around, delaying the inevitable. God knows you don't want to fall into that horrible "relationship routine" where you don't really want to move forward, but you're in too deep to get out. You did the right thing, even though she may hate you for it.

Well, as Dave Sim once said, you'd just start thinking about when you'd break up all of the time.

Leading her on would have been more painful for both of you. It's harsh but at least it was over cleanly, no lying or cheating. Best to do it that way really.

You did the right thing.

Just to derail things sligthly, why is it that the right thing is hardly ever the easiest thing to do? It bloody well sucks.

You didn't do anything wrong. As you said, you can not force a feeling...
And you were honest to her, wich, even though maybe a bit painful, is honest, which is something rare enough these days. If i was her, it would have probably hurt me, but i would rather be hurt than be lied to.

I think you did the right thing, and I think it is nice you were honest.

To quote the words of the Virgin Mary, "move on, she doesn't want you, there's nothing you can do to change that, aren't vaginas fun to play with?"

That exactly man... i brought that up... like i asked if she would rather add additional time to the relation ship and then have me break it off... She said thanks for being honest... But she said it through tears so i still cant feel good...

I'd say you did the right thing, you can't conjure up emotions from no where. and someone that old should know better O.O
