I have a favor to ask of you.

I just looked through my Zune and noticed that I've only added one new album of music in about the past 4 years. I seriously, SERIOUSLY, need some new music.

So please, my fellow escapists... I need suggestions. Give me anything (I've got very broad tastes), just let me know what genre they play, if you don't mind.

Annnnnnnnnd... GO!

DAFT PUNK.

I've got a video!
I opted for the live version because it has an awesome show, but the sound quality isn't all that.

Carte blanche eh? Oh man, there are so many things I could recommend right now, I'd be here all night! In the interest of actually going to bed and getting some sleep however I'll just chuck a project I discovered a couple of days ago your way: Delany, a (so far) one off German/multi-national Melodic Metal project that's released a concept album based on the work of a notable German author I'd never heard of. As usual with concept albums, you really don't need to know that it is one to enjoy it, I only found that bit out after I'd bought the album and listened to it a few times, and then only because I was curious enough to track down details (Amazon had precisely no info on the band and nobody had reviewed the album, so I went in totally blind).

Anyhow, the project has three different lead vocalists (David Readman, Davy Vain, and Lana Lane) and has produced a pretty damn excellent melodic metal album - here are three example tracks featuring each of those vocalists:

Danish music. I think it bloody brilliant.
That would be because it is bloody brilliant - you can tell that's true because I said so. Science fact.

Everybody will offer their two cents, so I'll offer mine :p
I recommend the Red Hot Chili Peppers. If you haven't caught yourself singing along to the likes of 'Snow (Hey Oh)', 'Hump De Bump' etc then you have no heart! Get Stadium Arcadium for a little bit of everything, By The Way for something softer, and Californication for those pumping rock ballads they're known for. Or, you could go further back, but I regard their last three albums the best.

I know they make such awesome videos... like the Rubber Rocket video where all they did was go in to some random bar and start doing karaoke...

Well since The Decemberists has already been taken, I will recommend The Like. Their album, Release Me, is very 60s inspired in a good way.
