I second the Project Zero games comment. It's the best for atmospheric/immersivness of it all, you also pretty much feel vulnerable and the gameplay makes sure that you can't just blast the hell out of the ghoulies.
Wait a minute, a bullet just hit me in the face. OH THANK GOD.Charcharo said:You, sir need the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl treatment!
I'm sorry, but I just had to quote this, because your avatar kicks fucking ass.Brotherofwill said:It would help if you could list what consoles/ platforms you have. Only PC?
Sadly, I haven't been really scared by a video game since Doom 3 just when it came out, so I doubt the athmosphere holds up favourably by today's standards. Actually Portal scared me a bit, but I do tend to get paranoid when an omni-present, dictatorial voice guides me.
thanks for the link! that scared the piss out of me. I do scare easily.. but still.. the whole peeking around the corner/through the crack in the door shit had me.PixieFace said:Wait for Amnesia: The Dark Descent to be released. The only thing you can do in this game, as far as I understand, is run and hide. That's fucking terrifying.
Check out the Condemned titles, too. The first FEAR is good for some spooky moments. Silent Hill 2 is always a great standby if you don't want to sleep at night, either.
Haha I was about to suggest that as well, I just put a list of games and creepy moments there.Bonkekook said:Look through here.

There's a ton of games listed that may interest you.
Really? SH 3 aswell? I never made it through that because the intro sequence was so freaking long it was terrible. And the monsters are too plentyfull.Casual Shinji said:I'm sorry, but I just had to quote this, because your avatar kicks fucking ass.Brotherofwill said:It would help if you could list what consoles/ platforms you have. OT: The first three Silent Hill games are pretty pants-wetting.
I think SH3 was kinda going for more of a chaotic terror rather than a silent fear. It's still the weakest of the three, but check out some videos on youtube and you'll see it has a couple of seriously creepy moments like, "the mirror room".Boneasse said:Really? SH 3 aswell? Play Penumbra: Black Plague if you can't wait. It's made by the same people, and has the same gameplay (run and hide from the HOLY HELL WHAT IS THAT!!!?!?!)PixieFace said:Wait for Amnesia: The Dark Descent to be released. A. You could kill yourself in the intro sequence right away if you wanted to (but it would make a later plot point not make sense).Boneasse said:Really? SH 3 aswell? I never made it through that because the intro sequence was so freaking long it was terrible. And the monsters are too plentyfull.

Ah, I'm talking about the trip to the town. You know the long segment with backtracking and what not, until you actually get where you're supposed to go. I just thought it took too long and was disappointed that you weren't in 'Silent Hill' until 5-6 hours into the game. That's what I meantlacktheknack said:B. Oh. That didn't bother me, it was like I was in Silent Hill anyway.Boneasse said:Ah, I'm talking about the trip to the town.
