Matter of fact he's right in a way. It's not so much that they are stronger, though, just that they will push themselves harder than you would otherwise expect. Nor do they always seem to feel pain the same way. There's a kid in the same lunch as me who snapped a tray over his forehead, breaking it clean in half. These thing are thick, trust me. But everyone around him clapped, and pretty soon the entire cafeteria was cheering him. Guess what happened the next day.DisturbiaWolf13 said:you were fully justified in your actions, and what did slywiskers say? Certain mentally challenged people can be. They tend to not realize their strength and not hold back when they get angry.DisturbiaWolf13 said:you were fully justified in your actions, and what did slywiskers say? YES. A thousand times YES.Dommyboy said:Bingo.Specter_ said:No. And where's the moral dilemma? He "attacked" you, you defended yourself. Just because he's retarded doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants.Haliwali said:Was I wrong?
A lot of the dilemmas I read about on The Escapist are just completely stupid. People get bagged out for the stupidest things. Humanity is full of pricks. Perhaps a genocidal rampage is in order?
Hmmmm I wouldn't. I would probably kill him.traceur_ said:thismegapenguinx said:No, I mean you have a right to defend yourself in any situation, no matter the opponent
personally I would have dodged the attacks until he gave up, I would feel bad if I hit a mentally challenged kid but you OP should not.
Ah PC, it's a ***** aint it? If anyone gives you crap, you tell them to deal with the retard and see how they like it. then when they come back they'll know why you havent killed him yet.Haliwali said:A student I have classes with is mentally challenged. He isn't exactly friendly to me, throwing small things and swearing at me, and is encouraged by the classmates. I normally ignore this. Today, he took a rubber band and flung a rock at me, which missed. He then walked over to where I was standing and, while my back was turned, flicked me in the back of the neck. I turned around while swatting my hand to my neck, and thus hit him in his face. He stooped to grab a wooden board which I can only assume he intended to strike me with, and I stamped down on it. He stood back up and acted like he was going to hit me, and I shoved him back by reflex.
Apparently, this makes me the worst mofo on the planet. Stoners, drug dealers, and racists (all in my class) saw me as the scum of the Earth.
There's going to be a linch mob when I get to work, from what I've gathered. I have training to defend myself, and I think I can rely on some of coworkers to help me out, but I present to you this question:
Was I wrong?
I'll post more when I get back from work tonight.
its not that mentally challenged people are physically stronger than every1 else, just that they will probably make no attempt at holding back and i dont see a moral dilemma,i cant imagine a reasonable argument against what you did,so dont feel guiltyslyywiskers said:well they way i see it hiting him in the face was an acciedent but over all his own fault. and shoveing him when he made to hit i geusse is all right becouse mentally challeneged people are uassally very strong...... he could have (if not perpouslly) done you serious harm.
Define Mentally Challenged? Does he really have a mental illness or is he just acting stupid? Where I am from (Kansas) violence against teachers is usually punishable by expulsion from the entire school district, save one school called Fairfax. This school is like a prison where the kids are stripped searched and really cant do much save read books/do worksheets.Haliwali said:A student I have classes with is mentally challenged. I was mainly going from the teachers perspective. They barely have the time to teach the subject matter to the non-challenged kids and can't spend the time giving the extra attention these kids need. Either that or they do provide the time/attention and the whole class suffers by having the class stopped, covering less material, Etc. The whole thing creates a sad catch 22 as they end up wishing they could do both but they just can'tHaliwali said:Actually my brother has had pretty good result while out of the Developmentally Challenged classes, More words->
