Indeed i do. Really now, though, if you're in such a hurry that you can barely muster the energy to press two extra keys when you want to say "You" then
1: I can see why you can't be bothered to use capital letters either, seeing as the strain of pressing two keys at once seems to be extremely difficult for you
2: Either:
2a: You're genuinely really panicking about something and don't have time to type.
2b: You're illiterate.
Or
2c: You're just a complete idiot.

1: "ure"
You are typing a shortening of "Your" there. The "e" is extending the shortening. Well done, you have successfully broken the entire point of what this conflict started over.
2: Crooked paintings? Where the hell did you get that connection from?

Okay, from what i have played so far i am not very impressed.

For starters this game claims that you can "play it how you want." Well that couldn't be farther from the truth. This is a stealth game plain and simple; you just get to choose whether it is a game where u shoot people that know your around there somewhere, shoot people that have no idea your there, or u can choose to not kill people but instead put them into a magical coma with your non lethal pistol/tazer and tranq rifle. But what you cannot do under any circumstance is stand up and stop using their stupid ass fucking cover system, more on that later, because u will die instantly.

but u know what i dont give a frak if the game doesn't want to give me choice as long as the gameplay im pigeonholed into is good. I actually LIKE stealth games. The splinter cell games are great fun. I love metal Gear Solid. I've played every single Bethesda game as a sneak character, ive played 3 SOCOM games, i played stalker like a kneay ghost dishing out Ukranian justice and honestly u could list a trillion more examples; basically stealth games are my shit. So i start this game with the intention of playing it how they want me to and after about an hour or so i realize how freaking dumb the AI is and how stupid the EXP distribution is.

lets start with the "AI" and all the wonderful intelligence they have been blessed with. basically every single enemy i have come across has one single set path where they walk between one or 2 points, stopping occasionally. They never deviate at all or have any sort of realistic rhyme or reason to how they are moving. They cant seem to see anything u do except for randomly every once and a while when they are nowhere near u. They can hear up to about 3 feet away from themselves. unless u dare try to kill someone with a melee attack. Heaven forbid u harm a human being(but we will get back to that) Basically if u are crouching and u arent directly in front of someone u could follow them around their entire patrol route without them noticing. 2 people are in a room less than 10 feet from each other. No problem just melee on then walk over and melee the other. Stealth AI is notoriously bad but this is just a joke.

but i guess the thing that pisses me off most of all, is that certain gameplay types actually get more experience than others.u get MORE experience for not killing someone(remember the magical coma). and u get loads more experience for meleeing someone but make sure u do a nonlethal melee attack because ure character has to kill people in the noises way possible. because u know getting stabbed is way noisier than getting the shit beaten out of you. This makes no sense.

and the controls are just freaking awful. U have no choice but to use toggle iron sights, when u stick to cover u cant peek with the iron sight button but u have to move to the edge. the melee button and cover change button do different things depending on if u hold or tap them/ The sprint is a joke. most of the upgrades are pointless and feel like they should have been unlocked from the beginning.

Oh and the voice acting is shitty but u cant tell because the idle animations during conversations look like the character has parkinsons 50 percent of the time.

The music and art are nice tho. I guess that is a plus. So ya someone please tell me what im doing wrong or why I'm wrong.
Splintercell was the same, as long as the enemy didn't see the body he'd never wonder where his friend went and if he ever would it wouldn't cause any problems... obviously his friend was just going for a smoke in the secret nuclear silo.

LOL I was really hoping you would respond to this. I can't believe you didn't get my crooked painting joke. I was basically extending this anal fixation to another common obsession you anal retentive folks have, fixing crooked paintings. But I guess you either didn't notice or didn't care that it was a troll response. You are missing the real reason why I don't spell out "you" sometimes or capitalize every "I." I am obviously not illiterate, I like to think I'm not an idiot and I'm definitely not panicking. I just don't care. Why should I? If it honestly means so much to someone that they don't want to read my post, I don't care.

ps.Thanks for pointing out that wasted letter. I think in the long run dropping that "e" could really save me some time.

lol there shouldn't be any long term side effects of smoking a carcinogen in a carcinogenic environment, right?

I feel like this game had a lot more open rooms than splinter cell did though. And the environments are a lot clearer. So even though the 2 situations are identical, I just felt like it was more obvious in this game. Probably just me though lol

I LOVE how everybody here has their "grammar guns" up. It's funny because Grammar Nazi's think that they're better than everyone else because they can spell (seriously, their underlying pretentious attitudes is a major reflection of Grammar Nazi's sad and boring personalities). It's really sad because the real reason people don't spell or punctuate properly is just like Knobody says, he ultimately doesn't give a shit about you, me or anybody in this forum. "But that doesn't matter, he spelled 'you' 'u'! What an asshole!" And suddenly all the Hitler's come out. How fun!

Allow me to paint this for you:

YOU and U - different appearance, same meaning.

Black, white, yellow skin - different appearance, same meaning.

Think of it this way - for every post of yours that we get "SCUM! SPELLING ERRORS OMG!!", another 198765 (hopefully this hyperbole will sink into your dense, clouded minds) people send the exact same thing.
An analogy for those who still don't get it: The most common post on Reddit.com is 'Repost' (when person A posts something for people to read, hours/days/months/ later person B posts same thing). How does it feel to be unoriginal? Either way, nobody wants to here your worthless opinion, just like you don't want to hear mine.

The mere fact that these people choose to confront you about your poor spelling, rather than the more important picture (i.e. THE OPINION-BASED DEBATE THAT IS THIS FORUM ON DEUS EX: HR)immediately makes them a bigger troll than you are, and less important than you are.

Because realistically (like how realistic Deus Ex: HR is), the internet is not formal and therefore results in informal posts.

To be fair, Grammar Nazi's are sometimes right, and the person is actually stupid. Not today! Knobody laughs at these idiots faces, and it makes them so mad that he doesn't give a shit about his spelling and he posted his stuff in minutes and it took these assholes 45 minutes to write, proof-read, re-proof-read then send it just to make sure there isn't a single punctuation mistake so that another Nazi doesn't jump on his ass. Their 'own kind', if you will. You guys either need to learn to fuck off, or accept the fact that not everybody has OCD like you.

With that said, I just wanted to relate to the actual forum topic, otherwise I would be no better than the Nazi's then, would I? Deus Ex: HR IMO, in a nutshell: Really good. Definitely not game of the year Portal 2 anyone? Graphics, great. Story, amazing. Gameplay, pretty sound, with a few hiccoughs. I guess my bigger issue is, and I'm realizing it's strange as I type it, but virtually every person in the game is a major asshole. There's like 5 people in the world who are actually good willed people. I know the tagline is trust no one, but seriously? It's insane, I can't even walk down a sewer area without some purist douche threatening to kill me the moment he sees me! And Jensen's done nothing wrong at this point! Assholes!

tl;dr Grammar Nazi's are a plague. Start the awareness now and fight the the good fight! And Deus EX:HR is okay!

I look forward to the third reich crawling up my ass because of this post. But since I don't give a shit about these guys anyway, I probably won't ever come back here. Rock on, Knobody, I don't know you, but stay cool and independent.

I love every bit of the stealth sections, and the boss fights are a bit hard if you haven't augged for combat, but it just adds to the experience. the game is difficult and I love learning how to play it flawlessly anyways. the cover system becomes so natural after playing for a while.

What I don't understand is why you seem so upset with the game because you don't like it. I hated Killzone 2, I simply stopped playing it and now it's sitting in the very bottom of my game drawer because it's so awful it's not even worth trading in (worth $0.25).

For what it's worth I agree that Deus Ex is very good at giving you an illusion of choice, but multiple playthroughs reveals that you're still somewhat limited. There are many examples of this within the game, I won't bother listing them.

I really liked it though. It's a well-made game with an excellent balance between freedom of choice and linear structure. I like the graphics, the writing, the voice acting, the augmentation system, the inventory tetris...I had a lot of fun.

And I strongly disagree with your comments about the controls. The only awkward thing in my experience was entering codes using the PS3 controller, I can imagine on the keyboard it would be a lot better.

Your point about the XP system favouring some types of gameplay more than others is completely unfounded. You DO realize that you would have to do non-lethal takedowns to 100 enemies to gain a single level? This is what happens when you make judgements based on only 7 hours of gameplay. If you had beaten the game first you'd see that level-ups are pleasantly frequent starting at around the midway point of the game. You don't have to stress about gaining levels at all.

Sounds like your most legit complaint to me is that the game is too easy because of the AI. Well, the game is difficult in other ways. If takedowns weren't silent, or if enemies would suddenly randomly deviate from their patrol paths, it would be ridiculous and half the players would be complaining about that. There are enough complaints about difficulty already because of the boss battles and how easy it is for Jensen to die when taking direct gunfire.

Bad grammar and spelling just makes the person typing sound stupid, it's that simple. To some people, it's difficult to read because it's like a stupid person constantly pronouncing words wrong in your ear. I do a lot of reading and writing and when I make typos, I sound like a total dumbass even though I'm (usually) not. It's natural to make fun of bad language skills.

So far all I have seen is videos of the game, I actually think you are right but again all I have seen were videos.

Also the music in the game is awsome.

You can play it like a straight up third person shooter like I am. You can play how you want within reason. Also get some armour upgrades.

I don't know how anyone can say the sprint upgrades are useless.

Combo it with the icarus fall, silent movement, energy and camo and you can just sprint around undetectable, meleeing those soldiers with heavy rifles that seem to hate you so much.
Only problem with that tactic is you have to munch on energy bars like a fat kids on crack.

Also, you can go in guns blazing, only you have to play by the game's rules and hide in cover.
I'm pretty sure the above-mentioned heavy rifle is in no way suited for a stealthy approach, nor is the bitchin' laser bazooka and badass explosive revolver.

Im not reading anything in the thread for fear of spoilers, but I think its awesome till now (played for about 10 hours). There is nothing more satisfying than sneaking through an entire building full of baddies, not once raising the alarm, maybe stunning 2 guards once when otherwise you cant get past them, etc. Really good.

That is, until I got to the first boss. What the FUCK, Eidos. You fucking retarded cunts, what the fuck were you thinking? If I ever meet the guy who thought it would be a good idea to put a mandatory tank boss fight in a big open room in a game that has you rely heavily on being sneaky and not being seen, I will stab him in the eye with a pencil. Multiple times. So fucking retarded. But hey, I got passed him alright.

ANYWAY OP, my advice would just be to give it another go. Deus Ex, both the first and HR, they are games that require a lot of patience if you want to succeed. Keep that in mind. I think you just need to get used to it, luckily since playing the first Witcher game I no longer have a problem doing that (even the Extended Edition was so backward and confusing when you played it for the first time).
You know i might actually do that. To be honest some people have had some very good points and if i play the game without caring about being detected I think I might have more fun. I just really need a silenced pistol. Should i have been able to get one before the first boss? That's where i finally rage quit. I just thought this game was going to satisfy my stealth itch but the stupid AI and the fact that my arm blades alert the entire compound ruined that for me. There might still be a decent Cover based TPS in there somewhere though. You guys have given me hope of that.

I was just very excited about this game, and it was not what I expected.

I too enjoyed the inventory space management. I don't think you could understand what bothered me about the controls because of the difference in interface.

What i said about the xp is actually very founded; it's just irrelevant if what you say is true. I think reserving judgments until you beat the game would be great advice for a professional game critic; but unfortunately I don't think I should have to play a video game seething with rage until i finally make it to the "good part." I think I would prefer the more advanced AI. I wonder how much extra work it would have been to incorporate advanced pathing into the harder difficulties. To be honest a challenge like that would have drawn me much farther into this game and made me forget about many of my nitpicks.

Pretty much what I expected would happen after the initial hype is over.

The game isn't that good.

Another Alpha Protocol, just with more accurate shooting mechanics, but also a worse interactive story and worse voice acting.
