This thread is just asking if you ever had an experience where you knew more/better then someone who was talking about a certain subject?

For example, I'm a DJ at an Oldies station, so I hear lots of songs from the 80s, 70s, 60's, and sometimes even the 50s (their few but most are pretty good). I notice that while a few are quiet excellent in their own rights, there are many that have sexual innuendos and meanings in them. Also, it seems I'll play for 10 minutes straight songs that are nothing else but about Some Girl and how Great she is, how the singer wants to Hold Her All Night, Love Her All Day, etc.
I find this funny, because many of the older and middle age gents and madams I know will usually complain about how today's music is all about sex and how everyone is the same thing but with a different singer. When they do say this, I just simply smile and shake my head at people's misconceptions.

So, dear Escapist Community, have you ever had a time when you just laughed at someone's lack of knowledge/misconceptions? Or did you do something more then just laugh?

When I hear people talking as they walk by, sometimes I want to correct them because what they think is completely wrong. I never butt in, though. I let them figure out what the truth is.

What do you want to correct? A view on politics, religion, gaming? Or just general stupidity?

Facts or absolutes, misconceptions (2012 is NOT the end of the world!), and standpoints on things which many people would consider wrong or distasteful.

Every time I hear someone shoot off about how great Obama is, and how much he has done for our country.

When in all honesty, he has done fuck all of nothing.

He DID have a tea party with the queen though!

Actually, I find I know much more about politics, the wars of recent history, and books (like, really really long books :p) than anyone I know.

I probably would at some point, if I actually listened in on conversations that I'm not a part of.

It's not a "smile" so much as it is a "grimace from restraining the violent urges that come from being around people who don't know what they're talking about but still say it like it's a fact."
Hmm, very true. I usually just laugh and enjoy myself, but some people have a more negative/homicidal look. A poll is needed to determine which is more common!

EDIT: Nevermind! I can not edit in a Poll. But oh well! It seems like most people Hate stupid people. I quiet enjoy them, as long as they clean up after-themselves and stay off my lawn.

This, about many, many things. All the time.

My thoughts exactly. Of course, the problem encompasses the internet as a whole. It seems any idiot can post an uneducated rant with horrible spelling and grammer, yet still be revered by many.

Eh, you probably wouldn't love me too much. I only know about a good 1/4 of the artists, so the rest I have to guess how to pronounce their names. And thanks to Bowie, the 1/4 I do know are now dubious to me whether or not I can pronounce them either. :p

The Youtube comments simply confuse me. It's usually "LAWLS" or you above statement, making me stop reading after the first few comments. Whether any humor can be gotten from the long list of un-godly opinions will remain a mystery to me.

Being fair, he hasn't been President too long. So I tend to ignore anyone who says either that he's done so much or destroyed the country.

And at least there's Cash for Clunkers. That's a start.

Given, people should not be this supportive of him yet.

And Cash for Clunkers is not supported by about 50% of retailers

Off topic: I think the fact that he had tea with the Queen makes him the King of awesome. He'll have that epic anecdote for the rest of his life.

On topic:

There are some things about which I know more about than others. But any sense of self- superiority I get from that is balanced by my knowledge that I also know much less about other things than others. So I tend to keep it inside as a feeling of pride in my knowledge, until I'm asked about it anyway.

But all in all most times everyone around me is essentially on the same level so I don't need to fight feelings of arrogance. :)

Sometimes it's a smile, but most of the time it's a sigh of sadness for how idiotic some people could be.
