It's probably wrong to say that upfront but it'll have to do:

I'm NOT here to indulge myself in whining selfpity. I'm just curious.

My rear motorcycle tire was punctuated by a stupid nail this noon. I had to cancel all other appointments (so no money today) and phone for almost 45 min straight to get the repairs organized. I spent the rest of day sitting on co drivers seat of the repair van driving to the tyre dealer and back to the mechanic (at the rush hour) where my tyre was finally replaced. Now, 8:00pm has passed and I finally got home again and for the first time today I got a meal and something to drink and I got a new tyre, of course.
So since $340 (local currency exchange thanks to google) is of course a painful sum to lose in my country it could have been much much worse. Considering that you could buy a newborn baby in china for just about $500 it is all very meaningless.

So, here are the questions for this off-topic thread if you are in the mood of sharing.

Did you had similiar experiences?
Was you day exciting in another fashion?
Does it sound like much money for such an event?
How would you react in such situations?
How should onereact in such situations?
Do think Nails should be banned because they are evil?
And as the toppic suggested:
How was your day?

I've never had that sort of experience...

My day was not exciting. I had a 4 hour seminar. It was uninteresting and boring and it can die in a fire.

That's quite a lot of money, yeah, but it does depend on what the minimum wage is, and that sort of thing.

I'd probably start shouting angrily.

I'd say start shouting angrily.

I think screws are more useful, tbh.

It was unexciting.

That's all your questions answered, anyway!

Yeah, once you own anything with an engine with it, you tend to run into these random costs. Helps to keep a nice reserve in your bank if you can for this kind of thing. I had to pay a £500 excess on me car insurance cos of a moment's lapse of concentration (thought the car in front of my car had gone, realised a moment too late that it hadn't. Only shunted the back of the person's car... only metal and me wallet were hurt).
Before that, my first car was wrecked by a drunk driver. Fortunately had enough money in reserve to pay for another one (couldn't be car-less for too long as I'm in fulltime employment, and do need to go to the office, tho I can work from home for short periods), cos the idiot insurer at the time kept messing me about before I could get the darned cheque.

Partner's car currently isn't in a working state cos a suspension spring snapped. Not hugely costly to fix, but it's gonna take him time (more time than he thought, cos he needed to buy more bits and he has to replace both). Fortunately he doesn't need it for his job, so he's been able to take his time to fix it instead of paying someone to do it.

Did you had similiar experiences? I guess the above is kinda similar
Was you day exciting in another fashion? No, but yesterday I did manage to rip a toenail off. That hurt :p Also had to take all of last week off thanks to flu :|
Does it sound like much money for such an event? Sounds a bit on the expensive side, if it's for the repair and tow only
How would you react in such situations? "Ah bugger", stress over it for a bit, then move on
How should onereact in such situations? I think I tend to do well
Do think Nails should be banned because they are evil? No, but people who chuck rubbish about should be slapped.
And as the toppic suggested:
How was your day? Not bad, considering my month so far lol.

Did you had similiar experiences? nope. i just got my car, and while i use it alot, nothing bad has really happened to ruin an entire day for me
Was you day exciting in another fashion? Well I played Gears alot.... yea
Does it sound like much money for such an event? Yep. that something so small could become so costly is.. well bad.
How would you react in such situations? Lots of cuss words, than jokes to try and make me feel better
How should onereact in such situations? Anger is acceptable
Do think Nails should be banned because they are evil? ...to be honest, i thought for a second that said Nazi's not nails. and no. Theres not bad nails, it's bad people.
And as the toppic suggested:
How was your day? Pretty blah, gonna get worse with work and all, but is ok.

I've had similar days. Nothing recent. Oddly enough, I wouldn't mind a nail through one of my bike's tires as they're still the crappy stock ones and it would be a great excuse to get new ones.

However, I dread the day something happens to the tires on my challenger as they are crazy freakin' expensive. Stupid Goodyear Eagle F1's. I know there's cheaper alternatives out there but they're still pricey. Given the power of my car I'll never put standard tires on it. Even with the goodyears I can break them loose in 3 gear.

Did you had similiar experiences? No, not really.

Was you day exciting in another fashion? Err... No.

Does it sound like much money for such an event? Heck yeah!

How would you react in such situations? I would initiate my glare of doom at both the bike, tire, nail, and any people within 300 miles around me.

How should onereact in such situations? Read above ^

Do think Nails should be banned because they are evil? Evil... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIIIIIIIIIIIIIL... Not really.

And as the toppic suggested:
How was your day?
One word that will send you into a foaming terror... School.

Well that was interesting :D

Thank you all for sharing you thoughts, so far.
I think replacing it is more "consumerism" like. I didn't think of repairing it. But it certainly feels better now as I don't have any bad feelings driving at high speed on the highway. If that nail would haven happened on the highway I wouldn't be able to write these lines now. But when there is no risk there is no fun either... I rather die on the highway due to some other moron's fault than slowly at home because of boredom.

When i was 12 some kids mugged me and my buddy. The only thing we had on us was brand new boxed set of D&D which they didn't even take. Maybe if they had taken it I wouldnt be such a geek?

A piece of tape was found on my dorm room's wall, from the previous residents, that neither I or my roommate had noticed. Later we got a letter in the mail that the piece of tape caused $200 in damages that my roommate and I had to pay.... Regardless of that bullshit we appealed the whole situation cause for the love of god $200 would replace a section of wall, not a little spot that needs paint touch up. We still ended up paying $20 a piece for a little 1 square inch spot on the wall...

Not as bad in the end as the OP but shit... Who does the pricing for stuff like this anymore?

My rear-view mirror fell off, so I tried to superglue it back on. It was upside down. Being the space-age genius that I am, I chiseled it off the windshield with a flathead screwdriver and a hammer and took a piece of the windshield with it. It cost a little over $200 to replace the windshield. I later found out you can dissolve superglue with rubbing alcohol.

Worst thing that happened to me regarding a vehicle was when I went to sell my Dodge Stealth. All I had to do was get it inspected (not sure about the rest of the world but here in Pennsylvania you have to have a garage check out everything on your car once a year, and if something doesn't pass inspection you HAVE to get it fixed). One part of my exhaust didn't pass and to fix it I had to get one custom made since the part had been discontinued. All in all I had to pay $1,700 and only sold the car for $4,000. I say this sucks because if I lived in Florida (you don't need any inspection) I wouldn't have had to spend the $1,700 to fix it in order to sell it.

My day was pretty boring. I worked overtime quite late last night so I didn't get up until about 10am today. Then I almost crashed the home PC and had to do a full system restore, because the copy of 3DS Max I installed was too advanced for our crappy computer, so wouldn't work properly. Then my dad stopped by during his work break (he drives around a lot as part of his job, visiting sites and whatnot) for some toast and the toilet, and then I spent hours preparing my bedroom to re-paint, which meant sanding down all the walls, skirting boards, and door. Then I walked the dog, came online to revise while my parents got home from work, and listened to Plastic Beach and posted this. Then I went on the Xbox, then I watched TV, then I went to bed. In the morning, I got up and went to visit my nan...

Wait, I'm going into the future now. I'd better not cause a time rupture, I'd hate the Doctor to have to come and sort it all out - he's a busy guy after all... :p

Wow, that's expensive for a tyre o_o
Um, my day was quite boring, kinda shitty though. Had to dash outside to get my clothes off the washing line and cause it was raining, they were soaked so I had to wear this stupid dress in the rain because I've only got one pair of jeans ;-; Then I had to get a taxi because I was late for work. Work was okay, went quite fast and for once I didn't get a load of shit off the customers. Bought some red hair dye, not gonna be able to do it for a couple of days though.
Came home and fell asleep, even though I kept opening my eyes I couldn't wake up, it felt so weird.
Felt really shittier earlier, but one cup of Earl Grey later and I feel okay.
