The only counter is ANOTHER WOBUFFET.

My favorite? Ninjask.
Ninjask is kickass. It's my favorite starter. Sooooo unbelievably fast. If I can get it out and get off at least two Swords Dances and Baton Pass to Gallade then I can usually sweep the whole team with Gallade's versatile moveset. I don't know if anyone here takes their pokemon as seriously as me and knows what I'm talking about though lol. Hopefully there are other people who nerdgasm about it as much as me though.

Competitive battling for the win. To be honest, I thought Gen 2 was the best, in terms of the games and the design. Say what you want about Gen 5 Pokemon though, a crapload of them are a lot more efficient at what they do than the majority of the gen 1/gen 2.

I still play Pokemon.
I think Gen 4 was the best (I've yet to play gen 5).
Yeah...
Pokemon is awesome.

Once you start seeing how deep the rabbit hole is, Pokemon becomes very... compelling for a number cruncher.

I still play pokemon also. i went the the Pokemon VGC in 2009, and I did do some competitive pokemon battling on Shoddy battle. I'm somewhat excited about Black and White.

I still play Pokemon. I imported White and have both reserved here in the States. I play around with HG and SS every now and then and lent Sapphire to my little brother so as to spread the awesome.

Hey, does anyone here have Deoxys, Darkrai, Celeby or, Feebas they'd be willing to trade? I may be able to spare a Mew...maybe...I could definitely trade a Phione though.

I play Pokemon. Excited for Black and White? Hell yeah. Snivy just looks too cool for school. Always had a soft spot for the grass starters.

Actually, although I had the same cycle, it was at different times:
1) Elementary School - cool
2) Middle School - uncool
3) High school - cool

Seriously, a lot of people in my high school participated in pokemon profile picture month on facebook. Although pretty much everyone changes it halfway through the month...

You ask if I still play Pokemon? Hell, I just beat the Elite Four in blue, ten minutes ago. I started playing pokemon blue again, some weeks ago and now I'm trying to build a strong team in order to defeat a friend. He's doing currently the same. We want to see who's better now, since we both have a lot more experience than back in the day, when we were kids. Now it's quite hard to do that because the old games don't have such a variety in attacks and pokemons.

As for black/white, I like it. I don't think that (most of) the pokemon look bad, I believe that they're about the same and it's just nostalgia that let's us think, they look worse.
I skipped diamant/pearl and just made a quick playthrough, on my friends game but I think I'm going to try Black/White again.

Grabbed Blue as soon as it hit the UK back in the day, and loved it.

Missed the rest of the releases because a) I was still playing Blue, and b) because there wasn't much of an MP scene nearby anymore.

Got a copy of SoulSilver at launch, but traded it in about a week later; the massive roster and extra mechanics just leave me cold.

I suppose it boils down to me preferring Fallout Tactics to Valkyria Chronicles; I love having a small, highly developed squad picked from a small roster that I use most of the time, with a few reserves for when a different strategy's needed. Having to cycle god knows how many characters with barely differing stats nearly all the time is too much of a hassle, I just don't engage with what I've built up.

Would it sweeten the deal if I offer Japanese Pokemon? I have a hand full of shiny ones but I don't want to trade them...I guess I would though...Shiny Dusklops? Any starter? Rotom? C'mon!? I'll trade back if that helps: I mainly just want the Pokedex entry.

Anyone? Darkrai? Cerebii? Deoxys? Please?

Pah! I'm still playing Pokémon Red!
Damn new-fangled pokémon trampling my flowers...
That was my thought exactly. Pokemon there actually looked like they could exist. They were based on animals and not lamps, celery, and random office supplies.

I haven't posted my "Intro to Pokemon" story yet. Basically what kicked it off, was when I was in I believe pre-school, either 4 or 5 years old, and we had a family trip to Hawaii planned. We live in New York so the plane ride was roughly 12 hours long, and understandably my parents were nervous that me at my young age would begin to act up just out of boredom. The only thing they could think of that would keep me occupied for that long was either a really really big stack of kids comic books, or a Gameboy Color. They obviously decided on the Gameboy because a) A large stack of comic books is very heavy and takes up a lot of space, and b) It's arguable whether or not that would have actually kept me occupied for the plane ride there AND back. And the games they bought with it were Pokemon Blue and Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, and from then on I loved pokemon, although I wasn't very good at it, teaching all of my pokemon Cut, Strength and Rock Smash, lol.

Good stuff man. You've got 9 years on me, but it's good to see people "out of the age group" still playing an awesome game.

This guy has a lot of Black and White videos with some solid commentary. He's currently doing a Let's Play of it which is up to part 7 I believe.

I want them to make a full 3D game FFS. You can't tell me that wouldn't be the greatest thing ever! Being able to go exploring in the wild and see wild Mankeys/Nidorans/etc. and catch them? Seeing a full-size Gyarados? Being able to actually avoid those fucking Zubats for once? That would be awesome!

I liked every pokemon generation up to Ruby/Sapphire, Diamond and Pearl got a bit ridiculous with the new Pokemon.

Also, I have a very strange favorite Pokemon: Dusclops. He is ten kinds of awesome.

Nothing wrong with playing Pokemon, it's a fine series of games. Unles of course you're in Highschool. :\
I'm on the fence about Black & White, so I'll probably still get them, just to see what they're like. Though I do agree with some of the designs.

Have you heard this song by any chance?

I was listening to this song when I saw this thread! best coincidence ever!

OT: I was late to the Pokemon party and I've just started on soul silver.
