Bah, that's it. I'm creating a petition and taking down sonovabitch Micheal Atkinson, The guy is just destroying gamers in Australia.

Atkinson is misguided. His reasoning for saying no is that he "doesn't want kids to be able to get their hands on adult content" (or words to that effect). However, this has, in some cases, made it easier for kids to access 'adult' content..

Kids at the age of 13-14 are off shooting/stabbing each other, watching porn and watching movies rated R +18 to begin with, so why the hell is it that we cant have games here for us Aussie who ARE over 18. I honestly don't know why Atkinson is even a Attorney General...

I hope that they don't catch on about kids watching porn etc otherwise they'll ban our internet :O

Also, we have no say in who is picked to be Attorney General. Voting won't change that. If you don't know why we don't have an R18+ rating, do some research. In a vote to introduce an R18+ rating for games, all state's Attorney Generals were required to agree. South Australia's Michael Atkinson said no. The rest said yes.

A fairly violent game that was rated 18+ in Europe, whereas in Australia it was rated MA15+ (The highest AU rating for video games).

In short, it's not our fault one person is a douche.

When I first heard that Left 4 Dead 2 was refused classification or banned or whatever in Australia, it came to me as no surprise. While I certainly wasn't predicting it to happen, learning that it did made perfect sense in my mind. I mean, those close combat weapons earned that R rating.

Now I think that the OFLC may do the same with God of War 3. Think about it. The game has technology that allows internal organs to move realstically after being torn out of a body. There's also been footage of Kratos pulling out eyes and ripping off heads. This is the sort of thing that might earn it an R rating and make Michael Atkinson rant about games training kids to be terrorists and serial killers. Also, blood can splatter on Kratos' skin, which I'd expect the OFLC to add in their report should they refuse the game's classification.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but we won't know till it is time for its classification.

First off, how could that come as a suprise? But probably. What I don't get with L4D2 being banned is that, they allowed a Zombie Version of Carmageddon through just fine, why not L4D2? Same thing, just with guns instead of cars.

God Of War 3 wont be banned. The game may be gore filled mayhem, but the game isn't full of violence against people, it's violence against mythical creatures. If Kratos was eating babies and eviscerating people then it would get banned... but would be awesome!

They already tried that. Monitor and restrictions on the internet for pirating. instead it caused the internet traffic speed in AUS to drop to 33% or so, so they removed it.

PS: What kind of country doesn't have a "M for Mature" rating? Sounds kinda silly.

Our rating system is pretty good, other than the obvious omission of an R18+. We have G (General - for everyone), PG (Parental Guidance recommended), M (Mature - parental guidance for people under 15) and MA15+ (Restricted to people under 15). It's logical to have the adult rating there. The fact that it's not is ridiculous

I'm a Brit, too. I'm painfully aware of our taxes. But your right, at least we have reletive freedom regarding our entertainment, if not out Human Rights.
