Because I am having the time of my life with this.

What ever technical issues the game had when it released seems to be over right now. (Heck when I first installed it and the patch downloaded it worked fine on the first time playing on my PC)

The campaign map and features are increadibly complex so I have yet to scratch the surface of it.

But the battles, OH MY GOODNESS the battles are awesome. Much better then Rome 2.

Playing the Empire with all the artillery cannons, especially the Steam Tank along side Demigriphs, Warrior Priests and Karl Franz Riding on Deathclaw is fuckin hype!!!!

And the Orcs are as WAAAAAAGH!!!! as ever. Heck even the Goblins are scary.

Warriors of Chaos are OP though I can confirm that Archaon the Everchosen is probably the most OP Legendary Lord. The man can use Magic Spells like Fireballs and Meteors and Firestorms :p

Goddamn it now the wait for the other expansion games for factions like High Elves, Ogre Kingdoms, Skaven, and Daemons of Chaos is now unbearable.

Well, fuck it. Just decided to pull the trigger and buy the damn thing.

It's gotten good reviews from the press, and while the fan response was bad at first, it seems to have cleared up already.
Here's hoping it wasn't a mistake.
Well I can't speak for everyone because so far its working for my computer but I can say there are at times long loading times but that only happens once when you first play it. And after that the load times get to normal speeds.

But the long loads can come back after you turn off and on your PC.

Good luck with the campaigns because I find it a bit more complex than Medieval 2 Total War I mean I have never seen such clutter of menus in a game (well except Everquest 1)

Deep resigned sigh

I'm not convinced.

I enjoyed it last night, but its insanely...dull and uninvolved beyond "Go!" and "Attack" and the occasional "Cast!" Also in keeping with my just starting, victory vs. defeat seems entirely arbitrary.

I played 3 custom missions last night, each the exact same. I was Orks vs. Empire, with medium sized armies on a big open field, with the exact same armies and the exact same tactics.
1st mission was a pyrrhic victory. 2nd was a decisive defeat. 3rd was decisive victory. And for the life of me I couldn't tell you why either went which way. Nothing changed, and I made sure of that.

It just seems...random.

But it does succeed in giving us a comeplete visual representation of what Warhmmaer Fantasy Battles would look like.

When people play the tabletop game this is what they are imagining.

Mabye its dull because of the lack of blood and gore ;)

Eh, it's alright. Feels a little bare-bones to me the more I play it. I'm usually quite bored of my campaign like fifty turns in. Magic is pretty much useless offensively, it's sole purpose is pretty much buffs and debuffs. It just feels like a lot is missing from it.

So...what you're saying is that it's like a Warhammer Fantasy Game? :p

OT: I do think it's a pretty average game. There's a visceral thrill of playing these characters in a video game where I don't have to buy a sea of models to represent the army. But the tactics could use a lot of work. I'm probably going to wait for a mod to make it more tactical like the old Darth mods but I am happy that we had a vanilla that wasn't broken straight out of the gate (yes, I know Attila happened. Still doesn't excuse Rome II)

you obviously haven't played as Manfred yet. he's OP as fuck.

I will say this about the game though. it's economy system is broken. high tier units are expensive as shit (both purchase price and upkeep) and they barely give you any income buildings worth a damn.

I'll likely be getting it soon. I heard it wasn't running for a bunch of people which is worrying so I'm going to give them a bit of time to clear up any technical hassles.

I've watched a bunch of gameplay and it looks like fun. I just wish the melee infantry fights were a bit more involved. As it is you basically just charge your infantry into theirs and whoever has the best stats wins. It would have been nice to have stances or formations or something. Like a shield wall stance that limits mobility but gives good protection from missiles, a polearms hedgehog stance that can repel cavalry charges, a wedge stance that can let you pierce through opposition when charging, that sort of stuff.

Between this, Overwatch and Mirror's Edge in a few weeks I should be pretty set on games for the rest of the year.

My PC doesn't have the specs to run it. I'm a sad snotling. :(

Still, glad it's got a good reception. Any exposure to Warhammer Fantasy Battle, even as 40K hogs the lime-light (the less said about Age of Sigmar the better), is a win in my eyes.

I guess the complexity of the campaign map is less than most people are used to from total war. I can?t say I mind that much though as everything else works so well, at least after I took a trip to the workshop to pick up the Radious mod. first campaign is the dwarves so I have no experience with magic beyond Runesmith augments but form what I gather from table top, none of the races so far are exactly renowned for being above average magically. If anything melee lords and heroes seem to be incredibly overpowered in early game, maybe this will balance out once I start encountering mid/high tier units but right now my thanes can go toe to toe with a full unit of Big'uns and comfortably crush them.

My only gripe so far is that you no longer get a warning before ending a turn if you are not researching anything.

I just hope the expansions will make it better.

I really want to play the High Elves because they have Dragons :(

And I wanna play Daemons of Chaos because they have Khorne Daemons like Bloodletters and Bloodthirsters.

That's more a game mechanic. In the lore of both settings, daemon princes are former mortals who are elevated to daemonhod by the Chaos gods in exchange for their service. It's a far longer process than what the games might imply.

I do want to get this game, from what I've seen it looks epic, but I've just bought Overwatch when I probably shouldn't so I'll have to wait a bit. Hopefully by then all the major bugs will be squashed, the game will be balanced, DLC may be out and maybe it'll come down in price.

I'm enjoying my Greenskins campaign, slowly crushing the orc tribes in the south, but I'm wondering how the hell I am going to take Karaz-a-Karak when the time comes. Dwarfs are terrifying and orcs break quickly.

You have every right to fear the Dwarves of Warhammer:
