I used to do that before it was cool.

You got anything you can say that to?

I had pokemon cards before the craze took off all those years ago and, I collected salamanders (a space marine faction in warhammer 40,000) before the new rules added a character that was nails.

WoW, I was there in vanilla when the game had a lot less subscribers and was a lot more terrible.
Anyone who claims "the good old days" were better is talking out of their ass.

That's about it, I started playing 40k a bit less then two years ago.

That said I still refuse to buy Space Marines and think that GW's policy of giving different Space Marine chapters their own codexes when the, for example, witch hunters (or Bolter Bitches, if you prefer) have an ancient codex, is complete and utter bollocks.
You don't need a new codex for something you can sum up in a page or two of special rules.

Drifting. Back in 2000 I had a beat ass Corolla with a welded diff and my friends and I would rip it up in parking lots late at night.
Then Initial D hit the U.S. and it exploded. Cops cracked down and all our spots got raided.
Upshot is we could now do it legally a lot more often...but it just wasn't the same. I quit a few years after that because it just got so damn expensive.

I played COD before it was cool. I haven't played COD since the second expansion pack for the first game though.

FPSes. I was a Quake junkie back in the day (I also moonlighted with Marathon at school)... then I moved to Unreal Tournament.

...but this is one area where I really can look back on the good ol' days and say with a perfectly straight face that things were better. I don't play FPSes very often anymore. The games are unimaginative and the player base is generally a pretty terrible group of people to play with now. One can only play death matches and area control with a bunch of vindictive asses for so long before it gets old.

Hmmmm... I liked stuff that was cool, but then became more cool recently. Like Rage Against The Machine for example, although I was hardly one of the original fans.

I liked Cancer Bats before they got big? (I'm predicing stuff here) I've loved The Black Spiders for about a year now (album comes out next year, they'll be huge. I hope)?

And on a side note, Warhammer never has, and never will be, cool.

I used to play drums before Rock Band made everyone and their mother think they can too.
I used to watch plenty of videos before RayWilliamJohnson posted about them and everyone knew what they were.
I still go on youtube but I was there a little after one of the creators posted about his time at the zoo.
I used to watch Yahtzee before he came here.
I used to watch the Nostalgia Critic too before he got his own site.
I used to watch AVGN before 2007 ended, not sure if you wanna say that's when he became cool or not, but it's there.
And lastly, I hated Guitar Hero the day I heard about the concept coming out.

Playing TF2 before it became a hat simulator.
(And I really miss back then, too)

Also Call of Duty Series, back when Single-Player wasn't something game Developers put together on their blackberries in the toilet stall.

I was a hipster before it as cool to be a hipster. But because it's now cool to be a hipster it's no longer cool to be one.

I used to watch Unforgotten Realms since the first crappy drawing episodes on youtube. And I can say that they have made me laugh than any other episodes of UR(Although some are still quite funny).

I resent that, I love my Black Templars book!

Also with tonnes of music. Like Elliott Smith I loved for years and now it's really cool to like him.

But hey, as long as they don't try to say they like it first it's fine.

lol I don't think Pokémon was ever not cool. That thing appeared, what 10 or 12 years ago and exploded!

OT: I never really liked this term... Indicating you liked something before it was cool means that it wasn't... yeah?

Not that I know of, but recently my friends said that they've been seeing a lot of people with my hairstyle lately (I wasn't aware I had one), which I've kept the same for ages. So...apparently.

1) Games Workshop likes money.
2) Space Marines are their best sellers.

Put the 2 together and you get the reason for the constant releases of Space Marines. As for a page or two of special rules, nope, that wouldn't cover it at all. The newer chapter-specific codices contain a lot of differences to the Space Marines codex, and include a lot of background information on the chapter in question.

That being said, goddamit GW, re-release the bloody forces of the Inquisition already!

As for things before they were cool, ummmm...
Can't really think of anything. I don't really pay attention to the fans of stuff really.

Well I know that, thing is I was going to start playing Bolter Bitches Witch Hunters until I found out just how old that codex is.
Then I started with Tau and Necron, where the tau codex is from last editions rulebook, and the Necron one nearly as old as the Witch Hunters.

I have not yet forgiven them.
