Ahh, Mass Effect 2... How long I've waited for you; with your special save system, updated combat, spectacular visuals, delicious characters and-

Oh shit, brother's birthday this weekend.

*sigh*

There aren't many times at the minute where I get to kick back and truly relax on a game without caring how long I've been playing for (damn you exams and coursework!). When I've bought a new game though, I try as best I can to have this opportunity.

Unfortunately, things can just get in the way. Things that you will play no major part in, yet require copious amounts of your time nonetheless.

Like a 7-year-old's birthday party.

Its not that I don't want to go (actually, it kind of is), just that its been 1-and-a-half years dammit! All I want is this one Saturday, just this once!

So my dearest escapees, what things get in the way of your gaming at the times you really wish they wouldn't?

[small]Note: Some of you may notice I've completely re-written this as I apparently sounded like an anti-social "douche" (man that word makes me feel sick). I like people, I really do, but sometimes I just want me, a keyboard and mouse, a game and several hours of alone time![/small]

What are the most annoying things that have gotten in the way of your gaming, at the absolute worst times?
My friend kept calling me up in the middle of a raid I was main tanking. Eventually I just turned off my phone.

Ever been to a 7-year-olds party (when you're not 7 yourself)?

Although I'm not going to say what you said isn't not true...

no, nothing ever really gets in the way. I just turn it off for a few hours, make a token appearance, then go back upstairs.

It's a good system.

Hey, I wasn't saying your choice wasn't a bad one. Just how amusing it would sound if you told your dad the unaltered truth :p

Well, people are more important to me than video games.

So never.
This. Although sometimes either my parents will call me downstairs or my girlfriend will call me on my phone RIGHT WHEN I START THE GAME. Gah. Annoying, but I wouldn't say I'd rather game than what I'd do otherwise.

Actually, I'd rather play the Bad Company 2 beta tomorrow than go to school. But I also don't want to fail.

It's my dad's birthday on the day ME2 comes out. If I don't get the pre-order copy early, I won't be able to play it for maybe a whole weekend after I get it.

University tends to get in my way :p
But I realize it's more important.

The day my son was born Modern Warfare 1 came out. By the time I actually was able to play it I was already horribly behind in the multiplayer world compared to my friends, so i just didn't ever play the multiplayer.

Well, I've been earning good money to buy a fuck tonne of games for a good 6 months or so now.

And six weeks ago I had my second child. A beautiful baby girl, but a game block non-the -less!;)

I'd have to say my job gets in the way of most of my gaming. And funds me to get more games than I know what to do with. Oh, the irony!

my computer decided to have a CTD, the power went out, someone wanted the TV and another wanted the internet so I had to find something to do... Eh, things come up but it's not really that big of a deal.

I got half-life 2 the christmas after it came out. Not only was my family visiting relatives for christmas so I had no access to a PC. I got back home, only to discover that my parent's PC didn't have a DVD drive so it couldn't run the disc. So two days later, I went and spent my savings on my first ever PC. SPECIFICALLY to play half-life 2.
