NOOOOOOPE.

We went through this bullshit (pardon my language) in AW, and to a lesser extent BO3. Also had to go through it in Halo 5.

This is unacceptable from a gameplay perspective. You now have RNG locked weapons that completely change the functions of weapons, and in the case of that AR are likely to be a complete and straight 100% upgrades from the base weapon.

I could've accepted in if they went the BF4 route with the crates (where all statistical modifiers are unlock through kills and are unlocked quickly, cosmetics are unlocked through more kills afterwards or early with RNG) or were pure cosmetics.

But what we have here is another Obsidian Steed, IMR Thunder Tusk, FFAR, HG40 etc. style situation here.

I'mma just wait for the solo MWR separate release that was leaked now. This isn't cool.

I'm more disappointed that the weapons are just fancy skins for generic game weapons we see in any game from anywhere. It's the "future" ... goddamn it! Things should be a little creative...like...just a little bit of something exotic! Something other than shotguns, uzis and assault rifles! But yeah, randomised weapons look like they're gearing up for those juicy microtransactions to milk as many stupid kids for all they're worth. It's popular enough that they think they can double down on this bullshit and still make the dolla.
Also, since when was "epic" a measurement of abundance? That poor word has been beating into meaninglessness...leave it alone, for crying out loud! ;p

Source, please?

Say what you will about CoD, but CoD 4 was a modern classic, and I would totally buy it again if it wasn't shackled to IW.

It got let slip in a Tweet from the developers that got almost instantly deleted.

I'm more concerned with why the guns seem to have two grips. And two sets of triggers.

Like...what's the practical effect of that? I know about forward grips, but that's a bit more than a forward grip. That's a totally separate firing mechanism slapped onto the end of the barrel. Why? What does that do?

I mean, that third one looks like someone glued two Glocks together Human Centipede-style. I just...what? Just give me lasers. Lasers are less ridiculous.

The more of IW's singleplayer I see, the more interested I get.

The more of the multiplayer I see, the more vomit accumulates on my floor.

You guys hear about the nuke weapons? Jesus.

Read the description. The weapon has an alt-fire mode that allows the user to split the gun into two separate 'shotguns' that can be fired akimbo.

Which is why you give your poor stomach some rest and just shift your multiplayer interest over to Titanfall 2. Problem solved. ;)

I did not. Do tell.

It's for multiplayer purposes.

I don't get it. It's 3 guns. In a game about shooting peoples. I'm trying to see what I'm supposed to be worked up about.

Granted, I'll confess right now my interest in this game is pretty much the single player(like almost every other game in existence). Is the campaign fun? Does the plot have no gaping holes in it? Are the maps interesting? Do the set pieces work? Will I kind of remember the character names 5 minutes once I finish it? Does Jon Snow know anything? Is space truly the final frontier?

How the holy hell is that supposed to work?

I was confused too, then I saw rarity: epic in the corner. I'm going to asume that most guns can only be obtained randomly.

The base weapons are obtained through leveling up, just like any other game currently.

The Variants (of which the three pictured are just some of many, many Variants) can only be unlocked through RNG loot boxes as seen in Black Ops 3, Advanced Warfare or like the cosmetics in Overwatch, CS:GO etc. Which means that through pure luck a player could (and someone will) wind up with a statistically superior or a superior alternate version of a weapon that other players don't have because of luck instead of skill or ability.

A big example of this being a problem was seen back in Advanced Warfare; there was a weapon called the BAL Obsidian Steed - a variant of the basic BAL everyone had. Except the Obsidian Steed had a better rate of fire, and did more damage - it was ALWAYS a 3 shot at ANY range, and could 2-shot headshot kill at close range, something most other weapons were not capable of. It was in every way superior to the basic BAL and it was the best weapon in the game - and it was an Ultra-Rare unlock, meaning it was very rare to get one.

I wouldn't mind rarity if rarer guns just made the guns more ridiculous, rather than better. The rarer the item, the bigger and more powerful the buffs, but the associated debuffs increase at the same rate. So, common weapons are all normal and then at high levels you've got stupid shit like highly accurate and powerful laser SMGs with no ability to reload.

Well, the game's story is set in the far future, so.....space magic?

To be fair, the second weapon in the OP doesn't really seem like any sort of upgrade. It's certainly not a weapon I'd see myself wanting to use.

A gun that harms the user with each shot fired? That isn't a 'glass canon' weapon, that's 'pointless suicide' in a multiplayer match. I'm not even convinced it'd be worth using in a one on one match-up.

It's a Shotgun, which I suspect means it an always OHK at close range and pushes the effective kill range out a notable amount.

Also, all health regenerates, so in skilled hands it'd be a none-stop rape train.

I never played one of the newest COD games before [I stopped after I played my favourite WW2 game: Call of Duty 2]. So I don't quit understand the problem here.
Also I will be the first to say it, but I LOVE the Buther Gun. If you see it in a different angle, it like indeed like a Buther Knife.

After how successful Borderlands, Destiny and Division have been I'm not surprised. And when you can add microtransactions there, even better. I have zero interest in the game, so doesn't really matter to me.
