No. I'd feel guilty and wouldn't enjoy a job in advertising anyways.

However, I also wish those stupid anti-smoking commercials would come to an end since I hate the disgusting things they show. I never intended to smoke, so those ads simply have the effect of making me queasy.

uh yeah I'd do it easily, I'd then use 1.5 million to donate to anti smoking campaigns, so that might stop 3 outta 10 kids.

so in the end, I'd stopped 1/5 kids from smoking.

AND I get 500 grand for it.

Why not?

I am not forcing the kids, I am merely creating a successful marketing campaign that persuades one out of ten kids to light up. And as I assume these children are literate they should be fully aware of the risks that come from their actions.

I would never do this no matter how much you paid me. A lot of my family has smokers in it and some have already died from cancer and such. No way would I be able to cause that kind of hurt to another family.

I don't understand why people are so obsessed with money. There is only so much you need to be happy and aside from the solid gold toilet most of it can be purchased on a middle class salary. I think most rich people believe that with enough money you can become a being of pure money and rule the universe.

Well for starters I don't think I'd be very good at starting an advertising campaign, but I think unless it were aimed at adults I wouldn't do it.

Nope, not a chance.

Now if it was to get children addicted to worshipping Tupperware, then why not? If nothing else it would be one interesting religion.

I feel like a prick for saying this, but I'd take the money. The way I see it: I'm not killing anyone that will be useful to society, just the ones dumb enough to fall for advertisements.

Without hesitation. People die all the time, and anyone who smokes is making that choice themselves, I sure as hell won't feel bad because they were swayed by advertising.

Sure. I'll do it for a year and a half, make three mil, and retire. Then I will help a major addiction curing organization make it easier to quit, thus saving some of the lives I initially doomed. I'll still have loads of cash, and not so much on my conscience.

[HEADING=1]OR[/HEADING] I'll remember that it's all bullshit, people make their own decisions and in all truth, my ads are not to blame. And also that in truth, most smokers DON'T die of tobacco related illnesses. If I pretend to be intelligent and remember this fact, I'll keep doing it for a while, get filty rich, then retire and relax the rest of my life.

Oh, I'd do that. It's an advertising campaign; if kids choose to kill themselves on cigarettes it's just their choice - I'm doing nothing more than trying to influence it, and they should be able to cope with that seeing as the whole world is doing the same thing.

if you are willing to run an advertising campaign aimed at kids for cigarrettes. One out of every ten kids that see any of these advertisements will end up becoming addicted. Subsequently, they will die due because of their habits.

Are you willing to take the job? Why or why not?

(This is purely hypothetical, I'm just curious as to how many people would actually take money over lives of their fellow men/women)

Interesting replies so far...

But how about this

You will be paid $125,000 dollars a year (without taxes and all that fun stuff that would bring it down to probably about 100,000), would you still do it?
100 grand a year? no way in hell, 500 grand then maybe, but if im in charge of advertisement for a corporation then im not going to take a shit paycheck. Also i couldn't care less about the children.
