Certainly not.
I play Elder Scrolls games to ignore humanity, not co-operate with them.

Well, there aren't really any spells to heal or buff allies, and in several cases when NPCs were fighting on my side in Oblivion they would get in the way of my attacks, and also two players would make some of the quests of the style the Elder Scrolls is known for quite awkward or even outright unplayable. Although it still sounds kind of fun... maybe if there was an option for one player to distract a NPC while the other player picked their pocket? :p
"Not any spells to buff or heal?" Um... ok, have one quick look at healing spells. "Heal Other" What the hell do you think that does? Next... Getting in your way. Well, one you won't be with ncps, and they would have it so you can't kill your friend. Some of the quest.... Ok, if they put co op in there would be some quests made FOR co op. And bottom one.... HELL YES! :)

But to answer all above, it would be in a differnt world. So that it didn't screw with single player, and was better suited for co op.

There ya go,
Rimmy

No, I like taking my time and going through the dialog, deciding how to deal with something and sometimes I can take awhile to make my mind up in a conversation with someone. Co-op is fun with something like Borderlands where you can just run around and kill stuff, getting loot, but it's not fun when you're trying to make choices and decisions and you know, playing an RPG. Leave co-op to other games and let me play my RPG by myself.
Stay calm..... ok... now, my idea for getting around that was when two players were in some place, if one player talks, he gets to decide everything. If multiple players talk then they vote and if noone wins then its a quick ingame flip o' coin and there you go. Besides, if you were to play split screen you and your mate could decide IRL. And let you play RPG by yourself? We arn't stopping you, it's just that a lot of us want to play rpgs aswell, but with friends. Again, you don't have to play co op.

Thanks,
Rimmy

EDIT: I like taking my time through dialogue too, so don't think I'm just saying that from an outside view.
Um, okay...I was calm, where in my post did I not seem calm? Thing is though, if they make the game co-op they have less time to spend on crafting a great single-player experience and more time sorting out bugs and making sure co-op works just fine. Also, having to vote on a choice in a RPG would be annoying it's an RPG I want to make MY choices in it I don't want to vote or argue about it with someone, I want to make the call. Co-op and exploring is fun but it doesn't suit an RPG.
Lol, I'm talking about me staying calm :).

Short post,
Rimmy

Now, I just wanna put one thing out there. Some people say there are already co op games. And you know what?
1. Almost all are shooters. It's ok to a point, but some people don't want to play shooters.
2. Most of them are just rushed side addons. WaW was like this. If a mission didn't work with two players, it wasn't there. It was just single player with someone else.
3. Things like Army of Two are great co op games, but there are no good RPG co op games or for that fact almost any. I might just not know of them, but I do not know a single RPG with co op.

Oh, and bye the way, please don't tell us to play MMORPGs, because we just want to have some fun with a mate(s) in the games we love.

Just putting it out there,
Rimmy

No, mostly due to the balance issues that would arise with the levelling system. I could work in other RPGs since two characters can just share EXP points but with the Elder Scrolls system you can't really do that. Plus most of my characters get way overpowered just by themselves towards the end of the game, having a second person along would make that problem way worse. And of course there's always the problem with combat and how it's nearly impossible to NOT hit friendly characters fighting along side you.

The levelling problem is easy. If they were to put co op, they would change it so it could work. So yes, they COULD share EXP points, or, because all most all the time you will be together, just get points if you help kill the monster/human/deamon. And over powered? In co op, the game would be harder, and thus you would need your buddy there helping you carve up the bandit legions.

Rimmy

EDIT: Oh, and as for the hitting thing, one, if you play with a human that probally won't happen, and two in almost all co op games there is a way to turn friendly fire off.

Since the Elder Scrolls games don't even have EXP points (One of the main things that sets them apart from every other RPG), no, you couldn't share them unless they changed almost the entire levelling system and thus take away a part of why people enjoy the Elder Scrolls games.

As for your hitting solution, play Oblivion, and take along a Melee focused companion. Afterwards just try and tell me that "It probably wouldn't happen" I cannot count the number of times I've wasted upwards of 3000 gold worth of enchantments because one of my companions ran in front of me. I honestly cannot think of a faster way to end a gaming partnership.

Ok, when I said about the hitting? I said it probalbly woundn't happen with humans. And then I said that YOU CAN TURN OFF FRIENDLY FIRE. So, you get to keep your 3000 gold for the enemies. And of course the AI will get infront of you, they are just plain retarded, and as for the levelling system, whats stopping them for having a co op levelling system and the normal one for single? Stop and think outside the box for a second. So, pretty much all you just said is rendered mute. Because if they were to make a co op, it would be in a new game. Stop looking at Oblivion and say "it's not gonna work". How about saying, "It might work but.... You need a differnt world.... The leveling in co op would be different.... ect." Really, people have already explained this.

Thanks,
Rimmy

Here is a quick way to put things.

My question: What would be better about the game making it co-op, and what would be worse?

Pros:
1. You could play with someone else at the same time?
???

Cons:
1. Ruins immersion, the majority of people don't interact with their friends in a way that would fit with the game. "Dude, lets go kill some freaking bandits" doesn't fit so well with how the game would be felt single player.

2. Friendly fire, you could probably take on something by yourself, but if your buddy slices you or snipes you, than it just makes it that much more difficult. And turning off friendly fire would also ruin what little but so awesome realism this game has.

3. Sharing you loots. That would just suck.

4. People leaving on you. If you are next to someone and either of you have absolutely nothing to do, then this might not be an issue. But somebody just leaving you there out all alone, when I would expect the monsters to be more difficult in a co-op area, would just suck and I would rather not have to deal with this.

Also, no, none of what he said was rendered mute. You really haven't proved much for you side of it.

Also, I really would be surprised if with two human players you wouldn't hit each other. Either two melee characters or one ranged and one melee character i would believe would be much more trouble than you believe. In Oblivion, did you ever find it hard to shoot an arrow while under pressure? Sometimes you miss, and a lot of times something gets in the way, and I would expect the melee person and the monster to be moving, making it a tough shot.

I'd actually like a 'free roam' Co-Op mode.
The entire gameworld without the quests, but maybe some co-op specific quests.
Import/export characters etc.

You don't have to have the single-player campaign co-op enabled, but the potential for a co-op TES is humongous if done well.

I have to say, even with out quests, the co op in TES would be awesome. It wouldn't be all that hard to make. Just export your characters into a new world, and away you go. There might or might not be quests but all they really have to do is say, set up a server, get your character and start playing.

Think of new ideas,

This is all i really want. I just want adventure.

Mabey my friends are different but am with a friend its so much easyier just making an adventure up. I can see it now. "Hey josh we should try to murder the king" "but theres like 20 gaurds" "I know :)"

Or Or "Hey josh i hear theres a super hidden dungeon to the very far north that has an easter egg, no idea where it is i hear its hidden, make take hours to even find the door" "....Lets ride"

Every time i imagine i just smile more but it ultimately saddens me as it seems no one wants to experiance such an adventure.

If they don't have co-op naturally, at least allow for it using a mod. Similar to Synergy and Half-Life 2.

There really is no problem in putting multiplayer in there. Todd Howard stated in an interview that he would have no problem doing that, he just doesn't like the idea of multiplayer

i'm not a fan of multiplayer myself, though i would like to see co-op in this game, plus im annoyed at the fact that they have the potential to have a co-op in this game, they just chose not to and i think that's a little selfish almost. Many people want co-op in this game, it's his team of workers who debate and in the end say no to the possibility of it.

i think that they should put it in there with the option of playing in single player or co-op, to satisfy both types of gamers. especially if Bethesda is capable of doing this anyway.
