"Not any spells to buff or heal?" Um... ok, have one quick look at healing spells. "Heal Other" What the hell do you think that does? Next... Getting in your way. Well, one you won't be with ncps, and they would have it so you can't kill your friend. Some of the quest.... Ok, if they put co op in there would be some quests made FOR co op. And bottom one.... HELL YES!FeralCentaur said:Well, there aren't really any spells to heal or buff allies, and in several cases when NPCs were fighting on my side in Oblivion they would get in the way of my attacks, and also two players would make some of the quests of the style the Elder Scrolls is known for quite awkward or even outright unplayable. Although it still sounds kind of fun... maybe if there was an option for one player to distract a NPC while the other player picked their pocket?![]()
Lol, I'm talking about me staying calmCadaurny said:Um, okay...I was calm, where in my post did I not seem calm? Thing is though, if they make the game co-op they have less time to spend on crafting a great single-player experience and more time sorting out bugs and making sure co-op works just fine. Also, having to vote on a choice in a RPG would be annoying it's an RPG I want to make MY choices in it I don't want to vote or argue about it with someone, I want to make the call. Co-op and exploring is fun but it doesn't suit an RPG.Lil_Rimmy said:Stay calm..... ok... now, my idea for getting around that was when two players were in some place, if one player talks, he gets to decide everything. If multiple players talk then they vote and if noone wins then its a quick ingame flip o' coin and there you go. Besides, if you were to play split screen you and your mate could decide IRL. And let you play RPG by yourself? We arn't stopping you, it's just that a lot of us want to play rpgs aswell, but with friends. Again, you don't have to play co op.Cadaurny said:No, I like taking my time and going through the dialog, deciding how to deal with something and sometimes I can take awhile to make my mind up in a conversation with someone. Co-op is fun with something like Borderlands where you can just run around and kill stuff, getting loot, but it's not fun when you're trying to make choices and decisions and you know, playing an RPG. Leave co-op to other games and let me play my RPG by myself.
Thanks,
Rimmy
EDIT: I like taking my time through dialogue too, so don't think I'm just saying that from an outside view.
The levelling problem is easy. If they were to put co op, they would change it so it could work. So yes, they COULD share EXP points, or, because all most all the time you will be together, just get points if you help kill the monster/human/deamon. And over powered? In co op, the game would be harder, and thus you would need your buddy there helping you carve up the bandit legions.kickyourass said:No, mostly due to the balance issues that would arise with the levelling system. I could work in other RPGs since two characters can just share EXP points but with the Elder Scrolls system you can't really do that. Plus most of my characters get way overpowered just by themselves towards the end of the game, having a second person along would make that problem way worse. And of course there's always the problem with combat and how it's nearly impossible to NOT hit friendly characters fighting along side you.
Since the Elder Scrolls games don't even have EXP points (One of the main things that sets them apart from every other RPG), no, you couldn't share them unless they changed almost the entire levelling system and thus take away a part of why people enjoy the Elder Scrolls games.Lil_Rimmy said:The levelling problem is easy. EDIT: Oh, and as for the hitting thing, one, if you play with a human that probably won't happen, and two in almost all co op games there is a way to turn friendly fire off.
Ok, when I said about the hitting? I said it probalbly woundn't happen with humans. And then I said that YOU CAN TURN OFF FRIENDLY FIRE. So, you get to keep your 3000 gold for the enemies. And of course the AI will get infront of you, they are just plain retarded, and as for the levelling system, whats stopping them for having a co op levelling system and the normal one for single? Stop and think outside the box for a second. So, pretty much all you just said is rendered mute. Because if they were to make a co op, it would be in a new game. Stop looking at Oblivion and say "it's not gonna work". How about saying, "It might work but.... You need a differnt world.... The leveling in co op would be different.... ect." Really, people have already explained this.kickyourass said:Since the Elder Scrolls games don't even have EXP points (One of the main things that sets them apart from every other RPG), no, you couldn't share them unless they changed almost the entire levelling system and thus take away a part of why people enjoy the Elder Scrolls games.Lil_Rimmy said:The levelling problem is easy. As for your hitting solution, play Oblivion, and take along a Melee focused companion. Afterwards just try and tell me that "It probably wouldn't happen" I cannot count the number of times I've wasted upwards of 3000 gold worth of enchantments because one of my companions ran in front of me. I honestly cannot think of a faster way to end a gaming partnership.

I have to say, even with out quests, the co op in TES would be awesome. It wouldn't be all that hard to make. Just export your characters into a new world, and away you go. There might or might not be quests but all they really have to do is say, set up a server, get your character and start playing.Trolldor said:I'd actually like a 'free roam' Co-Op mode.
The entire gameworld without the quests, but maybe some co-op specific quests.
Import/export characters etc.
You don't have to have the single-player campaign co-op enabled, but the potential for a co-op TES is humongous if done well.
This is all i really want. I just want adventure.Trolldor said:I'd actually like a 'free roam' Co-Op mode.
