you probably will never look at this again, but seriously you don't know how developing a game works. Bethesda would hire a different group of people just to work mainly on the co-op. there would be no time taken away from the single player, it would be exactly the same!!! so seriously, for everyone, there is no reason not to make a co-op for this game, they have the money and the resources, it would only take a bit more time.

EDIT: tried to reply to someone elses post, but seriously i hate arrogant ppl who think co-op would ruin the game. NO! MMO would ruin this game, not co-op. AND if you're going to compare this game to halo... seriously? HALO's a shooter game, the only reason you can compare it to this thread at all is the fact that they were able to put co-op into the main story line, though the story line for the halo series in my opinion is not as good as TES, therefore i believe it would work better in TES. You can make co-op work in a game thats meant to be for a single player.

Borderlands has open-world co-op, so I guess it could work in Skyrim?

It would be nice to pool in money for weapons, trade items that could be unique in other players' games, have a tag-team match in the battle arenas, distract NPCs so your partner in crime to loot their house or pickpocket. Sounds good.

You'd probably share XP, though, and it would depend on who's world you're playing in. For example, in Borderlands, your friends can join your games via invite, where you can help them on missions, give them equipment, etc. Also, the level-up system. If you are a much higher level character than your buddy, the enemies will just demolish them in combat.

I could go on, but I'm sleepy.

if skyrim ad coop it might work but it will be 2 hard to keep the RPG element
i could be fun in arenas tho
the rpg element would be kept completely, all you do is add in a separate mode for co-op and just add the person in as if it was halo, just better. i dont understand at all why people care whether or not you're the main character of the story, nor why there can't be two. why can't there be two people, but they only mention one of you. Is that really a problem? And if it is, why cant you just play the single player mode then? that was a general question for people, not you specificially odycay

I whole-heartedly agree. The only thing I ever feel like I'm missing in playing these and Bioware games is comparing characters with friends, and proper competition with other real players instead of pre-programmed and somewhat predictable AI mobs.

thats exactly how i feel, even though in this game there's a limited number of items that one person can have and when comparing your characters, you'll probably find that you both of similar stats and items but just being able to play with a friend is good enough for me.

See, the reason my friends are my friends is because they help balance out my more serious and cynical views. When they're around I like to laugh and fuck with anything we can.

Not to say we can't RP when that's the point like on an MMO RP server or whe nwe play tabletop D&D, but Elder Scrolls games have far too much 'crunch' (stats, etc) in them to make us focus on walking around with normal clothes when in the city, compared to how we usually are when we play games like that. (Suited up in demonic armor, and running around slitting throats for maximum lulz.)

...Not to say I don't RP when I play by myself...

No way. Scaled leveling will NEVER work with Co-op.
It works when you're playing with people you're friends with and will actually help you kill monsters and w/e, but even still if the developers wanted to, they could just decrease or increase the difficulty of the monsters depending on BOTH levels of the people in the game rather than just character whose story is based around.

I would have to say though I absolutely loved Oblivion, I really wished there was a Co-op option for it, once I created 10 different characters of course. I have a few close friends who played it as well, and though it was sort of fun telling tales of what you have done in it and telling them about your gear, it just isn't the same as if you were able to play together. Now that may just be me wanting to show off my character and gain epeen points, but there is the other side to it: Going through and doing all the quests with another person would make it much more... fun I guess. Of course they would have to ramp up the difficulty to balance two characters going through the quests, but overall it doesn't seem like it would be that hard to do. But that's coming from someone with the only experience in doing stuff in games is making/editing mods for Oblivion/Morrowind.
