World of Starcraft?

Seriously, I'd love to play as a zerg hydralisk and spit on people all day.

Ok, that was more a joke than anything but it might be kind of cool to see the Starcraft world from that perspective. I am sure whatever Blizzard's next gen mmo ip is will be fun.
in short no.
in long NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

okay okay, i play Starcraft, i play MMO's

World of starcraft would not be a good combo I'm not changing my mind on this one

Something that uses real data like the street views in google. Just think, you could buy your own house, and like in real life you'd have to grind for years to be able to afford it.

Squad based, like as you level your little personal armor gets bigger and you are allowed new units to add to your ever expanding squad. Factions of course as they via for control, Land and sea. Maybe even flying units, like dragons or clockwork helicoptors.

With naval fights. Boarding, broadsides, etc. and depending on your units, could give stat bonuses or even speical skills. City sieges where you can build siege weapons or just storm the gate/walls. Probably need a high end pc, which I don't have :p.
There are a few MMOs out there like that... Though personally I've never been able to stick with one because there is about zero immersion, and since you lack a character of your own, No connection. I just feel like its a chatroom strategy game... But there are some out there.
No no not an rts :p, you'd have your command character whom you'd control in towns and such.

I'm basically quoting myself from a previous thread here, but here we go:

Renaissance base:
Taking base in a slightly (read: extremely) romanticised version of 15th century Firenze and Venice, right after the discovery of the Americas, it wouldn't be short of occasion for exploring the "unexplored", and it would be a great setting for an inter-dependent user-based economy.

User-based economy:
Said exploring would be done by explorers, but explorers need a ship, which they will only be able to get from a shipyard owned by a craftsman. The craftsman would again need to buy the raw materials from a trader.

Close-to unlimited exploring:
Making the map wouldn't too difficult, as you wouldn't have to come up with the layout, it's already made. A recreation of the West Indies, Florida and middle-America, in a way that would make it playable. This would even increase the inter-dependence as users can exchange maps of what they have explored.

Settling, user-controlled societies:
Users can settle their own cities in the aforementioned area, and create their own societies for mining gold, go hunting, start plantations etc. (Triangular trade NOT included ofc).

My biggest concern: No emphasis on combat.
xD that sounds sort of like Sword of the New World: Granado Espada. Though yours is much more detailed, the whole renaissance theme and new world exploration is spot on with it. Also you can "explore" areas and "find" new places (not literally, but they make it supposedly look like you did) lol, I just had to say this one, because its actually very simillar.

Oh, it also has an odd combat system giving you control of three characters out of your "Family" at any one time.

*EDIT*

Also, for an idea of my own, I always agreed that an exploration based MMO would be awesome. But perhaps something like having no provided maps, and having a map-making system within the game. Also scattered throughout the areas could be hidden dungeons and such. And the only way these could be found is with player maps.

Towns could be controlled by guilds and such. I just always thought the idea of ACTUALLY exploring in an MMO, finding things and discovering things would actually be really cool.

Maybe a system for quests involving finding places, or things, or even escort missions. Of course a predominately player controlled economy, but not completely. Ragnarok Online had a rather interresting system for creating weapons that I thought could have been expounded upon. In each server, all blacksmiths who were crafters had the ability to create weapons bearing their names, and the best crafters were on a top ten list. Same with Alchemists that made healing items.

However, maybe it could be made better by providing more customization to produced weapons, armor, and potions for selling over the NPC store-bought gear. You could accrue points for making things which would tally up to your position on the lists.

Just some things that rumbled around in my head for a while.

I took a look at that game, and it seems rather interesting, though it comes short on a number of things, from the looks of it. It doesn't take base in any European cities, which were the base of the 15th century explorers, it doesn't allow for user-built cities, no user-based economy, is too fantasy inspired, with strange pets, magic and potions and it's animated in anime style. Not exactly my cup of tea.
